Some time passed, and Hisae's tears slowed. She could not cry forever, she knew, and losing too much water and salt would do her health no good either. Her wrists still ached, but the pain was more a dull nuisance than anything. Looking around, everything was the same bleak picture. The boy near her was still sleeping. A few prisoners were talking amongst themselves in hushed tones. Some people embraced others, but most sat in solemn silence.
Apart from the buzz of melancholy whispers, all was eerily silent. Hisae knew that something else would probably happen that day. The fire nation soldiers did not like to let their prisoners sit idly. She saw some guards start to speak up at the top of the gate, or that was what it appeared to be. She saw others joking around. They were all having a wonderful time; seeing others suffer must make them happy, Hisae thought with pain. What else could possibly drive them to do such terrible things?
The afternoon bell rang loudly and suddenly, sending a start though all the prisoners, even the ones who had been there for some time and knew that it was coming. Hisae saw about ten firebenders who appeared to be of high ranking in the army start descending the stairs from the wall into the courtyard. Something was probably going to happen now, and Hisae had a bad feeling. She felt vulnerable, sitting alone and apart; any of those men could easily attack her again. She involuntatily shrank back against the wall, as though if she tried hard enough she could conceal her body like she tried to conceal her memory.

Grumbling quietly, Nashk stepped forward in an exaggerated stagger, trying to maintain his guise of a man weakened by sickness, even if it didnt fool anybody. Nashks emerald green eyes flashed over the the prisoners, assesing their numbers, age groups, and strength. Nashk's mind was swarmed with these statistics, viewable in his mind everytime he closed his eyes.
Somewhere a bell rang, causing Nashk to snap to attention in the earthbenders military style. His feet snapped together and, his arm smacked across his chest.
This caused Nashk to curse quietly, detaching himself from his conditioned training. He would have to watch how he acted here, each move not thought out carefully would waste his plans.
One more time he scanned the prisoners, a sorry bunch in rags and clothing more tattered than his own, even their mood was more depressed and weary than Nashk's.
The cursed bell that Nashk decided he would hate, brought more than just annoying noise. Ten firebender who looked of surprisingly high rank descended the bleak stairs. The look they gave the prisoners made Nashk's spine tingle, their expression was nothing but pure malice.
Mutterin curses under his breath, he chanced a glance at the opposite wall. Prisoners lined the wall, as if they were to be sold in a vender. Nashk scrutinized them with care, he would need a companion for his plans. Someone with youthful energy, and intelligent enough to keep his/her mouth closed.
One person caught his eye, a young woman crouched to a wall, pressing herself against hte wall as if it was a sancuary.
"As if their is any sancuary here..." Nashk grumbled under his breath.
Nashk almost turned away, he almost ignored hte girl to go find a way to escape, but no. His pity overwhelmed his senses. Slowly in his fake hobble, he ambled towards the girl.
Soon he stood over her, his piercing eyes observing her every move. He saw the sadness in her movement, the fear in every flinch.
"..."
With a sigh he plopped down next to her, leting his weary body rest. He couldnt help but feel idiotic for feeling such pity, however he knew he couldnt ignore these people, even if it meant his own saftey.
"... Why do you dispair young one? This prison isnt THAT bad, should you not be enjoying life?"

(Mkay, I guess you guys just happen to be in my port now. I'm on a ship with Hisea and Nashk. Hope you dont mind.)
Kagoshi stood up just as a bell rang somewhere. " Oww.." she groaned, clutching her knee. It had started bleeding when she fell." Darnnit. This sucks. Bad. I'm almost out of bandages." She grabbed her backpack, and pulled out a roll of white cloth. Half of it was gone. She wrapped a small bit around her knee and stod up, sighing with pain. A soldier walked over to her.
" You'll need to leave in about an hour, there's work to be done.." said the guard, looking exasperated.
"Fine," she smiled. Then, she hurried over to where the prisoners were." Might as well as start my work here. Eh?" She looked around. There was a girl sitting slumped up next to a wall. She had a sad look on her face, and there was a guy crouched up right next to her. 'Wow taht guy's kinda cute,' she thought to herself. Then she walked quietly over to them. " Is something wrong? I saw you guys, and you seemed so sad. Not just because you are in a prison, is it?" She bit her lip. "Hope I'm not intruding, though."
(sorry its so short....)

