I'd probably do the same thing. Sad part is, people see only in a pallet of black and white; good versus evil. Tere is always a grey area in between, but those who haven't the sense to see it choose to ignore it, like the townspeople after finding out Zuko was FN.

I can't blame them town's people for there attitude and action toward zuko. I mean the town had face alot problems because of the fire nation. Maybe would have help if Zuko explain himself further but even during season two, Zuko will still in conflict mode between good and evil.

That's true. He continued to struggle with it in book III, but it helps to know how Zuko turned out, when speaking on this subject. Good point, Fuego.

I feel sorry for Zuko. He had to go through such a hard past. Then he saved Lee and got yelled at. Poor Zuko.

this episode really captured zuko's essence as a person.. eventhough im not much for him..he's a pretty complicated character and this episode showed us just that. and it's the only episode where the gaang doesn't appear so....it's pretty refreshing.

theres just one thing I didn't understand abou this episode, at the end, after Zuko reveals his identity, a random villager says, "I heard about you, your not a prince your an outcast! your own father burned and disowned you!"
my point is... how does an uneducated EARTH KINGDOM peasant become acquainted with the history of fire nation royalty. seriously, wth
But still, this is probably my second favorite episode in the series. 1 being Into the Into The Inferno episode of the series finale (I consider the finale separate episodes.)

Yeah, it's especially curious because back in season one, not even Zuko's ship crew knew how he had gotten his scar. I'd like to say that maybe these Earth Kingdom villagers heard about it because of those wanted posters that Azula had been spreading around, but they weren't that detailed. Maybe returning village soldiers had heard rumors about it while out on the lines, and brought the news home? *shrugs*
(Also, next time, you should edit your post instead of making a double post. ^^)

The Fire Nation is big on propaganda and letting out the information they want the public to know, so perhaps the royal family keeps a lot of their business to themselves. But of course rumors would go around, and maybe like you said the Earth Kingdom soldiers picked up on these rumors and spread them around. Fire Nation soldiers would probably be more loyal and less likely to believe the rumors.

During Zuko Alone, Zuko was already branded a traitor by the Fire Nation. Surely they would have leaked information about him that might lead to his arrest/capture. He wasn't a traitor back in Season 1, thus there would be little reason for the FN to spread propaganda about him. Zuko was probably a mere nuisance to the FN at that point - no reason to spend money on propaganda to educate the world about him yet.
