The innkeeper nodded. The young woman looked new to the city, so she probably didn't have much money. "Right. No trouble there." She pointed to Abeni. "What about the little one? You want two beds or one?"
Ikram absently scuffed a bit of dust with his toe as he listened to the exchange. If he was interested, then he had one woman right there who wouldn't turn down. He smirked; he always did have a thing for older women. But Saiki was so aloof... And oh, he liked when they were aloof.

Horyo: We totally understand. It's been a rough summer for a lot of us, and we've been meaning to get started again anyhow. Thanks for moving us :3

Notice to all members: We are going to start again! I apologize sincerly for the lack of activity. We've lost Atmos until sometime in August due to college. I have been without internet for a long while due to work, moving, and a divorce that involves me having to testify in court. And I apologize my returning post is nothign to be happy about.
Matsu looked between Fenny and Pao. Should he really stay with her now? They had kept each other safe this entire time. But now she was surely going to go and look for the man she had fallen in love with. Still, he did not want to leave her. Quietly he rubbed the back of his neck and looked quietly at Fenny. "I will go where you do.."
Abeni hid behind Saiki as they went to the hotel. "I've never slept in a bed." She whispered. How much was a room anyway? She hoped that had enough. Back at home they would just trade things.

Fenny glanced over at Pao. "I think we'll be alright. The Jade Comb isn't far up the road. You said he just needs some rest, right?"
Pao nodded. "He should be fine, but he does have some poison left in his system. I have some herbal teas that should fix that, I'll bring them with me to the Festival tonight and you can get them from me there. You're better off resting at this time of day anyway, in an hour or so it will be the full heat of the day and all the shops will close down for break. No one goes out during the hottest part of the day." He went to the door to gesture the doctor back in and to thank him, then turned back to Fenny and Matsu. "If you do not need me, then I will continue my shopping and return back to my clinic. I will see you again this evening."
"'Looking forward to it." Fenny replied as he left. She looked back at Matsu and grinned. "If you're alright, we can go ahead and leave. Best if we leave this gentleman to his work." she said in a lower voice as Pao and the doctor talked in the foyer.

((Gah, I feel bad because it was my turn to post and I kept being lazy. But I'll post more on the weekends because I can't get on during the week))
Saiki struggled not to stare at Abeni in shock. Never slept in a bed? What kind of life do sandbenders live out there? She turned her attention back to the innkeeper. "Two beds, please." Frankly she had never been very comfortable with physical contact and closeness, especially with some child she barely knew. Pulling out her coin purse, Saiki couldn't help but notice how thin it was. Just getting to the city had used up most of her meager resources. "How much?" she asked, hoping it wouldn't be all of her remaining money.
Sweeping aside the curtain that served as a doorway during the day, Huojin swept back into her shop, leaving the two City guards behind her to follow. Her mind was focusing on other things; she had already begun mentally assembling the ingredients for the remaining fireworks. Swiftly Huojin pulled down bunches of herbs and plants from the ceiling, selecting and discarding leaves and roots. A faint *bump* from the area where she had left her patient caused her to spin around and glare at the two clumsy guards. They murmured apologies and finished moving the patient onto the stretcher that they had brought with them for that purpose.
Huojin winced as one of them hit the side of the stretcher against the doorway on their way out, then returned to the task at hand. She had only a few hours to finish the fireworks for that night's Festival and then she still had to set them up and explain their usage to the non-firebenders who had never seen such a thing. A small puff of smoke and a few bright sparks erupted from the container in front of her, briefly filling the small space with light. Good. At least I can remember the formula. Quickly, Huojin began assembling the fireworks by placing her herb mixtures into clay vessels of various sizes, then adding a long rope wick for the non-firebenders. A pile emerged in the corner of her shop as she continued mixing different herbs into different vessels for more varied types of fireworks.