(Sakura: It's NOT a ship xD It's a prison IN the FN. There is no ship in this story. What you have is fine, I just want to clear up that it is on land xD)
Hisae looked upon the older man with horror. Her pupils dialated and her heart rate increased. She wanted to run. This was just another man, and her instincts only saw danger. She wasn't going to think things through logically. She wanted to get away, but she was glued to the spot with fear. As the blood rushed through her body her hands had anothre spasm of pain, and she involuntarily cringed, and then cradled her arms in her lap.
The man had simply sat down and was speaking gently, but Hisae's memory of the fire nation soldier flashed before her eyes. Her vision became blurry. She didn't want to be this close to anyone ever again.
She saw the guards reach the metal courtyard. She wondered what they were going to do. Any man frightened her, especially firebenders. Hisae saw nowhere to run; if she ran
Then she saw a strange sight; a fire nation girl among the prisoners walking in her direction. She wasn't dressed in the typical fire nation garb but every feature showed that she was fire nation: her amber eyes, her black hair, and, most obviously, she wasn't in rags like the rest of the prisoners. She looked healthy.
Hisae wondered what a fire nation girl was doing here, in a prison camp with people she probably hated. Hisae felt less alarmed when the girl came over, but she just wanted to sleep again, to feel the darkness. She didn't want to talk to someone who was part of the nation that had destroyed her village. The girl had an injury on her knee. Hisae wished her own injury was that mild. She imagined that this girl had never felt the pain she was feeling right now.
Hisae heard the girl's question, but all she did was remain quiet, shaking slightly as more tears formed. Was that supposed to be a joke, was this well-off girl teasing her? Maybe, maybe not. It's likely that she never saw the horrors that Hisae did. But the metal walls around her weren't the worst thing. If her injuries did heal, she would forever have the scars on her wrists to remind her of that horrible day. Hisae wasn't about to tell all this to a stranger.
(just as a side note, you guys realise what the FN soldier back there "did" to Hisae, right? I just implied it with the story, but I'm trying to keep this clean for a PG-13 and under forum)

(I thought something tragic like that had happened, I didnt think it was appropriate to ask about it in this forum . ) Nashk observed the frail girl carefully, keeping note of her strange reactions. To avoid frightening the girl further, he slowed his movements, and quieted his voice. "I suppose you have no reason to talk... but then, why should one so young keep quiet?" Thats when he noticed the most curious of sights. A young firenation girl was walking cautiosly toward them. She was obviously of firenation breed, amber eyes, and jet black hair. However the way she carried herself was diffrent than most of hte firenation. She seemed slightly timid, someone who has seen the dangers of the world, yet ill equiped to handle it. NAshk listened intently to her questions, trying to figurehte reason this girl would want with Earth nation prisoners. "Somthing wrong? No there is nothing wrong. Three meals of lovely thin tasteless soup a day, followed with good musclebuilding labor and no sickdays. I would have to say we are perfectly fine." Grunting in discomfort, Nashk struggled to his feet. His dirty unkempt hair hung from his head. Dirt covered his tattered clothing. "Now the question is....LITTLE LADY. What are YOU doing here among the prisoners?" Nashk towered over the two young ladies, his body covered in scars aquired by his short military sevice. "I highly doubt you are here on vacation. Though if you are, I would have to say this is a poor location to do so." (Im SOOO sorry about Nashk's threataning tone, Im just trying to keep him in character."

(Oh Im sorry, hope Im not scaring you ^^)
Kagoshi drew back. These people seemed to hate her. Everything she said came rushing back to her in a flash. She bit her lip even harder. It srtated bleeding, her sharp teeth growing red. " I'm sorry if I frightened you," she said, tears welling in her eyes. " I didnt mean any harm. I'm here because I usually come here to comfort the prisoners who.. dont have any hope left. I'm a firebender, but I haven't hurt anyone except myself using bending. Other than play, of course. My mom was an earthbedner... and they killed her. I live with my dad, who's a soldier in the Fire Nation. Please dont take this the wrong way." She sighed." Why am I even telling you this?"
( For your info my girl had really TOUGH survival training. Like, army training You can't exactly call her ill equipped.)

