I just remembered that my parents complimented the meal I made them for lunch! I created some pasta thing. It had short pasta pieces+mayo+Mustard+tomato+Ham+Cheese+garlic powder. Now as disgusting as that sounds, it's really good...And now I'm hungry. That seems like a good lunch idea, Horyo. Now, if I had some pasta, and good mayo, with cheese and some more garlic powder, I could try and make some for my mom and brother. (They like macaroni salad, I don't. The only kind of salad I like is the classic veggie one. D:) But I could try that if I make some. ^^

*hijacks teh thread* I made spaghetti for the first time today. Aside from the noodles being a little bit chewy, it actually turned out okay. I even chopped up a fresh tomato and stirred it in. ... Yeah, I know. Big whoop, Solva. xD

*lowers spaghetti pot* Nice save there, you almost got yourself whacked. Besides, gimme a break. Of course it wasn't gonna turn out perfect the first time.

Boiling is annoying.
You keep having to mix and stir and then find out if it's soft enough.

You should try making bolognese sauce sometime. It can be time consuming but relatively idiot proof and so rewarding.

talk about time consuming, try making pho. My mom lets the bones stew for hours in order to make the broth taste good (so worth it though)

^^ Why not just boil the water in a water kettle first before putting it in the pasta pot? That way you have boiling water right from the start.
@2x. Yeah, fresh stocks and broths take ages but nothing taste quite as good after youve had it. I made a brown stock from scratch one day and from that, a demi glace and it almost killed me. That was just sauce for a braised meat dish! The recipe has since joined bouillabaisse on my exclusive "If I dont get any, you dont get any" menu.

^ Because you have to wait for the water in the kettle to boil, which would take just as long as boiling it from the pot. Also, you'd have to have the pot already heated up, or else the water would cool down within a matter of minutes (and it's probably not a good idea to have an empty pot over a hot eye anyways).

^^Um... a water kettle is designed to boil water more effeciently so it should be faster than a regular pot on the stove. Do you use and electric water kettle? Should be even faster or you seriously need a new water kettle. How do you make coffee first thing in the morning? You dont have to have the pasta pot preheated for the boiling water. Since your pouring boiling hot water into the pot, it should only take seconds for it to return to the boil once you turn the stove on. Give it a try.

^ Um, no. I use a coffee pot. Besides, that's a lot of trouble to go through when you can simply wait for the water in the pot to boil, even though it takes a little longer.

My mom lets the bones stew for hours in order to make the broth taste good (so worth it though) I like Pho better than most soups/noodles and I tend to dislike non-dry noodles. Hmm I also enjoy Bun Bo Hue/Que (Never was sure of the spelling on that) but mostly I dislike Bun, it's a cop off of Pho.
