Hello, obvious I am new here so I would like to say hello. I came here in hope to find some help for a “project” I have to do. My Girlfriend recently celebrated her birthday and one of her wishes were that I write a story for her (which I do sometimes, she thinks I am good at this, I disagree but since it makes her happy I do it for her). The problem is that this time she just not want any kind of story but one about one of her favourite cartoon shows. I could pick from several different shows, the problem is..I am not really a fan of any of them. I don't like cartoon shows usually (and even despite those japanese ones), but since I had to pick one I chose Avatar since it is pretty much the only show of her that I find watchable. The problem is since I am not really a Fan of the show I don't know that much about it or the world it plays in which is kind of a problem if you want a story about it. But since there it seems to have a huge following I turned my hope to the Internet hoping to find information and ressources (or maybe even advices) which would help me in my task. Because if I fail or do not live to expectation the planned christmas holiday we had planned might get a little bit frosty, and I don't even know most of the names of the characters (I am not good at remembering names. I usually remember them by nicknames like sarcasm guy, goth girl, uncle tea etc)
So long story short: I came here in the hope to be able to ask a lot of stupid question, despite not being a “true follower” of the show. I have also start reading on this side (and others, I even found a Wikipedia like side only about Avatar...which will certainly be useful for me but it also somewhat surprises me that so many people are willing to spend so much of their free time working on things like this), but it is so much information that I am not really sure where to start looking. (there is no “Avatar for dummies book”, I looked).
Further I would like to excuse myself for my English. Like you have most likely already noticed it is not my mother language. I'll try my best to write in an understandable manner but I will surely will make quite a lot of mistakes. I hope you can forgive me for this.
I already found quite a few things that might prove helpful but also returned with a few questions I could yet not find answers too:
At what age are teenager considered adult? (able to join the army, marry etc).
Can females serve in all armies (except water where, if i remember right they are not allowed to fight).
What specifications has Sokkas weapon? How long is it? Is it sharp? (can it cut through things) or is it a blunt weapon and used like a club?
Who is Zukara? (Seen the name a lot of times, but when I enter it in the wiki I end up in a Category page for relationships).
Does every character have only a single name?
Has the world they live in a name? Or can it simply be called Earth?
