Okies, boys and girls. I know I posted something like this last year...but, like any good holiday, even bad things repeat: October is Breast cancer Awareness Month.
What does that mean for you?
Well, if you are a guy, not that much. Of course, men can have it, too, but it's pretty rare.
And that leaves girls of all ages. best way yet is to perform self-exams.
Know your own body, so any and all changes are noticed. Monthly is recommended, any more frequent, you might get used to it...no, the gradual changes, not the exam, Silly!
HOWEVER!!!!!
That does not restrict itself to the bust. ANY part of the body! So you check moles and such, skin cancer is also very real!
And everybody should have a yearly check up. If that's the only doctor you see, a gynecologist is it for girls, even the gentlemen should see a specialist for 'down under' to make sure the equipment is in working order.
NO, it is not a pleasant experience! But it is so much nicer then slowly wasting away from a preventable disease!
Why, you ask, is she posting this?
very simple. Last year at this time my sister was told her breast cancer had spread to the bones. She passed away this spring, in a slow and agonizing way I wouldn't wish onto my worst enemy! And be aware: This type of illness has far reaching impact on everybody!
So what if the only specialist in town is the opposite gender! They have seen it all, in all shapes and sizes, colors and ages, fuzzy and bald and what else you can do to it! It won't be nice, but build a trust relationship with said doctor, bring, Mom, Grandma, Aunt or BFF along if you think you need the support, but go!
And if you actually USE the equipment this is much more important anyhow!
