Ours doesn't shower too often...and he's kind of creepy...he can be cool sometimes though, like when he told the cheeleaders to shut up and quit whining about us blocking their path off of the bus. See, we usually sit in the back because we have to gather all of our uniform parts and such together, and so we would block the path if we were up front...well, the cheerleaders decided to sit in back, so we all jumped up when we got to the game and took our time gathering our stuff...the girls started whining very loudly, and our director (who's an ex-Marine, and VERY loud) basically told them to stuff their pom-poms where the sun doesn't shine and get over it ;D Man, I think that's a story that will be passed down in the band for years to come

^ Ex-Marine? Nice! XD Ours just got back from his tour in Iraq. We do pushups for forgetting music, leaving out instruments, losing any of our random junk, leaving out waterbottles... The list goes on! He does them with us, but our drum line gets it soo often. He doesn't stand for anything from the pom squads or dance either - when we do a field show, he's in charge, no matter what their instructor may think. We have so many freshmen this year! Our school is pretty small - about 800 kids - and our band tripled in size just with freshmen. So this year, forget about wool uniforms, way too expensive; we got these sleek black rainjackets with hoods, pockets, and everything. They're amazing! I play clarinet as well, and this year I just picked up the tenor sax.

Trust me, the wind can go right through them when you're just wearing a t-shirt underneath... *shudder*

My director is awesome. We stole him from another school ;D So now their band is down 50 members because the director's gone (they'll get over it--we need him more) We have to do pushups also, when we forget stuff or are being really bad (which is often, but last week I got to give out pushups because I was the only one who did the move right -- I gave them to the drum major) Awapuhi-- You guys have new uniforms each year? We have the same ones every year. The ones that we used to have were almost 50 years old. THe ones we now have are only 2. Except that they have hats with plumes. How I loathe plumes....(even though they are fun to play with when you're bored)

I find it funny that the plumes look like they're still alive when the wind blows. That and they're so soft and fuzzy...lol

People, people, people... you are deluded. French horn owns everyting. Frech horn was invented by Grandi himself. French horn players have to feel awesome so they won't drop out of band and thin their numbers even further.
I just joined Jazz band with Marching French horn. Like a band geek, this makes me happy. Yes, I am a band geek. Life's too short NOT to be a band geek.

You don't want to know what we call our plumes...it's probably not appropriate for the forum ;D We actually don't wear them anymore, because if you bounce at all when you march, you can see it in the plumes, and we'd always lose points at contest because of them. Our uniforms are 3 years old, and the one I have was actually fitted for me. See, we had these old uniforms that you couldn't bend over in for fear of ripping your pants, and we finally raised enough money to buy new ones, and so everyone who was in marching band at the time was fit for their own uniforms...amazingly, mine still fits ;D As for punishments, if we miss a summer practice, or if we get out of control, we have to march lines-that is, we have to hit the lines on the field every 8 steps, and if we mess up even once, we have to go back again and do it over...he also yells alot, but most of us ignore it now ^.^ And you have it all wrong--Saxophones own all
