No, probably not. But after a while, you run out of things to talk about. Especially since Kataang ended up canon. That takes away any alternate ships, at least until they're older - if ever, and they kissed several times, so that kills the fanfics for their first kiss. Same with Maiko. And, technically, whatever Sokka and Suki are called. Though I really never saw what was between those two... it never made sense to me. And, of course, all the theories for just about everything else have completely run dry. That, I totally agree with. It makes me wonder why everyone wants their ship to be "canon" cause, frankly, when a ship is canon, there's not much left to the imagination. I've only seen one cartoon succeed with a real, established canon relationship is probably Kim Possible. And that only made it one more season. In fact, putting a canon, established relationship that ends up rather "happily ever after" pretty much kills a series. That's why I wished they'd left it a little more open at the end. It would've left a lot more available for discussion. But, seeing as that's the end of the series, I can see why they wanted to tie loose ends.

Yeah. I pretty much have mixed feelings on the whole canon thing. On the one hand, I'm a DIE hard shipper. Give me a ship, and I'll sail it for miles. I've written over 75 fanfics all centered around one couple - Yumi and Ulrich from Code Lyoko. I wanted them together in the end of the series, but it didn't happen. (The closest I got was some hand-holding deal while the white light from the RTTP engulfed them... it was kinda romantic, but there was no kiss or anything). I wanted them to end up together so badly, I SCREAMED at my computer when I found out they didn't.
Then, on the other hand, I'm a writer. I love writing about all the different possibilities when they leave it open-ended. Hence Yumi and Ulrich's 75 fanfics. I'd written Aang and Katara first kisses a dozen times, but, now, none of them are even plausible. It's not the same writing their fourth or fifth kiss. Weddings are always a possibility, but those get a little old after you read a dozen of them. Other than slight details, they're really all the same.
And then on the awkward third hand growing out of my stomach (lol), I'm a novelist and a hopeless romantic, together. In my books, there's often an established couple (or two) by the end of the series. Sure, the fanfictionists can't come up with a first kiss, but they could come up with something else entirely. Sometimes, there's sweet moments that can be thought up by fanfiction writers that the author never would have dreamed of. And, sometimes, they're so good that they can slip unnoticed between chapters like they belong there.
So, what I'm thinking I'm getting at is that, either way, we won't like the ending. It's a grass on the other side of the fence thing.
And, yes, Kim and Ron together was too cute. I think it also depends on the pairing. With so many Zutarian shippers, I'm actually surprised they made Kataang canon. With Kim and Ron, almost everyone wanted them together, anyway, so they weren't ticking off some huge group of violent fangirls.

Wow, no YumiUlrich? That sucks!
Yeah, Bryke made a very hard choice with their fandom. They should've known that making any ship canon was going to anger a large percentage of their fandom. Maybe that's why Kim and Ron worked - most wanted her with him, or it might be the realistic nature of their relationship. They went through trials and tribulations that next season. It wasn't just "happily ever after". It was complicated. I'm sure Kataang could have that too, given the chance, but we don't know. The fanfiction writers can play on that, but let's face it - it's not as fun as writing that very first kiss or when they finally realize how much they care for each other. XD
But it's not really our call. Bryke wanted that ending from the beginning. (That was a confusing sentence.) They got their ending, their show, and their success. I can only have respect for them for that. They didn't let the fandom destroy their views on their show. And as die-hard a Zutarian as I am, I can definitely respect their choice to go the ways they did with the show. I'm just a sucker for open-endings, I guess. Then again, if I actually got one, I'd probably be infuriated! Lol! It's a double-edged sword.

Yeah, it was awful. She kissed him on the cheek and forehead during the season, but no big kiss in the end, though she did completely turn down William.
Yeah, as a writer I can totally get where Bryke is coming from. They planned the whole show with the idea that Katara and Aang were going to get together, just like I planned TKC knowing that there was going to be Gracob and Denton/Hana. (They don't have a cool ship name yet... it's hard with their names.. and I totally just made up the Gracob thing right there) It wouldn't feel to me as though I had completed my story until they got together. Maybe that's how they felt. That the final Kataang kiss (which Katara initiated - all the others were Aang) formally and finally ended the story that begged to be told.