Hisae looked towards the two with intrigue. It didn't look like they were about to start arguing, but it almost seemed as if the man was defending her. Strange...
And the girl sounded pretty sincere. She probably had no idea what brought each prisoner here, and she probably had never experienced an attack, being a firebender. But her mother was earth kingdom? Hisae wondered whether this was true or not. But suddenly, she think she understood, and she had a burst of fear. Her mother was earth kingdom.... Hisae had regained consciousness after the attack, but not knowing how long the encounter had been. If she was to bear a child here...
Would they kill her too?
The fire nation girl's eyes were tearing and Hisae looked up. Hisae was still in pain, and closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again. She did not approach the two people or say a word, but she wanted to hear more.

"I remember it.She was teaching me, at my house in the FN, to hate the war.The government found out. They came for her, and when I wouldn't let go, threw me across the room. All I remember is a burst of fire. Now this is what I get for helping people. I come to help them, and they push me away." Kagoshi leaned in a little closer, checking around for guards." And I...I can get some of them to safety, but they never come. They say they would rather die here. I should just give up. No one will EVER trust a Firebender." Her eyes flashed, and her voice became hard. She hugged her knees as she sank down to the ground, leaning against the wall. She closed her eyes softly." I wish this thing had never started. I should give up on the F.N.R., should't I?" Her voice was colorless, but you could tell she was in pain for saying all this.

The Yu Yan Archery class of Kazuo was supposed to watch the full-trained Yu Yan archers in the Prison Camp today. It was an exiting moment; after all, every Yu Yan archer knew that starting at a prison camp was the base of serving the Fire Nation as one of its greatest Archers. The guys at the Prison Camp were still working at their base, but Kazuo was smart. He’d take notes and his advantage of becoming one of the greatest Yu Yan Archers of the Fire Nation would increase.
At the moment, the class was on their way to the Prison Camp; it was quite close actually. But the fact that they didn’t have to walk a lot wasn’t what made Kazuo this happy. It was the fact that he would see his dad. His very own dad who just arrived after nine whole years worked in the Prison Camp next to his own Academy! How fortunate could he be!
“We arrived”, the teacher said. “Now I expect that every single one of you will behave themselves and respect the Yu Yan Archers who are demonstrating some tricks to you. They actually give up their time for you, so whenever I notice one of you doing anything that I won’t tolerate…….., I shouldn’t say that, should I?! Do I make myself clear!” added the teacher warning the boys.
Then a man appeared and the boys greeted him. The soldier put off his mask and showed his face. “Dad!”, Kazuo said whispering. His father winked at him. “Greetings”, he said, “I’m Kazuo’s father, also known as the one who is in charge of this place.” The guys all watched Kazuo and Kazuo knew some envied him. They envied him because his father returned; some of their fathers never would or were stuck in the Earth Kingdom. He felt sorry for them.
As the class were walking and Kazuo’s dad was explaining, Kazuo saw a lot of people; prisoners. They felt miserably from what he could see. Those eyes full of sadness and waiting for the day to come… the day that they could be free. Kazuo saw a girl leaning against a wall and a guy next to her. His sympathy for them soon vanished when he thought about the Fire Nation’s oath. Those failures; they deserved to get this. They deserved to get this; after all, they opposed the Fire Lord when he requested them to become one nation of peace! They deserved this! His eyes sharpened and Kazuo suddenly became very angry.
However, it soon disappeared when he also saw a Fire Nation girl amongst them. She was talking to the girl and guy. Why?!, he thought. Why would a girl of the Fire Nation ever talk to those filthy people? He didn’t understand, yet it did leave him wondering.
(It obviously shows that Kazuo thinks the Fire Nation is right)

