I have to agree about america's decline in intellegence and rise is greed. I hate it too. I guess the only way to resolve this is to put treated-aluminum fences around the perimeter of the rollercoaster and make it much taller.
I only hope the parents didn't cash in this death, that would be a horrible thing to do, your child is worth more than any amount of money, suing people won't bring him back.

The thing that bothers me about this is that the media keeps comparing it to last summer's accident with the Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. They are completely different events and it makes Six Flags look bad when this one really wasn't their fault. If the parents are thick enough to sue, there is no way they can win. This was completely their kid's fault.
And if he had a disability, visual impairment, or anything like that, it would be all over the articles.

Have they started the Court case yet? Or has it been resolved? I want to know what the results are.

I view this much the same way as I view anything else that is the "victim"'s fault: Why the hell would you do something that stupid?
I have absolutely no sympathy for him. Natural selection has to work somehow, and despite society's attempts to help everybody, it's going to get through to at least a few.

While I do think that Americans are too quick to sue everyone for millions over just about anything, I dont see the point needs belabouring here since as far as I know the family hasnt sued. And comparing someone's death to the inconvenience of not getting to go on particular ride on a certain day is pretty extreme in my opinion but hey, different strokes, right? You're sounding a bit stereotypical, and I would love it if you substituted the word "Americans" with people in general. Not everyone fits into the stereotype, so please, think about those things before bellowing them out. It might offend someone.

all i have to say about this is that most of society doesn't care about compassion anymore.... people only care about themselves and when someone does something like this that costs them their lives people don't think about the "If that was me, or my friend...". We are more cold and uncompassionate then we've every been mostly because we don't care and only sulk in our petty lives that we don't value the lives of others!!... just look at this video... almost the same thing as the Six Flags... but worse... it made me cry how naive and careless people can be!

Ill even allow that some other societies are catching up. Nevertheless, I maintain that my statements are justifiable. The comments posted before mine hinting that the family might sue hints at this fact. Try finding a lawyer who doesnt think that American Society is more litigious than others. Sorry if you were offended but thats just how I see it.

I give him no sympathy! If he was stupid enough to climb 2 6ft fences with warning singns then its his stupid @ss fault he died.

I quite agree that this is an obvious contender for the next round of the Darwin Awards, and I certainly don't have any sympathy for the notion of suing the theme park - but I know that I've made foolhardy decisions in my life that could have ended badly, and I'm just lucky that they didn't.
I mean, no, I certainly wouldn't have done what this kid did - and, yes, I DO think it was desperately stupid - but I've taken my share of stupid chances, things that I wince when I look back, and so it feels hypocritical to pile on him too much. He ran a dumb risk, for whatever reason - partly because he couldn't conceive of anything terrible happening to him, I dare say (which is so often the case, especially when we're young), and he won't be passing on any of his foolhardy DNA to the next generation.
I feel terribly sorry for his poor parents, but I do hope they will man up and realise that he was responsible for his own decision. Trying to pass the buck to the theme park shows the same sense of maturity and responsibility that the kid showed himself by ignoring all the fences and warning signs.

Common sense is in everyone, we might not like to think so, but it really is.
It's all about how you want to live your life, and how you live your life.
Lets take for example subject 1 and subject 2. Subject 1 and subject 2 both possess the same sense of common sense. Now subject 1 is walking down a hallway, and subject 2 is hiding behind a wall. Subject 2 jumps out and scares subject 1 and subject 1 throws an elbow into subject 2's mouth. Now you can argue for both sides in this sense that subject 2 should have been aware of all those consequences for scaring someone blah blah blah and subject 1 should have thought things through before administering the quickest short jab of his life.
Really? Its just two people messin around. Both have common sense but decided to suspend it for just a few minutes, things got out of hand but they are all fine in the end. Mistakes happen and sometimes they are fatal.
Common sense is a choice, its not something you are born with. You learn it as you go from mistakes. How many of you people could honestly say that you learn better from watching someone do something like a chemistry lab than actually do it yourself. Now there are some universal givens of common sense. Dont play on the railroad tracks, dont mess around with a loaded gun, etc. etc. And some people tend to ignore these things. Its not because they DONT have common sense, its just because theyre not using it.
Think of it this way, that poor boy who climbed that fence probably had about as much common sense as you and me. Thats the scary part. Because he decided to climb that fence does not make him a savage or any lesser part of civilization, that just makes him a good climber. People die, and sometimes they dont die in the most... "heroic" fashions.
And of course with every death in America, there was a possibility of profit involved. I bet his parents tried to step in that water but just couldnt take the frosty cold bite that was defeat.
