I was watching the Blue Spirit the other day, and I noticed this that the abandoned earth kingdom city had a large statue of a Badgermole. Like this: Is it possible the EK had an ancient civilization similar to the Sun Warriors, that focused on the Badermoles as the ultimate earthbending masters? Would this be how earthbending originated? Note: I would put a post like this in theories, but it is obviously linked to this episode, and isn't really significant enough for it's own thread...

Well, we know the origin of Earth Bending from "Cave of Two Lovers" and that the first Eartbenders were Oma and Shu, but we don't know how long ago that happened. Could a civilization have arisen after their time that worshipped Badger-moles just like the Sun Warriors worship dragons? Why not?

melloyello: That's an interesting theory, and one worthy of consideration. I think it's possible, but it's hard to say for sure without more information. But on a side note, do you think the WTs could have had a similar ancient civilization? What about the ANs? (Tho I'm guessing that, spiritual as they are, the Air Nomads kind of are the ancient civilization of airbending, which stuck around until Sozin wiped them out.)

Just to remind everyone, this is the Spoilers Board. This is where you talk about spoilers (things that are sure to happen).
If you have a theory as to what will happen, then please post it in to Theories Board. Thanks ~West

I have a lot of questions. i hope that's different. But on a side note, do you think the WTs could have had a similar ancient civilization? What about the ANs? (Tho I'm guessing that, spiritual as they are, the Air Nomads kind of are the ancient civilization of airbending, which stuck around until Sozin wiped them out.) No, the history of every element is different. For example, the Waterbenders learned their craft from the moon, not an animal. Which is one thing that surprised me about the Sun Warriors. I thought the first Firebenders would worship the sun spirit, not the dragons, and with a name like Sun Warriors... On another note, we know Iroh was the last person before Zuko and Aang to see the last dragons. I wonder who else (if anyone) got to before him... or tried and failed. I got the impression this sacrifice ritual we saw was pretty routine. I also wonder why the civilization went underground thousands of years ago if the war and corruption of Firebending only started 112+ years ago.

How can we actually talk about what we think these episodes are about then? ;p

melloyello's theory is a bit of a sticky situation...it IS a theory and by definition SHOULD be in the Theories board...however...it is directly related to a spoiler and so therefore cannot be discussed outside the Spoilers board until such time as The Firebending Masters airs in the US...or the third DVD is released...whichever comes first.
I think a little leeway may be required here, hmmm?

I think Season 3 Zuko is a pretty cool guy, eh mimics Prince of Persia and doesn't afraid of anything.

The two dragons were Zuko's halves sort of speaking. One was red being good Zuko, one being blue which pertains to the Blue Spirit.
I thought that this epidose was great, firebending at its source, what it truely is. We all thought that it was about hate and distruction, but we learn that fire is also life, harmony, and truely a splending form of bending if held in the right hands. Zuko and Aang both learn this and use it to their advantage. Take the Dancing Dragon for example, not only is it a firebending form from centuries ago, but it is the true mark of the Sun Warrior Tribe, and it's valued secret.
Only a guess, but Iroh probably went there after his adventure in the spirit world. He probably ended up like Zuko realizing he can't firebend out of rage and distruction.
Hence why I love Iroh so much.