Matsu bowed respectfully and low towards Pao. "Thank you for your help, Sir." He followed Fenny quickly. "Um, Fenny, I cannot afford to stay in a hotel Noa and I..." What were him and Noa doing? He had lost his friend in the chaos of the city.
"I can work so we have beds." Abeni tugged on Saiki again. She had always been ordered to do her fair share of work at home. Of course, she had never been good at it though.

"No, I've got this. Pao said that rooms were filling up fast, so I went ahead and got two, no point sleeping on the streets when you're in a city. Hopefully Noa's found his own place. He shouldn't be too far, you two can meet up and make permanent plans tomorrow when the Festival's over. Or even tonight, if you're in a hurry." she waved away his worries as they got back to the streets, Fenny taking a moment to get her bearings. "Mm. That way."

"Don't worry about it," Saiki whispered to Abeni. There was no way she was going to let a child work, especially since she was supposed to be in charge of her. Although Saiki couldn't help but wonder how she was going to find a job in the city. She needed money, and fast, but she didn't have any real skills other then bending. She turned back to the innkeeper, her purse still in her hand. Maybe she knows of someone looking to hire an extra hand.

OOC- For the record, I asked our dear TGM to notify all the former members that we were starting again x3 ALSO ON THAT NOTE! TGM AND I WILL BE AT DRAGON*CON! Matsu rubbed his arm, he didn't know how to describe how much better he was feeling already. Being alone with Fenny made a rush go through him. This was the first time he had ACTUALLY been alone with her. "You trust me enough to...sleep in the same room?" He asked as he followed her, resembling a lopsided shadow. OOC (again)- DBA, did you and 8leggedbutterfly have anything planned so far?I haven't seen her online lately so I don't know if she's still..here, really.

((OOC: Yay! Started again. Sorry I haven't been keeping up - just message/poke/send secret ninja squad to get me if one of my characters is ever needed. (: And I don't exactly get the currency system going, so I guessed. If it's not right, just lemme know!))
The innkeeper surveyed the young woman and child. They didn't seem to have much. She'd love to help them, but... She needed to help herself more. Ikram would no doubt help, but he was one person it wasn't always wise to be in debt to.
"Well, thirty brass or so normally, but..." She crossed her arms and gave Saiki an intent, penetrating stare. "Had a bit of a lull and I don't have any help. If you're willing to work the rest off, I can let you and the girl stay for..." She waved her hand thoughtfully. "We'll say fifteen. Just during the Star Festival while you're here; nothing permanent."
"Good deal," Ikram said casually, hoping Saiki would take the offer.

"Thank you," Saiki said gratefully, looking down at the floor to avoid the woman's stare. Fifteen brass would use up most of her remaining money, but thirty would have been simply impossible. She took the coins out of her purse and held them out to the innkeeper. "Umm...what's the Star Festival?" she asked, embarrassed by her ignorance.
((OOC--I've got a lot of free time now so I'll set up a standard currency system within the next week or so; how many of x coins equals y coins, average prices and stuff))

OOC- Thank you SO much darkblood. From what I know though, Z is gone and busy because of moving back to her college campus.
"Festival? What's a festival?" Abeni quipped. Now that she was away from her family, and had been exposed to Saiki and Ikram she was starting to open up. She slowly untangled her hands from Saiki's pant leg and looked up at Ikram. "What's a festival? Is it fun? Can I draw?" She stopped after that, maybe she had talked to much. She looked down at the ground.

OOC: Sorry I disappeared, folks. My sorority was on lock down for RUSH, so we've been working our butts off around the clock for the past ten days. But I'm finally the back. :3
"Of course I trust you, you're my friend. It's not like you've tried to back stab me or anything." Fenny said nonchalantly, not picking up on his embarassment. She had grown up in extremely close quarters, so the question did not seem forward at all to her. "But actually, you have your own room, your own quarters. Here." she stopped, looking up at the tall building with the green roof. It was two stories high and well kept, with the stone walls scrubbed clean of dust. A little wooden sign outside advertised the building as 'The Jade Comb'.
