Yeah, I think he does deserve a happy ending(he's had such an unhappy start to his life). He did some bad things for sure. But he's not a bad person and never was. We all know his background and what was driving him to search for Aang.
He worked very hard to redeem himself and will have to work very hard in the future to redeem the fire nation. He's got a tough road ahead and needs all the love and support he can get. Having Ursa back in his life would contribute to that and his peace of mind.

that was kinda an insault to me, althought it was cute seeing Toph hold Zuko's arm, but I felt Toph telling Zuko about her parents and then have Zuko kinda shall I say, brush her off, kinda angered me. Honestly? Yes, that was also my first reaction, but I decided it wasn't worth getting angry about. I guess Mike and Bryan thought it would be funny, but it came off as rude and insensitive. I'm not going to get angry about it since I doubt they meant it that way, but I was irritated that that Zuko bled his heart out to Toph and was comforted by her and then he brushes her off when she tries to do the same. Sometimes I don't get the writer's sense of humor. I don't get the anger at Zuko for that. He listened patiently but it was obvious that finding Aang was on his mind. They did have a huge upcoming battle. I think preparing for that and looking for Aang was a little more important than Toph complaining about her parents. He explained his reasoning to her and it made sense.

I thought he was a bit rude to her too. I wasn't too upset though. I still get butterflies near the end of the finale whenever I watch it. It's so exciting.

^^ Im actually ok with that. I think she could rest in peace knowing the kind of man that hed become. I think he just wants to know for sure. Katara and Sokka have that certainty.

The fact that she begged for his help in that dream would have to be weighing heavy on his mind...

^^ I dont think that part of the dream can be taken anymore literally than Azula's hallucination of Ursa. They were both at crossroads of sorts when they saw their mother who seems to represent part of their inner conscience.

If we do ever find out what happened, I doubt that she'd be dead. Since this show is aimed at 8ish year olds, I just don't think they'd make a whole storyline for Zuko to be so disappointed. I still can't believe we were left with that cliffhanger. And it was weird because there was the cliffhanger, followed by a perfectly normal conclusion. Had Zuko found her between asking Ozai and the final scene? I really think and hope that we find out what happened to her. Even if it's just a single episode. I'd be disappointed with a book version of it though.

Maybe Zuko's just determined never to become completely obsessive over something again, like he was obsessive about finding Aang. Maybe he doesn't want the search for his mother to rule his life and make him forget all the wonderful things that he finally has...friends, girlfriend, he's Fire Lord, good relationship with Iroh etc. He can have people investigating, he can question Iroh, he can put out feelers, let it be known that she's welcome home and still live a happy, normal life. And he's got important duties that he can't just drop to go on a quest to find his mom.
I always wondered why she doesn't just come home herself, if she's alive. Surely, everyone has heard about Ozai's defeat, the end of the war, Zuko's coronation etc.

Sozin's Comet is on (as a movie) in about an hour...still debating on whether or not to watch it...there are bits I love...bits I hate...and bits that make me go 'meh'...not an overall Woo Hoo! experience...
Of course if this heavy rain doesn't let up it's a moot point...heavy rain always breaks up my satellite cable...I can't watch a darn thing.

Perhaps they will have a mini episode called "the adventures of Zuko" you know trying to find his mother everyday a new quest to find his mom.

I think the fact that they put a big 'The End' just before the closing credits of Avatar Aang is meant to tell us that the have no plans to make anything more...they're just going to leave it up to the fans as to what happens next...even though we'll never agree on it.

I agree. We're not going to get anything that (be they comics or shows) happens after the last episode.

I loved Sozin's Comet. But too much cliffhangers at the end.. What about Ursa, the Water Tribe (Did the two tribes join?) and all. I think since the authors are kind, maybe they will make a few comics on the cliffhangers?
I don't think there will be a 4th book.. But hopefully, the authors will be kind enough to make one.
