Wow, I just read the third section of CH 1 and what caught my eye was the part where Toph asks Katara about Zuko's face. When Katara thought about the memory of when she was stuck with Zuko in the Crystal Catacombs, that was really well done I must say! The stuff from that scene between Katara and Zuko in "The Crossroads of Destiny" was well incorporated into the story. Adds a nice touch to the story.
The part where Katara gained control of her body when the Waterbending Master enemy took control of it was pretty awesome. It's cool how bloodbending was incorporated into the story. And when Katara joined Zuko to fight against this unknown enemy, it made me think. I'd like to see some fanart with Katara and Zuko back to back with Katara and Zuko having serious Bad*** looks on their faces. And Katara shooting water while Zuko shoots fire. I'd really like to see that. Anyways, the action in this story is really awesome and the way it's described too. I'm pretty much seeing this in my mind as if I've seen it on TV.
Ooo wow! I got to the part where the enemy (or what they thought was an enemy) speaks. This story is getting even more interesting! *reads further to find out who it is although I have an idea who it is* Wow awesome! I knew it was him and cool, the author even kept true to the story about what he looks like now. Man, I wish this could happen in the show!
Wow, the last part of the CH 1...those people are cool! Great introduction...
Yup, I'm officially addicted to this story!

Wow! This place is a regular party! *hugs all new Zutarians and semi-Zuts* I'm on vacation right now and I don't have access all the time, but it's amazing to come back after only a day and see pages go past! It's almost an old question by now, but as far as why I ship Zutara I'd say it's because I like romance that has an element of redemption and drama to it. I see a great back and forth with Katara and Zuko and two strong, passionate personalities with similar drive. They both have a strong sense of honor and justice, and although Zuko spent a lot of time trying to win his father's love, he never lost his soul. And Katara is a great foil as well as co-warrior for someone like him. She's someone who doesn't do things halfway just like Zuko. It'll be amazing to see them fight side-by-side together. I also love the Zutarians I've met. Hopeless romantics like me.  I tend to multi-ship Aang with Toph and On Ji. I don't really ship Tokka (sorry! I just don't!) and I only recently started like the Sukka pairing. I've often thought Sokka would go well with Jin because she seems to have a great sense of humor and a supportive personality. And she's not a warrior. I think Sokka would do well with someone who needs a little protection rather than someone who could kick his a$$. But that's just IMO. The only other person I've shipped Zuko with at all is Ty Lee and that was only after she said 'I know you' in The Beach. I can't really explain it but that moment tweaked my romantic instincts and got me thinking.  Hmmm. What others? None. That's about it. Stormbenders is a huge favorite of people who need more Avatar than Nick gives us. But there's a wide variety of fics/authors on BPT's front page -- post-war, capture, alternate story line -- so check them all out. I'll bet you'll find something to spark your interest.  Great art finds BTW! I love the mad close-up on the kiss!  |

You've only read one chapter and you're addicted. Wait till you get to the later chapters when it gets really suspenseful.

I'm enjoying this partaay, oh yeah! You guys are awesome! I'm making Zutara Crystal Catacombs my second home so now I live in Kataang Sky Castle and Zutara Crystal Catacombs! I sure learned a lot of interesting Zutara info today. Yup, for sure. About the whole co-warrior thing between Zuko and Katara, I think that's pretty cool and surely the Stormbenders taught me to like it! And what you said about them having strong and passionate personalities made me think...Stormbenders portrays that really well and so I can see how that can make the Zutarian ship attractive. I guess Katara and Zuko can and do have some similarities that I didn't see before. Zuko and Katara are both strong (in the show and in the Stormbenders) and can really handle any weight placed on their shoulders. And yes, both of them are passionate in that they are moved by very strong emotions. They have had to deal with some tragedies in their lives (loss of their mothers or having lost something like Zuko losing his honor) and it has caused them to act upon their loss. It gave Katara strong hope that the Avatar is alive and can save the world. It gave Zuko the drive to search for the Avatar just so he can regain his honor which then ended up causing him to face many struggles, to decide for himself what is right and what is wrong, and to survive those struggles. They are very passionate characters indeed. Wow, if I have never stepped into this thread today, I wouldn't have seen how Zuko and Katara aren't just opposites, they do have their similarities. I always thought that they were opposites back then and that a relationship between them wouldn't work (Probably a result of my biased mind but now I know I should always keep an open mind). Now I see a relationship between them could work. Stormbenders is a huge favorite of people who need more Avatar than Nick gives us. ^ You describe zutara as well as any zutaraian here.
I also use to be a hardcore Maiko/ Kataang shipper and thought zutara would never work out at all under any circumstance.
But after being in here a while and reading stormbenders I think thay can work but I still prefer Maiko.

