Can you picture McCartney with Zuko's S1 hairdo? xDD Omg, that is more amusing than horrifying.
I honestly think that Peltz resembles Toph more than Katara. (Especially with her height.) And Rathbone looks so much older than her, while he's only supposed to be a year or two older.
Hmmm, this cast is so wrong. :/ But I guess it's better to reserve judgement until we actually see it all on the screen. Maybe they, even McCartney, will surprise us.

Wow, this is... beyond disappointing. Not a single Asian/Pacific Islander/Inuit among the main cast (which is criminal). This doesn't even take into account the huuuuuuuge age difference between Sokka and Katara (who are only supposed to be a year apart - so close in age, that Katara often appears to be the older of the two!). On the upside, I suppose that's $10 I just saved.

...it looks like the old ones won't be touching this thing with an immeasurably long barge pole. Agreed; I wonder who will attend this thing. So much for hopeful optimism. But that's just what's he's so full of, alt! ('I R Zuko, la la la...') On the upside, I suppose that's $10 I just saved. Or $40+, in other cases. ($10? You already weren't planning on taking the husband with you, then ~ smart girl.) Regardless of what these kids look like (which is already so blatantly disappointing that I won't go into it), can they act? I'm not familiar with any of them. So to me it sounds like yet another last-ditch effort by the dinosaur Viacom to wring a few more bucks out of the already-mistreated property. 'Scuse me while I go hulu something more interesting.

Is this a joke? Seriously.
The avatar fandom is going to be invaded by Twilight fangirls and Jesse fangirls now. God help us all.

Rofl, Tung! xD
@bc - Ooh, Mushishi? Good show. =D
And I doubt any of the actors, especially McCartney, can act decently. Which fails. Especially for the role of Zuko. Wtf, it is an important and difficult role, a competent actor should have been chosen, not a popstar.

Well because of this, I'm sure there will be plenty of Protests of epidemic kinds from what I'm looking at, as well as not seeing other Races being involved with the movie as what the animated series saw, which in turn runs into even MORE controversy in this mess, well just prey there won't be an Avatard Riot going around soon.

All my faith in humanity is now gone....
Seriously this film will now BOMB because really its depending on the fans of the show to go and see it but pissing everyone of us off with more and more stupid decicions isnt the way to go. One of the most important and treasured shows to me (and many others on these boards) will just be completely slaughtered

And thus Avatar is going the same way as the DBZ movie (but I'll still go see both) D:.
I don't have anything against Jesse McCartney - he played Roxas in KH2 very well, in my opinion. HOWEVER - out of all the cast of Avatar, ZUKO was very clearly ASIAN. Clearly. They couldn't have just one? I mean? Wow.

I'm guessing Shyamalan is trying to appeal more to the tweens in his casting for Zuko by gettin Jessie. Also the younger Katara my guess is to make Aang and Katara seem more plausible. By the looks of it you could of have either an all Asian cast or an all Caucasian cast having a mix given the world would be a bit iffy. Seeing how the audience is mainly Caucasian kids I'm guessing that M Night went with this casting decision makes it easier for kids to relate to the characters. and If they go for this route they better get the VA for Zhao to play Zhao. I still think it would just be weird having an all white cast giving the highly Asianized setting. Hopefully it won't look like a bunch of cosplayers trying to dress up as massive Asian stereotypes.

Even though it's sunk in a bit, I'm still choking over Jesse McCartney even being able to ask for a part, let alone Zuko's. I really hope these choices aren't set in stone. Although I can sort of see Sokka's jawline in Jackson and Katara's general face shape in Nicola, I would very much prefer if they used ethnic actors instead. However, all may not be lost. Word is being spread about writing letters to the Paramount Pictures producers in charge of the movie urging to change the casting -- you can read more about it at Aang Ain't White @ LJ.com. </advertisement>

LOL, I hadn't even calculated that in - so the savings are getting even bigger! I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Shyamalan!
