Yesterday evening, I walked to my local Dollar Castle to pick me up some dinner (i.e. ramen). Then, in an empty area of the parking lot, I find a cell phone. Not just a cell phone, a palm thingy. It's pretty nice. So I pick it up, and it's perfectly in tack. When I go to the dollar store, to my luck, the local security guard is there, so I figure that I'll go give the phone to him. Unfortunately, he can't really do anything, and tells me to go to the cell phone service store and then they'll do something about it (he left me saying that it's a good thing that there are still honest people in the world).
So after visiting my friend who also works in that plaza, I make my way home. There's a park and some semi-wooded areas on the way, so I hear scratching and rustling, but by this time of day, no birds, cuz they're all making their way home for the night.
Cept on the ground, I hear a small chirping,
and I see a baby bird on the ground.
It was just a fledgling, so I'm guessing that it was attempting to fly a bit too early but fell out of its nest, and it couldn't get back up. At first, the half of myself that tells me to "support the circle of life/path of nature" told me to just walk away, a predator will come and er, you know.
But then when the little brat almost falls down a storm drain and get's hit by two cars (not to mention that this is the time of day when teenagers come and gather in the park and are up to no good), I just had to call my older brother.
So, two finds in one day.
Not the good kind of finds though.
Ya see, a lot of you guys on here my think of me as a devil woman or something, but, do you now how easy it is to be, well, evil (or in a less severe notion, "heartless", "mean", etc.)? (Here's a hint: you don't do anything for anybody/thing and selfishly put yourself before all else). I could have taken that cell phone for myself, taken out the SD card, put my own in there and kept it for myself, and I could have kicked that little bird until it was no more.
But being a good hearted person - who also believes in karma and is a wannabe wildlife vet - I'm gonna turn the cell phone into either the proper authorities or the server and I'm taking care of the baby bird until I can give it to the local rehab center.
And it really sucks that this all happened the evening before I leave for Chicago this evening.
Oh well. Cosmic points for me anyway.