^Wow really? What a coincidence! Back then, I almost gave up in thinking that Zutara could work for me. I tried thinking what's so beautiful about it back then but I could never see it. Now I can and that makes me believe even more that anything is possible. Here I am, I'm quite intrigued about Zutara now. Stormbenders is really an influential story. It got me! For sure! YAY! Yeah, that's very true. It's always good to keep an open mind (wait a minute...did someone say that in any of the episodes? I dunno why, the whole thing about keeping an open mind seems very Iroh to me). Anyways, keeping an open mind allows us to learn new things and increase our knowledge rather then allowing it to remain stagnant. My thoughts on Zutara surely aren't stagnant no longer! I can really see it's beauty now. That surely is a joyous feeling to be able to see what I haven't saw before! ^_^

Even though I'm not a zutaraian what makes zutara beautiful to me is the fact in order for them to get together.
Katara needs to forgive Zuko for almost killing Aang. And since Katara seemed to hate him in WAT I think it's there biggest obstacle.
But judging form the zutara hug in the trailer I think she'll forgive him.

Why do I like Zutara? I shall answer. Because honestly, you had me at hello romances don't really shiver me timbers anymore. Some rare times they are done so well that I can't help but like them (Elizabeth and Will Turner) and other times they get locked in my Davy (should I say Deana?) Jones locker of Superficial Nightmares (Lana Lang and Clark Kent). I want to like both characters in my romance of choice. Sometimes, that doesn't happen. I get a small pleasure out of liking a romance when one-half of the romance is a character that I despise with the fire of a thousand suns. That means the writers have done a very good job in the romance genre, if they reel me into a romance that stars a character I hate (Scarlett and Rhett GWTW). I hate Scarlett.  In Zutara's case, I like both characters. I love the redemption storyline of Zuko. He is now the guy I caught a glimpse of in The Blue Spirit (Which is the episode that I started shipping Zutara). He has grown into a guy that Katara could love. He is now the guy she thought Jet was. I know that Katara could grow into a woman he could love (really she is already). She has enough passion to last him a lifetime. She would make a dang good Fire Lady one day. The End . . . Something I made weeks ago:  |

As for Mai and Aang ending up alone if Zutara happens: No way. Their love stories don't end just because they don't end up with the person that they thought they would in the beginning. (hypothetically speaking)
It is like the bend in the road that is always there that you cannot avoid.
I actually think Mai would make in interesting pair with my guy Sokka. That would be hilarious. Her complaining getting on his nerves. His stupid jokes and sometimes sexiest views getting on her nerves. Sparks fly along with a boomerang and some daggers. I thus christen them:
Maikka: Crouching Dagger, Hidden Boomerang.
Taang reminds me of the young version of my most favorite ship. Which is Clois (Lois and Clark). So it is increasingly becoming my favorite Aang ship. She would shape him into the Avatar I know he could be it she had been given that chance.
Just two pathways that Aang and Mai could take if Zutara happened. There are many other paths for them to choose.

No matter how hard I try I can't see Mai with anyone but Zuko.
Sokka would be a good option but I like Sukka and Tokka too much.
But I'm fine with Taang or Aang and Azula( The best crack ship ever.)
Or Mai could just die miserable and alone DX I can't believe I jusy typed that.

Maikka sure gets name points, I daresay. And I love all the Sokka pairings. I dunno why. But perhaps I shouldn't continue on that topic, afterall this is a Zutara thread. I have to admit, it Zutara happened, M&B would have to have settled the other pairings too; but I'm sure they would. A little surprise would be nice. |

I like Sukka a lot, but since I don't know that much about Suki, I can still picture Sokka with other people. I like Tokka but I have other ships I like with the stars of this ship more.
Zutara is my OTP but I do like redeemed Jet/Katara and Haru/Katara a lot. I am pretty sure I will like Zuko/Song and Zuko/Jin when I actually see those episodes.
Edit: I shall stop being OT now.
