What do you think happened to all of the Skybison and Lemurs in the world? Did the Fire Nation kill them off as well, or did they flee? What about Momo, where'd he come from? Is he as old as the war and is the only Lemur left? Discuss.

Yeah, because I don't think Lemurs can live for 100 years, so there must have been other Lemurs.
And with the Skybison, I would have imagined that some flew off once the attack started.

Id just like to know the Jins that Momo mastered. King Bumi always had a very high opinion of Momo from the first time they met.

Yeah, but unfortunately it was only mentioned that once. And who wouldn't have a very high opinion of Momo? He's definitely one of my favorite Animals from Avatar.

You would think so, but considering the creators said all the airbenders are dead, I'd imagine so are the Skybison. It goes against logic, sure, but meh. :/

Of course some flew off, maybe the Fire Nation chased them down, or something? Oh well, I guess it's too late for us to wonder now.

^^ Yeah, its all conjecture. It could have been that most of them are as loyal to their masters as Roku's dragon and would rather die than abandon them.

Well the lemurs are quite smart, but they're also cowards. So I think the theory that they survived in the mountains/ruins is alright. The skybison were probably completely domesticated and got killed. On the other hand, they might have survived in the mountains, too. The Comet doesn't last that long, some of them might still be hiding somewhere. Remember how scared of fire Appa was after he got lost? That's actually something that might have saved some of them. May the next Avatar will have to learn airbending from a skybison again, because there are no Airnomads (yet). That would be funny But that also means that some people might learn how to airbend from the skybisons (or lemurs) again.

Well Appa wasn't exactly scared of fire until that horrible circus guy started whipping him with fire. And then Appa was scared of fire.

Bison are pretty hard to miss, so I'd imagine they're all gone now. Lemurs are small and easier to hide, so I imagine they're rare, but still around. Momo had to come from somewhere, afterall.

Keep in mind how loyal the sky bison are. They probably stayed with the Air Nomads to try and protect them and were thus killed off as well.

^^As I was reading this, I was thinking that. Look at the dragons in the Fire Nation. Fang died with Roku, he was very loyal, and I'd assume that Sozin's dragon was the same, even if the jerk did start killing off dragons for sport. It's very logical to think that the sky bison stayed very loyally with their masters and died at their side. Anyway you look at it, it's very sad.
I can't imagine there not being any lemurs out there. Like someone said above, I don't believe that they can live for 100+ years, so there has to be more. But this is the Avatar universe so who in the heck knows! Maybe M&B could shed some light.........never mind, they'd probably just give us an answer that would make us debate even more!

...........here is a crazy thought i just had... maybe just maybe! momo was with aang in the ice burg. i mean momo is very curious lemer, and as a curious little lemer would he not want to see where some one is off to in the middle of the night and decides to hop on to aangs bison and get trapped in ice too? they just did not see him till they where back at the air temple, where he wakes up looks around and says am home see ya! than realizes no one is home so he goes back to appa and he runs in to aang and every one. sound good?

Bryke said that all of the Airbenders are dead, and sky bison are Airbenders, so I think it's safe to assume that they're dead too. As for the lemurs, well one of the swamp guys said that they saw one in a traveling show, so there must still be some around.

I can't imagine the lemurs started with the Airbenders like the Sky Bison did. I think they were kinda pulled in for the ride - like the Air Nation really liked the flying creatures and took them as pets and such.
