I...didn't notice that.
But I have to admit, that's amazingly awesome. xD What's he going to do? Have an angst fest and chop it off?
Cut it off, staple it to his head, and cut it off again?
I love it.
Seriously, though, everyone needs to stop complaining, Shurrr, the ponytal symbolized a lot, but nobody really cares and you're all kinda stupid.

I just hate the noseguard and the tail. It makes the entire thing look way too European. I hope they keep the skull plate. I wish they could have added more to the wings of it. Other than that, it looks good.

Overall, I'm pleased with the helmet design. Looks like the blended several of the helmets from the show together and it turned out well. The ponytail seems.. different, but it's not something that bothers me. I'm sure it'll do just fine.

Uh, yeah, you seriously have no right to call them stupid if you yourself are too stupid to see the issues with this movie. It's a shame that Avatar fans keep deluding themselves into liking this major piece of fail. Are you guys that desperate for an adaption that you will accept something that fails to remain true to the series? Anyway, the helmets suck. Once again, M Night is trying his hardest the not stay true to the series. I understand story changes, but M Night just being an idiot now (and so is the majority of the Avatar fanbase). Like that one poster said, I hope they atleast keep the skull face-plates. I want there to be one part of this movie that can atleast enjoy when I am watching this crud online.

Heyo, dude. I was kidding. It's what I do. I am not above feeding a flamer, I'll kick your virtual arse. Exactly, love. It's a MOVIE. Why are you bugging? The series wasn't exactly what appealed to a lot of Avatar fans. . . It was the fandom. The animation and idea of the plot was amazing, sure, but the acual diologue and many ideas were quite phail. We should be used to it by now. xD It's a children's series. This movie is in the hands of the director... he's like a fan. This is just another fan work, and most fan works are not 100% "canon" as we avatards have proven. That's the best way I can explain why a lot of us aren't too dissapointed. And I'm not going to critic the movie until it's on the big screen.

Agreeing with the last poster. Ever see the Lord of the Rings? It was by no means a 100% faithful film adaption and the director, Peter Jackson himself, called it his 'fandom' - his take on the book and series. Let M Night have his fun. Seriously, if you care so much about these issues, write to the produces, complain to the people that have actually 'ruined' this movie for you. Save us from your insults and crude arguments attempting to stifle our enjoyment of what is essentially another individuals take on the world we have grown to love and enjoy. Everyone has their own right to their own opinion on this movie and any controversy that follows it, but I disagree with taking it out on those that wish to just peacefully enjoy it for what it is, like myself. For Christ's sake, lighten up (It's what Aang would want!) Froman

After that, I went from thinking that it was all just a mistake and starting getting concerned about who was controlling this project. And I agree that the poster was a tad rude. Anger begets anger, bud. And as far as what Aang would want... Wouldn't he want us to stand up for justice and equality? I ask you, fellow Avatar fans: WWAD?

"And I agree that the poster was a tad rude. Anger begets anger, bud." Heehee, oops. I didn't quite mean for my own reply there to come out so 'angry'. The curse of the short sentence Sorry Just to clear the air a little here, I assure you I am by no means endorsing the racist tendencies of Hollywood (which, if you've done film studies becomes blatantly apparent). By all means, I would love a darker skinned Katara and Sokka, more Tibetan Aang and more Asian look to the whole thing in general. I was even a little annoyed when I found out they wouldn't be using Asian characters for the writing in the movie! HOWEVER, in respect for a fellow artist and in the spirit of not counting my chickens before they've hatched I'm not going to go around complaining about it. Personally, I want to enjoy this movie and if I start picking holes in it before it's even in the cinema I'm just setting myself up for disappointment. So, in short, yes you have my support on condemning Hollywood for its racism and blatant discrimination, but at the same time, this movie is ultimately just a movie and I would like to enjoy it as a movie. Call me a fence sitting, but I'm never good at picking sides, particularly when both have such valid points (when expressed correctly). WWAD? Well.... Yeah, he may want us to stick up for equality, no question. But at the same time, I think he would be saddened by the recent schism among the Avatar fan base because of this. In all honesty, I have complete faith in Mike and Bryan with this one. If they agree with where this movie is going (and being the producers, I assume they do) then I'll follow them. EnJoy-Peace Froman On the matter of these helmets... Awesome. So far I'm pretty impressed with the props for these films and the level of imagination that's going into them in some cases. It definitely makes up for some other minor disappointments I've had. I saw pictures of some of the water tribe weapons the other day too. I loved the way they've incorporated what looks like Pacific Islander bone carving patterns into them (though I realize they are probably not genuine). It's whats making me feel a lot safer about this movie, because, not matter what they do to the cast, the props and sets are coming out very much in the spirit of the show. Hoorah for compensation....kind of.

The last thing I am worried about is what the Fire Nation helmets look like >_< There are for sure going to be differences that us Avatar fans are no going to like. But from looking at pictures and watching videos I'm actually quite impressed with what I have seen so far. We can't be TOO picky or we will end up hating it before we see it. We all have to understand that...hey, this is Hollywood, very rarely do they make things perfect to the original. To say the least, I'm impressed so far...the end.

*sighs*..not with this crap again....geez..cant we all just stop pulling at eachothers hair about the race issue...seriously this sh** is happening in EVERY THREAD about the last airbender movie and it is getting old fast.... anywayy... back on topic i think that as a whole the helmets dont look too bad...may have a (do i dare say it) "plasticy" look to it..but the other props for the movie highly resemble the show (especially the northern water tribe!) and i dont believe Night to fail on props and placement...seems pretty spot on!

Um, you guys do realize that all the racebending talk in this thread is from 5+ months ago, right? Although I certainly understand how the conflict points can get frustrating after a while (you really think the racebending speech-givers enjoy saying the same points over and over?), this forum gives equal say to everyone, we just ask to keep it civil. Although one of the mods should have stepped in once the name-calling started, it's certainly too late by now, and no place to go but forward. As for keeping the racebending talk confined to one thread, I humbly disagree on the grounds that there are many intersecting areas regarding the show culture and movie culture, and that it would be like confining all show discussions to one thread. People are free to say what they like and dislike, so long as they keep it civil and aren't personally harassing others. As for the helmets and point of this thread, the drawing version is an interesting morph from the ATLA versions, but in the trailers they look a bit too LOTR-like for my tastes. Do you think the skull masks been cut from the design as well? I can't remember seeing them in the trailers. Tiny, tiny details, but Shyamalan seems to be tweaking all of it. (2¢)
