Of course. Because good, nice fathers send their daughters out to capture her brother and uncle, with full permission to do anything else (like, I dunno, seize the Earth Kingdom's capital and kill the Avatar). It's not like he sent Azula against her will. Did you see the look on her face at the end of "Siege of the North" when Ozai tasks her with rounding up Zuko and Iroh? She was probably delighted at the opportunity to cause her brother more pain. let us not forget the scene in the storm, I mean, coem on, she's not even in a mission or what have you, but she still seems dang happy to see Zuko get disfigured.

Considering what we just learnt about her, she was insanely jealous of the fact that their mother loved him more than her, and that her mother thought she was a monster. Maybe she thought it was payback for all the times that she couldn't have their mother's attention because of him. Either way, they seem to be much closer now.

Wow, that's really interesting, being a second-born as well. I'm reading the first-born personality page right now, but from what I read, the writers did a marvelous job fitting and incorporating those traits into Azula's character. From reading all of this, I really want to see more interaction between Zuko and Azula when they were even younger. Evil-baby!Azula getting jealous and destroying Zuko's blissful masterpiece with the Electric Blue crayon would be priceless XD Edit: Weird. My personality fits the "First-Born" one

Ozai has a better chance of a Darth Vader redemption at least then Azula... No, please, no more Ozai/ Star Wars comparisons!

Oh wow, you're getting loads of karma from me! That was an amazing find! The writers definitely did their research when they were writing Azula, it fits her perfectly! I'm so happy now, I'm gonna send this link to a couple of people I know who consider Azula to be sociopathic. It's funny, I usually don't believe in these things, but reading the "third born" personality, it fits me and my friend almost to a T. -Karmas The Blue Chibi repeatedly-

Wow, that's eerie...
I used to have the text, "It was 'good enough' is never good enough," underneath my icon. It's not necessarily something that I live by, but it's something I believe. However, I'm the first born of two.
Also, around 75% of the stuff in the first born article absolutely clashes with my personality. I must be some sort of freak of nature. =(

Thanks! ^.^ Yeah, I find it fascinating.
If I recall correctly, the terms "first-born," "second-born," etc. refer to a collection of usually correlated personality traits that tend to occur in a certain cycle, since they react to each other in series. Generally, one set of traits occur in the first born, and the others follow in order after, but if there is another strong influence, the birth order will follow off of that.
For example, if one parent is expressing a very strong set of second-born traits, their first child might behave more like the next personality cluster in the series, in reaction to their parent, causing them to express more third-born characteristics instead. Birth order, then, would just be a shorthand term for the way these traits tend to get expressed in many modern American households. In other cultures, the series tends to start at a different spot, but still cycles through the same traits in order. (Confused yet? I think I am, too.)

^ No I got it. I'm the third born of a third born, eh sorta, and I have to agree more with "The Fourth Born" personality; than the "Third Born" personality.

(Confused yet? I think I am, too.) Definitely. I think the second-born analysis you linked to does suit Azula pretty well. But since I tend to be self-absorbed a lot of the time (I put myself down, I must be a second-born!), I was quicker to compare myself with the analysis than I was to compare any of the Avatar cast.

So...Who the Marsha and who the Jan in this sibling relationship Cause it weird that each parent gave emotion mostly to only one child....So Azula is daddies little girl but never seem to be on mom good grace and Zuko a mama's boy but always get a lashing from dad.

Well...I learned that Zuko is bothered about himself, so he is not turning into a guy who doesn't take notice of anything.
Ty-Lee really longs for attention, since she felt she was no indivudual at home. So she joined the circus, so people will look at her and admire her. Maybe she wanted some attention from Zuko too, or just wanted him to like her as a friend. (Or she had a crush, but that isn't really clear, I think, since she had so many boys around her)
Zuko and Mai are quite grown up and understand they can't just leave eachother after one fight. (Like you do in kindergarden; I don't like you, you can't come to my party!...Well I don't like you either, you can't come to my party to!)
And he is a jealous guy, not liking any attention from other guys for his girl. As for Azula, she is social very weak, always focusing on power. I guess she missed a lot, by living in the palace. If you look at that, maybe Zuko is social stronger.

^ He did have to pretend to be a peasant and be nice to the others he met along the way. In addition he met Li, Song, Jin, etc so yeah. While Azula probably did stay at the palace for most of her life and her only friends were Ty Lee and Mai.

The only people she knew were her brother, Ty-Lee, Mai some firebenders from the castle, Iroh and her father. She doesn't even like some of those people.
