But... but... but... nobody has been cast seriously, right? Keanu taking part hasn't been confirmed yet as far as I know. I actually think he might be able to pull off the Spike look. The thing that worries me about him is the stiffness he tends to have. Spike... is like water and Keanu... is like a plank. But maybe he won't be so bad... maybe.
I'm more worried about who is going to play Faye. I mean, there's lots of very beautiful actresses who could easily fill out Faye's famous wardrobe... but who's going to do justice to her actual character?
Cowboy Bebop is my second favorite animated series of all time. I'm exited about this live action movie, but I'm scared for the characters I love, know what I mean? Oh gosh, now the situation is getting similar to the A:TLA movie fiasco... LOL.
Keanu's not thaaat terrible. Like, he is a terrible actor, but if I were to make a list of every character ever, and rank them in order of which one Keanu would butcher the least, Spike would fair relatively well.
I believe Keanu was confirmed recently. "Like woah, lookit the bounties dude!"
I don't know. The movie already looks more promising than Dragonball (even though I will go see it regardless). Keanu's done some good movies (though he's still "like woah!"), and I don't think he'll absolutely butcher the part. And one has to think - is there really anyone cool enough to play Spike anyway? We'd be upset with anyone, really. He's just that cool of a dude.
The thing is that in my mind Keanu does fit the bill when it comes to Spike. Keanu best when he plays the kind of blank state character, where he absolutely is clueless over what's going on around him. I can't picture him being the coolio bounty hunter Spike who is always one step ahead of the curve.
Finding one of my posts on this forum is like finding the legendary magical leprechaun Sasquatch Unicorn.
Playing emotionless can be difficult though - sometimes more difficult than being emotional. As an actor, you're programmed to go over the top, so pulling back that much can be really tough. So I can't really rip on him for that.
I don't know. It's not the worst choice in the world (coughJesseMcCartneycough) so I'll kind of have to wait and see to form my opinion.
He's also kind of casual though which Keanu might get. He was tolerable in "A Scanner Darkly," and did anyone see "Constantine"? I didn't but I imagine he'd play Constantine kinda like he would Spike.
Then again, Klaatu is an emotionless wooden alien, and he somehow managed to fail at that.
I saw Constantine, and from what I remember about his character, he'd make a very moody and bitter Spike. Same goes for his character from Hardball. However, I saw those movies such a long time ago, so there might be something I missed... maybe.
I just caught the beginning of the movie Street Kings. I couldn't stick around to watch the rest, but Keanu was there... having a gun fight... in a convenience store...
Anyone else ever see him in a Spike-ish scene in something else?
Street Kings is probably the movie that gives me faith in his role as Spike - though I only rented the thing to see Hugh Laurie's ten to twenty minutes. XD It was a cool movie, and Keanu did really well in it.
I heard it's Episode One extended to movie length.
Oh dear, I hope not. If they are gonna make a movie about one of the episodes make it The Real Folk Blues, or Jupiter Jazz, or even Ballad of Fallen Angels. They practically define the major plot of series anyway, the others are just random adventures.
Peter Vincent and Alucard should get to together and shove a stake up Edward Cullen's sparkly vampire-wannabe bum. OH SHI--