(If your dad's in charge, my dad's a visiting general ) Suddenly, Kagoshi perked up.The sound of footsteps reached her ears. She turned around and saw a group of people coming. One of them seemed to be staring at her." I must go, but'll come tommorrow," she whispered, and walked off. Her footsteps quickened as she reached her father's office, pulled out some paperwork that was left for him to grade, and closed the door. "Hello, Kagoshi," said a voice from behind her. Kagoshi must've jumped a foot in the air. She whirled around and went into battle stance. Then she saw who it was, and gave him a hug. " Dad!" she smiled. Then, a boy came out from behind him, grinning."And Syaoran-san! I'm glad you're here. Sorry I took so long;I brought your paperwork here, but I couldn't find you're other ones. Then, one of the papers blew away and I had to get it back. One of the prisoners found it, so I'm fine now! AND, I found your other ones. Aparrently, they were brought later." She didn't mind a simple lie. It was all for protection. " Well, I came over to see if the Yu Yan Archers that were supposed to be coming today had arrived safely," Kagoshi's father explained." They've come to show a special demenstration to the boys at the archery academy." " The one I wish I had joined," Syaoran sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. "You only want to join because the uniforms are awesome," Kagoshi giggled as they headed toward the gate. "Plus,I have more accuracy then you do, so you wouldn't have made it.Too bad it's boys only. I would've joined. " "You're better at everything," Syaoran replied, frowning. His angriness was proved fake,as he winked at her. As they reached the gate, Kagoshi's father turned to a soldier at the gate. "Have the Yu Yan archers arrived safely?" Kagoshi and Syaoran bowed to the man at the gate."Sir," they said in unision. Then, Kagoshi realized she was standing near the group, and the boy that was staring before was looking at her again. She glared into his light-brown eyes, her face hard and her eyes flashing. Who was he to stare at her? she thought angrily.

(Whoops, sorry about the late reply. ) Nashks eye twitched with frustration. Things kept getting more complicated with every passing moment. He chanced a glance at the strange girls deep amber eyes. Genuine sadness that could drown a platypus bear. Nashk opened his mouth to speak, to explain things a little nicer and maybe inform the poor girl about how and why each prisoner is here. However before the first syllable even left his mouth, she hastily began to babble on about how she was taught, how she viewed things. It was all quite to much for him. "No hold on little..." Nashk attempted to speak. Then as suddenly as the girl arrived, she was gone. Off speeding to the nearest gate. She had left a path of confusion and chaos in her wake. With a sigh Nashk sat back down. He couldn't help but rub his temple, all this frustration was killing him. He turned back toward the quiet girl, and was surprised to see see she was observing him closely with bright jade green eyes. Nashk waited for her to say something, but still she remained quiet. He decided he would break the silence himself. "Now that was a strange sight eh? I didn't think I would ever see a sight like that... Hm she had not even mentioned her name... Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet have I?" Struggling to his feet, Nashk dusted himself off. He smiled warmly, holding out his massive hand. "I am known as Nashk, its nice to meet you." (I just noticed how many grammatical errors were in my last few posts, sorry about that. I'm going to start using spell check. )

Hisae looked up at the man who called himself Nashk. He didn't look threatening, and it almost seemed as if he had understood her pain and for that tried to keep away the fire nation girl.
She wondered for a moment whether he was sincere or trying to fool her, but only for a moment. When he smiled, it was nothing like the malice she had seen on the face of the fire nation soldiers. Quite the contrary: she suddenly had a vision of Aki-sama's smile in her mind, telling her to follow her dreams. Aki's spirit had left this world long ago, but she remained in Hisae's heart, nearly forgotten with all the events of late. Nashk's smile reminded her of Aki.
Hisae didn't quite smile, but her fear was no longer there. She did not extend her hand; her wrists still hurt and she was afraid of any touch, however small it might have seemed in the past.
"I'm...Hisae," she said slowly. She had not spoken for several days, and she was shocked that she spoke just now.
(Aki was on old woman Hisae lived with when she was very small.)

