Define love.
Because to me Ozai does 'love' Zuko but only in as much as he is useful to him. It's kind of like the 'love' one has for a pet or a zoo animal.
Harsh, I know, but in my view Ozai's 'love' was only extended to Zuko after he had shown himself to be 'worthy' of it. Typically parental love is unconditional.
This isn't really the case for Ozai and Zuko.

To me "being useful" and "love" are two separate things. It's very hard to explain. A parent's love should always be unconditional, no matter what. A child NEVER has to prove oneself, earn, or beg for it, it's just there. Ozai wants Zuko to earn his love, he could've cared less about him until he thought Zuko did something right, to Ozai Zuko earned his love by "killing" the enemy. To me that's not love, I don't know what it is except wrong.

I don't think I've seen enough of Ozai first hand to say much about his emotional make up. We've seen him through flashbacks courtesy of Iroh & Zuko, but flashbacks can be tainted by the viewpoint of the person giving them, and we've only seen Ozai himself a few times.
People do terrible things in the name of love. Think of the women who had their feet bound in ancient china, or female circumcision, which is a travesty that occurs even now. These things occur because people think it's the right thing to do, wether it be to further their child in society, or to ensure their ability to procure a suitable mate. Sure, some of the people who commited these acts were monsters, but not all of them were.
While I instincively feel that Ozai merely uses Zuko, I don't think the show has provided us with enough evidence to back this up. (Bearing in mind that flashbacks are, at best, second hand evidence.) At this point, it could probably be successfully argued either way.

It's hard to tell Ozai's feelings for Zuko, seeing as see them interact for about a minute in Season 3.
lol dropped ball.

I don't think Ozai's feelings towards Zuko really matter that much... He was gonna kill mini Zuko and tried again to kill him DOBS I think that says enough about Ozai's feelings towards Zuko.... Ozai clearly has no love for him, clearly Ozai uses him but he doesn't love him.... I don't even think Ozai loves Azula he uses her ... Damm we need to see some Ozai Azula interaction....

I think this question is kinda like
Do pineapples taste like apples?
Of course not, Ozai is the bad guys who is extremely obssesed with power and ruling the world. Zuko as his son should've took the role of firelord with hounor but instead he disobeyed Ozai.
I'm pretty sure he never loved Zuko

Ozai does not love. He simply pours affection into something that gains him the things he wants and plans for.

I think Ozai is capable of loving, but Zuko just doesn't qualify for his love. I mean Zuko is not powerful enough for Ozai to love him, and he is not evil at all. But I think Ozai loves Azula since she has the necessary properties. It doesn't sound nice, but I think that's the most you can expect from Ozai's understanding of love.

^^I'm not sure Ozai even loves Azula. She's just a trophy child to him, she makes him look good. I'm sure he's PROUD of the way she turned out, just like him, and she's proven very useful as well. But love? Nope, I'm not gonna believe it until we see that. I don't believe that he is capable of any love; except the love of power.

I think in a twisted way, yes, Ozai loves his son. All parents have embedded in them the ability to love their child unconditionally. I don't think that he'll ever be the model parent, not by a long shot; I do think, however, that his apparent inability to show his son love comes from his own childhood. From what we saw of Ozai's father, (and the ease with which Ozai and Ursa killed him) Azulan probably treated Ozai the same way. I mean, Ozai has to exalt him and everything; he refers to his own father as "Firelord" and is expected to bow!
Anyway, I speak from experience. My mother didn't exactly burn the side of my face and banish me, but she probably would have if she could. I know that in an odd way she loves me, but she doesn't know how to show it. That's probably how Zuko feels; I mean, he traveled the world looking for someone thought dead for years just for his father's acceptance!

their is a diference between love and like i think that deep down he dose love his son. i mean he did not just burn him on a whim he did it after pleading with him to fight. and he shot lightning at him only after telling him to get out, and zuko did not. but i dont belive he likes zuko i think he only love him because of the biological bond
