Yeah my cable does call it the Red Spirit.

I guess I saw a glimpse of what could be in the future with Zuko a member of the gaang. How would the others react with him a part of the group? I figured Sokka would have good times in making fun of Zuko like he does everyone else. Then Katara came to mind. She likes rebels(I saw Jet before this one) and I saw Zuko as becoming the ultimate rebel if he deflected from his dream of restoring his honor.

It took root from there.

I've been thinking about that rebel aspect lately too. I mean, his leaving the Fire Nation and breaking with Ozai is a heck of a lot more than being banished. Iroh used to always call him 'Prince Zuko' when he was banished, but he really can't call himself that now can he? So there's no restoration of honor or return to the status quo. He has nothing to offer anyone but his beliefs and his talent at this point.

Katara does like the scruffy rebel-type.

And she does like hair.

It's almost like he was created just for her.

And speaking of the Blue Spirit -- I'm really hoping we see some action like that in the coming episodes. Once the gaang starts encountering the bad guys again that is.

Zuko is probably wanted Dead or Alive by the Fire Nation. Fire Lord Ozai doesn't have a clue of who rebel Jet was but he knows rebel Zuko. *sings Dead or Alive*

Since Katara and Zuko opened up to each other in COD(I love the name of that because it sure crisscrossed some destines), I am looking forward to the time that they conversate again. It has to happen. Lets see how she reacts to his true rebel speech.

Yeah, I want to see Zuko and Katara tag team some villains. Swords, fire, tumbling, and water . . . I can't wait.

That one was so cute! Elicited the obligatory "Awww!" ^.^ It's beautiful as a lineart, but maybe somebody will color it, too.

Interesting discussion on "The Blue Spirit" being the episode to inspire Zutara ~ I myself was boring and picked up on it at the Waterbending Scroll. ;D

I really never thought of 'The Blue Spirit' as a starting point for Zutara. To be honest, I actually never seriously thought of it until 'The Chase', but I started to see it in "The Waterbending Scroll'. But when you put it like that, I can definately see how it could be a Zutara-ish episode. Katara is a rebel-lover, and heck, she is one herself with her destroying factories and all.

I didn't care at all about shipping for the longest time. Actually, I hoped that Zuko and Katara would get together from the first season because I thought it would be the greatest doable challenge for the creators to make that work, but I would have been just as happy with no shipping. I've admitted (too many times I'm sure) I've never liked the canon shipping we've gotten (although I might have supported Maiko if things had been presented differently) so that makes my wish for no-shipping even stronger. Ah the doable challenge and the wish that will never be.

The fights are what drew me to Avatar though. I love choreographed fighting no matter what style it is. I've missed it in season 3.

I wonder what kind of situation we'll see them all fighting side-by-side again. Another face-off with Azula? The gAang against the Angels ... AWKWARD.

I also stared watching Avatar cause of the fights my first episodes was SotFN. As for zutara I had never thought about it till I saw fanart of it.

I mean at first I didn't mind it but after becoming part of the fandom...it just got so annoying have to hear why I was stupid for shipping Zutara

I find it more uplifting to focus on how great the Zutara community is than to think about how mean people can be to us. Of course sometimes I still lash out, but it doesn't get me anywhere ... in fact it gets boring pretty quick.

Actually I don't think I ever 'shipped' anything before this and it was really the crew here at DH that brought me in. That and all the really creative work that supporters put out. Some of the best fics I've read and art I've seen support Zutara.

It's funny, somebody who was a complete non-shipper -- leaning toward Kataang if anything -- recently wrote to my aunt and said she'd changed her mind based on my aunt's fic. This artist hasn't become a 'shipper' but she sees and is drawn to Zutara much more now. I think that kind of thing happens a lot. You read something, or see a piece of art and it just clicks.

Don't let a certain group of people stop you from at least looking into kataang. There are a lot of zutarains (not on Dh) who say maiko's are stupid for liking maiko but I don't let that stop me from exploring the aspects of zutara. I don't ship zutara but I'll have to say there is plenty of wonderful zutara fan works and zutaraians.
