Well, I'll still be a Zutarian that's for sure. I'm more interested on how this fandom will hold up.. It was fun while it lasted, and although there may still be debates I don't think I'll be in any more for the time being.
I'll be sure to check back here (DH) once in a while.

It almost happened. *shrug* I don't think Mike and Bryan could bring themselves to kill Suki too. That would've been plain mean. XD There's still a chance I think. There's not telling how Sukka will go.

^I think those two will get married, out of all the couples that ended up canon in Avatar, they were the one that was I guess you could call it, "serious" or "steady" for the longest. Technically you could say Kataang, but they weren't officially a couple until the very last episode. And Maiko not until S3.

I guess you can draw back to the world of fanfiction....but it's not as satisfying as the real thing. Sure it is...when the real thing isn't satisfying.

That's exactly what I've been saying, Zerg. *nods* It's fun to kind of go your own route with stories. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Technically you could say Kataang, but they weren't officially a couple until the very last episode. And Maiko not until S3. This is true. Sukka has been together the longest but... they’ve also had the least amount of time to really know each other. Zuko and Mai grew up together and Aang and Katara spent pretty much every minute of the past year together. I think all the canon ships will last but I think Sukka has a smaller chance than Kataang/Maiko. Sure it is...when the real thing isn't satisfying. I agree. When I read fanfiction, it’s for something in the show that I didn’t find satisfying or something that wasn’t in the show but I still find satisfying. For example, I read quite a bit of Tokka fic because it was pretty subtle in the show and wasn’t end game anyway. Though I can agree with Horyo too. Fanfiction can present a plausible ending, but it will never be the ORIGINAL ending, you know?

*shrug* The good thing about shipping crack!pairings is that you aren't sad/angry when they don't happen...I never expected that Azula and Katara would somehow end up being involved, so the end of Avatar doesn't change anything for me. Fandom has always been more interesting than canon anyway, in my opinion.

Then why do you have a Taang avi above your rude comment to Zutarians? .....uhhh..i thought it was a kataang avi cuz it came up when i was looking in photobucket... what makes u say it taang? I know you don't have it anymore, but I remember seeing you had that Taang avi, I actually made that one. I figured you got it from my graphics thread and I noticed you were a kataanger, but I didn't bother asking. I'm not sure why it would have come up when you searched Kataang, maybe since "taang" is in the last part of it...?
Anyway, back on topic. I used to really enjoy debates, and discussing the ships among other relationships with people. However, I always hit a stalemate with them. Shippers are very opinionated, and, let's face it, I don't think any of us are going to change our minds. Canon-ness doesn't change anyone's mind. It doesn't motivate anyone to change, nor does it give that much of a boost for the people who shipped the canon ones. At least it doesn't feel that way to me...there was no noticeable difference between before and after the finale as far as shipping goes. The only thing was extreme shippers reacted in an extreme way, though it wasn't as bad as I expected.
I think the reason is there wasn't a big surprise as far as how the ships ended. Obviously I love Zutara, and I wanted it to happen, but by the time we got the the finale, if it did happen, it would be way too rushed, and the emphasis on Kataang had been too much to be a red herring. And the fact that it's a kid's show, and most things are done in a more obvious way. I think everyone knew that Kataang would happen. I know there were canon!zutarians who still thought Zutara would happen, but I would guess they were either in denial or overly confident.
Zutara is going to live on in fanon, and I think with the amount of open ends left by the finale, it leaves a ton of room for fanfictions to be written about the show in general, not necessarily romantic ones, but they could tie in a ship that didn't happen in the show.
I don't know what to say about people who think non-canon couples will still happen in canon, since the series ended...Anything, even future versions of canon couples, is considered fanon, since it's created by fans and not in the show. It's black and white when it comes to canon and fanon now that the show ended.
And...now I've gone longer than I expected (again). Sorry guys, but that's my opinion on that.

Zutara will never die. Kataang was complete idiocy by the Creators. The whole good guy gets the good girl. the avatars war may be over, but the shipping wars have just begun! Hey, that's completely disrespectful. ------------- I wished Tokka could have happened, but that might have been awkward.

Really? I think that out of all the canon ships, Sukka has the best chance of lasting (not saying that Kataang/Maiko aren't going to last, you know). Truthfully, it's been a while since I've watched Avatar, but there's just something about their relationship that seems to "click", per say. Also, I don't think that knowing someone for x amount of time always guaruntees whether or not a couple will last (but it doesn't hurt to get to know someone before the relationship takes off, either). That being said, I do love older!Tokka. LightBender: Come on now, that's not cool =( While we Zutarians are never going to die (we're practically zombies xD), you don't have to insult Kataang in the process.

I agree with SkyE and Solva. Sukka has good potential. i mean think about what will happen in Kataang. you don't think there won't be any more problems in the world and aang can settle down and let things stay the way they are. The Fire Nation isd gonna be in a huge debt as well, which may lead Zuko to be the least popular fire lord ever and make people wish they could go back to the good old days. while Sokka and Suki can just do what they like together since they are both warriors. think about it.

Honestly, now that its over it makes I think even more fun for my ship. I've got a million art ideas and fic ideas for Kataang. Canon doesn't stifle and I want to see Aang and Katara's journey continue. If war and near death didn't stop them from forming a romance, then I doubt anything will break them apart. And as they grow and Aang gets more into being the Avatar it will just pose new issues and things for them to overcome.
I don't really like any of the other ships as much as I do Kataang. Maiko is okay. So is Sukka.
And I can't really get fired up over the fanon ships in part because I rarely find much in the fanon ships that holds true to the characterizations and relationships I love in Avatar, so I'll be just continuing to enjoy Kataang.
