Ooh! That would be awesome in so many ways Taiyo! I'd suggest you look up the Eros and Psyche myth. It works beautifully! Especially the part about where Psyche isn't aloud to see her husband. It's Eros in disguise. While we're on the subject about Taang, Koh and Mythology: Is anyone else finding it interesting how our theories make Toph-a Miss Indepentant young woman-a damsel in distress? What do you think scholars would interpret that as?

What do you think scholars would interpret that as? Miss Independent would do well against physical MORTAL foes. Drop in any spirit world denizen she'd be terribly outclassed. For one thing she can't see dead people, she can't see period. Second ever tried hurting a ghost by throwing a rock at it? Doesn't quite work out so good. The only member of the group who has even the slightest chance of defending himself and the rest against such enemies is Aang. I'd say he's the only one in the world, barring any mystics, shamans and other paranormal practitioners. It's not a slight against Toph, but everyone has their limits...except for Aang in canon...yes I am still cheesed. Lion-Turtles do no exist in World Tour. I've made Aang mock people who believe they exist in World Tour.

Yay! Mythic Taang! ^_^ Good Job Taiyo, you get a Karma! PersonallyI think Eros and Psyche are to Taang what Hades and Persephone are to Zutara. Miss Independent would do well against physical MORTAL foes. Drop in any spirit world denizen she'd be terribly outclassed. For one thing she can't see dead people, she can't see period. I've made Aang mock people who believe they exist in World Tour. Well, according to Bryke-spurned though we may be, their tidbits can still be of use-Lion-Turtles are just normal animals, extreamly spiritual though the may be. As for Spiritbending as shown in the Finale, I see it as something only the most powerful spirits can do, such as Tui/Yue, La, Agni, and my Fan-Spirits Feng, Da Di and Pan Ding. And since I see the Avatar Spirit-which is currently in Aang-is one of those "Most Powerful Spirits," it makes sense that the avatar-in theory- could do it as well if given the knowledge. How else do you expect Aang to free Toph from Koh's clutches? Also, years ago I read a Fan-Essay on Bending in the show and Fan-Bending in fan fiction(this was before we learned that Lighteningbending and metalbending were not only real, but a part of Firebending and Earthbending respectivly, and when things like 'Woodbending' and 'Shadowbending' were common). In it, the author said that if any truely original 'Fifth Element' bending would be made/considered canon, it would be what he called "Chi-Bending," something he supposed only the Spirits could do since they were of the Spirit World, which is made of Chi as the Physical World is made of the elements-and explaining why there is no bending in the Spirit World.

Normal animals...that talk? If Simba-in-the-half-shell was meant to be just another mutant mammal-reptile mish mash why did it have to talk? No, what I'm discontent with is that the oversized terrapin was there to give Aang the easy way out. If Charlie Brown had figured out Spirit Bending on his own or with some help from the previous Avatars, I wouldn't be so ticked. Lion-O here just came out of left field. I don't begrudge the direction canon has taken. It's just not for me. One dark idea I had was that when Turtle Island implanted Aang with the secret of spirit bending, he was actually working for Koh and thus slipped in some mind virus. Kinda like how computer viruses work. Aang gets an email saying, "Congratulations, you've won the right to learn Spirit Bending, save the world and get the girl of your dreams all without fuss!" He opens it up and gets infected by some worm or trojan that slowly wipes his computer's boot memory. That or he gets random pop-ups and has his internet browser's homepage switched with less than family friendly sites. All this is an analogy to Aang going crazy. At that point I would have ripped a little from Spider-Man and made Aang slightly Venom-esque...but without the drool and the three foot long tongue.

You're forgetting something else that they said: Lion-Turtles are also extreamly spiritual. I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it two. ...Actually, the thing really just opened and closed its mouth, I think it was mostly speaking telepathically.
And I agree, I wish the writing team would've spent some time with Aang talking about legends of the Nomads, even if it's in something like the Escape rom the Spirit World thing. It would've been a great oppertunety to hint at Lion-Turtles, Spiritbending, all those things.
And was it the easy way out? From one aspect: yes. But from another, it was very brave of Aang.
........But personally, I'd love to see Ozai break out with his bending not only returned, but improved(can you guess from who?), just to see Aang's reaction.
And call me sadistic if you want, but if I were to do a sequel series, I'd add a Spirit to the list of Major Secondary/Minor Main characters that takes joy in proving Aang wrong in all his principles, and laughing in his face about it.
Well, what I see the "Turtle Island" (That's a funny name there! ^_^) as, is something the Cosmos created-with the rest of it's now nearly extinct species-to keep the barrier between the worlds intact. Espectially during the solstices.
Why is that you ask? One word: Koh. In my fanon, Koh is to Avatar is what Satan is to Christanity. He's Lucifer, The Beast and the Anti-Christ all roled into one. If he get's into the physical world, it's all going down hill from there.

