Iroh!
He's experienced WAY more, plus he thinks out about his experiences logically and always turns it into a learning experience. And with that learning experience he helps guide other people (;

Iroh. he posses all kinds of intellegence. including wisdom, the most important kind. azula and sokka have some brains, but they are more short term. Iroh is the kind of guy who you could ask "what is the meaning of life?" and he would just laugh and say "silly mortal, you are not ready for such knowledge." ... ok, that wording would be way out of character for him... but you get my point. Iroh; Grandmaster of the Order of the White Lotus, accomplished leading high ranking general in the Fire Nation army, studies bending forms other then those from his own nation, achieved lightning bending, well knowledged in plant life, and has knowledge of the Spirit World. Definitely Iroh

If we are separating wisdom from intelligence, Id say Toph. Given her age and circmstances, I find that she has given the most clear headed and intelligent decisions in Team Avatar and has shown better on the spot judgement than most of the other characters.

If you are only talking about people in Team Avatar and if you are seperating wisdom from intelligence I would say Sokka, tactical genius, inventuve mind, definitely Sokka

Iroh. He's crafty, cunning, and a marvelous actor. Sokka is inventive for a 15 year old but he is also amazingly dim witted and thick headed.

I only said Sokka because asianmalaysian was only talking about people in Team Avatar and seperated wisdom from intelligence, Sokka's dim wittedness and thick headedness is due to his extreme lack of wisdom

Inspite of their ages, both Iroh and Sokka have been known to ingest questionable stuff with disastourous outcomes. Basic intelligence isnt the be all and end all and I dont propose to detract from Sokka's tactical genius or Iroh's wisdom but if its only basic intelligence we are measuring, I think Toph tops both of them. Sokka:Heh! "Toph tops!" Thats a good--

Thats a good-- Just because Sokka enjoy cactus juice because it'll quench ya (really because he was dying of thirst), and Iroh loves tea to the point of nearly killing himself, doesn't make them idiots, in Sokka's case the reason why he did it for so many different things was because he lacked the wisdom to not do it, in Iroh's case he just likes tea, and that was possibly a rare and delicious tea if I remember correctly

^ I can see us splitting hairs here about the difference between wisdom and intelligence. Before we start throwing dictionaries at each other, I just want point out that they were all dying of thirst and right after Sokka recovered from the cactus juice, he started licking some unknown gunk off a cave wall. In Iroh's case, given that he was clearly aware that the flower would produce "Delectable tea Or deadly poison", Im thinking the possible downside should have out weighed the possible benefit. Both of them were the eldest in their respective groups and arguably should have known better.

I use DnD's definition's for the difference, so my dictionary is a player's handbook... *throws it at you* Again, it could have made very good tea, and Iroh has been called "his tea-loving kookiness" he really likes tea

Definitely Iroh You dont have nearly enough karma. PS: /sigh I just knew someone would bring up the tea thing, suprised it took so long though. Iroh was originally intended to be a comic relief character. However, Mako have him so much wisdom and definition, M&B had them start to rewrite Iroh into the kind of guy we saw in "Bitter Work" and "Tales of Iroh" However the origionally planned Iroh still came through sometimes. That scene for how Zuko/Iroh came under the care of EK pesants was planned pretty early on. However, even if we ignore this, I can show make it seem that Iroh making tea out of that was really a good idea. A big part of Iroh's philosophy is that your quality of life is much more important than its duration. He would agree with Socrates in that "The unexamined life is not worth living" He would also add the pleasures and joys of life into that philosophy. In other words, consume all the best that life has to offer, so that you might reach the best of yourself. Be the best of yourself, and the univirse (or spirit world) will reward you in the end. And really, if Iroh could have done it all again, I belive he would have done the exact same thing. It was that plant that led Zuko to "those kind people" and was his first step in questioning his heritage. If you dont buy that, just call it a mulligan.