Kazuo was taking notes of the demonstration, he wanted to make sure he’d become one of the greatest Yu Yan Archers. Nonetheless, the flashing eyes of the Fire Nation girl engraved the eyes of Kazuo. The girl watched him several times and the last time she looked quite offended. When he saw her facial expression, Kazuo turned and didn’t glare at her anymore. Kazuo knew it was very rude to glare to someone else, yet he felt that this girl, who probably was a teenager, was trying to help these prisoners. With that thought he felt like she was the one to blame of rudeness! Kazuo felt the anger rise again. Maybe it wasn’t anger? Was it right to call this feeling anger?
He looked at the girl another time, despite of the demonstration. She seemed to talk to a soldier and a guy next to her. The guy was Fire Nation as well, that was obvious. He wondered if the males next to her were related to her in some kind of way. It had to be, how was she able to enter this Prison Camp otherwise? She certainly was far too young to work here as a cook. That was the only job Kazuo could think of for such a young girl. Her looks gave away she wasn’t a soldier anyways.
“The demonstration will continue after you guys have eaten your lunch. It is offered by the cook of the Prison Camp, so show him respect and gratefulness. That is what I expect of polite, well-trained Yu Yan Archers, you certainly don’t want to leave a wrong impression, do you?” said the teacher. “Understood sir!” replied the young Archers respectful to their teacher. While walking to the kitchen of the Prison Camp, Kazuo’s father walked up to Kazuo and separated him from the rest.
“Kazuo, you seem quite distracted, what is going on son?” asked Father Soji to his firstborn. Kazuo felt as if he was caught, but it didn’t surprise him. After all, the man is his father. “Uhh, dad I didn’t feel so good, there’s nothing wrong now. I feel better already” lied Kazuo while he smiled. His father gave him a strange look, yet he answered: “Okay then, try to stay focused, if there is really something, just tell” said father Soji quite worried. “Yes dad, I will” replied Kazuo guilty. He felt horrible to lie to his father, which just wasn’t the way he was. And so soon already, but he had to. In some way he couldn’t speak his mind. “Shall we eat then?” Kazuo’s father asked hungrily. “Yeah, I’m starving dad!” answered Kazuo feeling better.
But while Kazuo and his father walked down the path, he saw a prisoner looking at him, with what seemed dead eyes. The prisoner was an old man, with long grey hair and eyes that seemed the deepest green that existed. Yet his eyes seemed dead. As if the prisoner was telling him that he didn’t knew what the word ‘starving’ meant. Kazuo felt sympathy for those prisoners again, but he didn’t understand. Why am I feeling this way? It’s wrong, they were wrong! I can’t oppose my Fire Lord, my Nation! he thought. Although Kazuo was trying to wrestle with his conscience, he still felt some sympathy for the prisoner.
He shook his head and then his eyes fell on the spot where the Fire Nation girl stood. She was gone, the soldier and the other guy as well. He only saw the two prisoners there, still sitting to the wall. It seemed that the male was extending his hand to the girl. “Kazuo, are you worrying about something? You know you can tell me, right?” general Soji asked. “Uhh, yeah, dad, of course! I was just thinking about Natsuko, she would have loved to see some skilled Archers doing their demonstration” lied Kazuo again. “Don’t worry about your sister, you’ll show her once, when you’ll become one of the greatest Yu Yan Archers of the whole world.” And then they disappeared in the shadow of the hallway which would lead them to the kitchen.
(Sorry Sakura, but school has been bugging me -_-‘’)

(Its okay. Hey why doesn't your OC meet up with Kago at the Public Archery Range? They really need to talk.Like, seriously. She should intrest you in FNR. It like SPEW, but better ^^)
Kagoshi looked at the boy until she couldn't see him anymore. Then she sighed. " Dad, is it okay if I can go to the archery range? I have some things I need to work out. ALONE," she said quietly when Syaoran was about to speak. Her father nodded." Be home by dark." Then, he waved, smiled softly, and walked towards the village. Kagoshi turned to see Syaoran lagging behind, looking quizical." FNR?" he said softly. "FNR," she replied, a certain tiredness to her voice. Then Syaoran hugged her for a moment, and, frowning slightly, he hurried after her dad.
Sighing again, she ran over to the Public Archery Range. It was actually a part of the archery school, but they let other people use it, as long as no one from school was on it. She extracted a bow, ten arrows, and about five throwing knives from the shed. Using careful accuracy, she loaded her bow and shot. The arrow pierced the target, landing on the outer circle. she shot about four arrows, the fast speed and concentration slowing her down. She couldn't stop thinking about the boy. He had spotted her with the prisoners. Then, anger shot through her, and she picked up a knife and hurled it at the target. Suprisingly, it hit a bulls eye, but Kagoshi didn't care. She hated the Fire Lord for starting the war, and she hated the Avatar for letting it happen. She hurled a ball of fire at the ground. Then, footsteps aroused her attention, and she turned around.
