Though I was not too fond of Azula going all rocket man before the comet, I had no problem seeing the other firebenders use it during the comet passover. It does help to explain one thing; how the Fire Nation was able to reach the Air Nomads Mountain Temples. Thats True...didn't think of that. How scary for the Air Nomads. Flying firebenders...

I always thought that was the one advantage for the airbenders were that they could fly, but after seeing sozens comet and tbr... I think they just lost their advantage. Think about this... toph was the best earthbender and she lost to aang because he could basically fly... she cant see in the air... only whatever movements are made on the ground...

It's also possible that the writers thought of flying firebenders sometime in the middle of writing the show and they decided to incorporate it somewhere in the show. Also note that even though flying firebenders seems lame- how lame would the final fight have been if the only option of movement Ozai had was walking/running?

Also Horyo, I'm sorry if I sounded arrogant or boastful. In reality, I just wanted to give a reason to re-open the discussion.

It's no problem (I won't edit your post because your point was nice, but remember no double posting XD )
Anyways, I think I was just a bit sore about being wrong.
But now that I see, I completely agree with the extent of firebending.