If he get's into the physical world, it's all going down hill from there. Another thing that got to me was why weren't the other Avatars aware of it? Why did it appear after all these years, decades, centuries, just for Aang? Kinda forces the point that Aang isn't just special, he's special-er. I read a dark fic in one of the LJ coms, Katara_Zuko I think, about how the other Avatars were royally displeased with Aang for throwing their advise in their faces and listening to the Island from LOST. There were other factors of course, including how Baldy stopped acting like an Avatar and more like a child mixed with a jealous boyfriend. Shirking his duties and such. I sometimes write Koh as Satan. Sometimes I just write him as doing his job. It's not a nice job but someone has to do it. In the cases of him just doing his job, tormenting Aang is a hobby or an added bonus. Plus he's there to slap Aang in the face with reality. Life isn't all sunshine and lollipops...not matter what Mike and Brian intended for Aang. Aang: "What the? You monster! You started another war!" Koh: "I'm just doing my job, unlike you! If you had been more active in being the Avatar and less active in trying to get with your waterbender, you would have stopped Ozai from escaping." Aang: "You let him out!" Koh: "It's in my job description! Provide conflict as a balance to harmony. Look! See? It's on my schedule." Aang: "Ummi's face is on your schedule too?!" Koh: "Yes. I had to pencil it in at the last minute. Like your friend the earthbender. I was supposed to take her face, but then you had to muck up the scheme of things with the whole listen tot he Turtle Island thing. *sigh* I can't believe we missed one when we took over management of the world. The First Avatar was supposed to fire of all of them. Disgruntled ex-employees indeed. Anyway, you took the mutant's advise and the board of directors, IE the Great Spirits, had me redo my whole plan to fit this new future you created. I was supposed to take the earthbender's face as your personal challenge, like Ummi's was to Kuruk. But you went for the waterbender and the Moon Spirit voted no on taking hers. So the end result is another war to test your mettle." Aang: "I ended the war!" Koh: "No. You cleared up Roku's leftover paperwork before we canned him. You haven't faced your own yet. Sheesh, what is it with the new Avatars lately. it's like Yang Chen and Kyoshi were our last good ones. Maybe because they were women. Makes them more focused in doing their job. Memo to Spirit Resource department. Hire female Avatars in the future...." Aang: "You're not making any sense!" Koh: "Look, I'm just middle management here. I've got my own thorax on the line." Aang: "Middle management? What about me? What's the Avatar?" Koh: "Why, one of my many pawns...err...I mean loyal and dilligent co-workers of course. You're kind of the on-site agent if you will. The order gets passed down and you do it. So get to it, the Board frowns on tardiness and cutting corners. Believe me they've had enough of that from you over the past year."

Hot daang, I bet s/he was pleased to see that become canon. ^I just finished reading and that was great for your first fic! I thought the characters were true to themselves and how you tied up the ending with what was said in the beginning was marvelous. Karma for you! ::karmas:: Before I get off and do homework, xcgirl08 did a recent Taang pic. I had thought the pairing had died in her heart. Thank goodness it didn't. Lol, at the melon-lord thing. And Bizmarck's art is adorable. <3
Out of curiosity, I was wondering why you guys prefer taang over tokka. I mean, I get a bunch of reasons on why Toph is supposedly better for Aang then Katara, but what about Sokka? For me, Tokka came out of nowhere. They didn't talk much before she devoloped a crush on him, and even then they didn't get any earth-shattering moments. They were cute and funny, which was great. And I do like Tokka. But Sokka is over-protective, doesn't Toph hate that? And Toph is always teasing him, Suki always makes him feel good about himself, but at the same itme, humbles him down. They don't really benefit much from eachother, and Sokka can't seem to stand up to Toph. (I never got the 'Aang's too much of a wimp for Toph' argument, considering he is capable of contradicitng her as shown in Bitter work, and he is extremely patient with her.

*karma for the question and analysis*
Well, for me I'll always love Taang more over Tokka for the potential the ship could've gone with the whole Swamp saga. I have never read a story where you see someone in a vision and then they become the person you'd least expect to have a close connection to and fall in love with (if anyone knows one, please tell me. Seriously. <333) Now I would say chemistry as well but I think Tokka has good chemistry too.
Though I think Tokka did have some slight hints before Secret of the Fire Nation (such as Sokka trying to stop Toph from leaving in The Chase and Toph pulling Sokka out of the dirt in Bitter Work). <---Okay, maybe those aren't good hints but when I was watching those episodes when they first aired, they did make me raise my eyebrows. But I agree about their interaction; it was cute and funny. The overprotective part, I'm not sure 'cause I've never really thought about that.
About the wimp part, it's probably because of their difference when it comes to fighting. Aang's submissive and prefers doing things peacefully unless you tick him off and take Appa or something while Toph is headstrong and has no problem fighting. But you're right, he's shown he can stand his ground against her in Bitter Work and do serious damage with Earthbending in SotFN and The Earth King.
