I vote Azula! Hey she is sexy, what can I say? *winks* Not to mention I want to steal her armor...especially what she was wearing in Day of Black Sun...hehehe. *coughamongotherthingscough* I also love her for the fact that she is a strong female character. Usually If you come across a character with her type of personality it is usually played by a male. So she is a nice refreshing change and I admire the creators for that. I have a soft spot for Long Feng as well, mostly because he is voiced by Clancy Brown who is God. Seriously though, Brown is a fantastic actor. Interestingly enough he was involved in another show about Avatars: Carnivale. Great great show that was. He gave a very powerful performance. CONFIRM'D on the Azula part. I <3 how she is the strong villain we usually see played by guys. And I totally fall for girls with confidence.. Maybe that has something to do with it? She’s sly, manipulative, determined, and her conviction is one not to be easily broken down.

lol Like Azula's flames said, at this point you don't have to share him, admirality. But rest assured that if instead of favorite character, this were a favorite villain poll (not counting Zuko as a villain, that is), then His Lordship would have at least one more vote. But since it is what it is, I of course voted Zuko.

As if I needed to say, my vote went to Zuko! He's been my favorite since episode #1 and has remained that way. He's complex and I love the struggle he had to go through to get where he is.........even if we knew this is where he would end up!! Zuko will always be my #1!!
Tied for second is Iroh and Hakoda. Iroh cause he's awesome and Hakoda cause he's an awesome dad and warrior.

Voted Azula. Toph and Zuko are very close behind her, though!
I voted her because I just love her character. She's strong and confident, sometimes a bit cocky actually. Not to mention she's an evil, crazy, badass! She just owns so much Equus asinus, I love it. I can't wait until the finale, because I think she's going to go completely insane! She'll be psycho and crazy and evil and I'm going to love every second of it!
I love Toph, too, though, because she so tough and I love her tomboy personality. She's an amazing bender and also kicks major Equus asinus. I absolutely love her. Zuko's one of my favorites as well because he's got so much determination and he's so focussed on his goals. Only thing I don't like is how he can be emo-ish at times, especially when he was with Mai...*gag*. Anyway, I love all three of them, but Azula still [barely] beats the other two for my #1 spot.

wow... wy is everyone saying Zuko? I mean, sure they modeled him after me (yes, I do look like Zuko) but really now?
my favorite characters are Toph and Iroh, because they're so totally whoop-a**. I mean, I have never really seen Toph "defeated" (captured? yes. defeated? no) and Iroh? well, no mere prison can hold teh man. he's a beast.
so there's my 2 bits on teh matter. ~Zuko~

Because of the power of fangirls and his sexy glossy swishy hair he also has the fire royal awesome sexy genes which is why Azula is second (barely) Or.....maybe because Zuko is one of the most interesting, realistic, and awesome characters in a cartoon ever! Maybe because of his sad past, his path to redemption, his depth, and his struggle. Then again it's probably because of the sexy voice, the gorgeous eyes, the hot temper, the high cheeckbones, the hair, the shirtlessness(see eppie 1-3), and his all around sexiness. Of coiurse this may just be the fangirl in me speaking.!!! I've loved him from day one, well Zuko and his fantabulous uncle, and shall remain true to him. Although, Toph made me fall in love with her as well at first sight. But it will always be Zuko, for ALL the reasons I mentioned above. I do think that most people love him for a good mixture of the reasons I stated. We can't help it.............It's Zuko's fault!!!

If Zuko's, wah, wah, Boo, Hoo, " daddy doesnt love me". past, and his reaction to it, is "realistic".... then I want to be anything but "realistic". He is redeemed, so he's ok in my eyes.... but when your redeeming your own major frack-ups you dont do anything but get back to square1 IMO. as far as tragic pasts and quests go. Aang not onl got a scar, but his whole culture was wiped out... Would people like Aang more if he cried to the heavens about them holding him back on his quest for vengeance? would that make him more "realistic"? And his quest of redemption is to fufull his duties as avatar... fearing he cant live up to that... as opposed as shoveling his own philoprogenitiveness. But neither of them compare to Iroh. good humored and illusioned to the evils of someone close to him he loved... he was like a combination of Zuko and aang... only when he lost his son, his throne, and was awakened to the evil of his brother. He didnt Emo about, or become singl-minded in an attempt to restore things to the way they were. When all else failed, his quest was one of (gasp) self-betterment. imagine that. I really wish we knew more about his story.

I think it's because he has such a big character arc. He goes from being the bad guy, though still a more understandable bad guy with some depth. It's not like just some random angry guy out to destroy the world for no reason. And for that he was more understandable. Then he starts to change; he stops chasing Aang and he tries to find another destiny. He's dragged back in, and while everyone was really mad that he went back to the way he was, we still see him struggle to decide what's right and best for him. He is back in the fire nation and realizes that getting his honor back didn't really fix everything, so he leaves to join Aang and the others, the total opposite of where he was at the beginning. It's not about the tragic past, but about his change over the course of the series that gave him a lot of depth and huge arc. The creators said so themselves that he had the biggest character arc.
I wouldn't say Zuko just cried and went emo about it, because that means he would cry in a corner and do nothing. Instead he worked hard to achieve his goal and earn his honor back. Yes, he was upset about what his father did, but who wouldn't? He was more focussed on himself in the beginning, doing what was best for him instead of what's best for the world, but eventually he realized what was best for the world was not what he was doing.
But I can't argue with Iroh. He is the wisdom of the show, and I absolutely love him. If you were to ask who the best character was, all-around, I would say Iroh hands-down. He's the most intelligent and understanding of all the characters. But since the question is who is my favorite, I go with the crazy psycho fire b!tch because I love that element and I love the evil ones (to put it simply). ;]

But for some a big character arc is not what drives to push one character over another. For me it's heart. Who is the heart of the series. Who has the emotional pull. Who speaks to me the most in terms of interest. And I am sure other people will agree on that, regardless of the character they choose.
Honestly, despite Zuko's character arc he still lacks the emotional pull, the heart, and the interest in general. Of course there are times where I am affected. The character that holds all of those things as well as being my favorite is Aang.
Aang is for me a character that shines. And I'll just leave it at that.
I don't understand Zuko needing to destroy lives and hurt people solely to achieve the love of a parent.
