Aang is the Avatar right but he still human and needs to have a mom that gave birth to him and a dad who got her pregnat. I know he was reincarnated from Avatar Roku and Roku from Kyoshi but they were all given birth to. Maybe the creators ignored the idea of having anything in the show do with Aang's parents. Does Aang even care about who is parents were because he seems more concerned about the death of his teacher and father figure Gyatso. Any ideas anyone?

Why is that? Do you think a kid who never saw his parents does not think of them time to time. Also, I know he was brought up by Monks because I have watched every episode.

yes, his parents were air nomads. But like every other air nomad, they died a long time ago. And he was brought up by monks in a temple. So yeah, he may think of them from time to time, but: A - he probably remembers little of them B - he knows finding them is impossible, because they died decades ago at least Hence, the parents are irrelevant.

They might be irrelevant to the plot of the show but to Aang I think they are mystery he wants to know but will never find out until he finally dies.

Well honestly I think the culture of the air nomads is to have the community raise the child releasing the parents from that earthly tie. The Monks and Nuns gave up a lot of material desire to allow them to be more spiritually free. Think about it, a person can't really be contemplating the wonders of nature if they're worried about their kid getting into mischief.
Think of it as how the jedi kids are separated from their parents in star wars. The bonds created by family could lead to rash decisions and pure emotional choices.

His parents released him to the temple a long time ago, and we haven't gotten a notion of concern about them from Aang, so yes. So I agree with avatarsg. They are kind of pointless. He has more important things to worry about than his dead parents. that sounded mean... XD

In the scope of the story, I think Aang's parents are irrelevant.
He has never shown any interest in them. Gyatso and the other monks who raised him are his parents, and the other airbender children were his siblings. The norm in airbender culture appears to be that children are separated from their parents at a young age.

I'm sure Aang wondered about his parents, but Gyatso was his father figure. As Gamb said, it appears the children were sepearted from the parents at a young age, so it's not like he remembered his parents. My theory is that the Air Nomads were looking for the Avatar, so I'm sure all parents brought the children to the monks and performed the tests to see if it was the Avatar. The found out it was Aang, and he was raised.

Some cultures raise children communally as in the whole community raises them, I think that's what air nomads do...
I do, however, believe that Monk Gyatso is related to him in some way...

^^^^Yeah, that would be cool...but it would suck to for Aang to find out now after Gyatso's death...what if it was like his grandfather or sumthin? Sad stuff

Yeah, it's even possible for Gyatso to be Aang's Father, Men that old can still be fathers if they're healthy enough, and he seemed pretty healthy to me....
