Sho smiled slightly at Fen's comment. Her eyes flicked back and forth between the two, absorbing them both. The crackling fire brought her some warmth and Sho stuck out her hands as if to gather the fire in them. If I were a firebender, then I could she thought.
The sound of the sizzling fish made her mouth water. They would taste good after two days of nothing but dry bread and any scrounged scraps or nuts she could find. Her eyes landed on Horyo.
"If you don't mind me asking, how exactly do you plan on taking on the Fire Nation soldiers?" She asked, drawing on their conversation from before. "I mean, are you planning on gathering some sort of offending army or maybe take them all out one by one?"

Horyo turned to Fen and grinned at her light joke. Had he still be out in the rain, or somewhere unpleasant, he might have rebuffed her comment with a sarcastic remark (And you must love dirt coming from the Earth Kingdom).
However, he had nibbled and chewed on his small meal, near a warm fire, and so he was in light humor, just as he usually is.
Horyo then heard Sho's comment, and his grin formed into a wide smile. "Well, I'm not sure I can form an army in a foreign land, or take on the whole camps with five-hundred soldiers-" He paused, entertaining the fact that he had taken on five firebenders at once, though it involved a great deal of running and hiding before he took all of them out.
He continued: "-But I know that the Fire Nation uses machinery, and machines are produced on factories, which use resources delivered from ships or metal carts. These supply lines usually hold three or four soldiers, benders maybe. But-" He looked around at both women, "-The supply lines usually go on dangerous routes or potentially hazardous roadways. I'm not worried about their ships, because with a little blasting jelly, marvelous invention, I can blow a hole in their bottom and sink them. With supply trails, I can try to run them off their routes....somehow, I haven't figured the exact mechanics but I have a general idea." He stopped talking, and took a sip of water from his waterskin.
Then, he continued the talking, at an excited rate. "When the camps starve, they'll have to move to another location or raid a town. And in the nearby town, traps will be set to take htem out, and then I can use my waterbending and warrior training to take them on. The only problem is... the townspeople might be injured after that ordeal..." He trailed off, and his eyes fixated on the fire.

Fen listened to his plan. "That's pretty ambitious." she said. "You're going to need as many people as you can get." Fen's eyes began staring into the fire almost dreamily. "I heard the Avatar is near Ba Sing Se. That's a long way from here, but maybe we'll run into him..." she said, her voice trailing off. She had heard stories about his various escapes from the Fire Nation, most all of them daring rescues with small chances for success. Needless to say, they were already falling into legends.
Snapping out of her slight daze, she looked towards Horyo again. "What do you plan to do if you can't get enough people to join you." she asked, genuinely curious. "Not all men are as brave as they say they are. They pretend to be fearless, but when the time comes for them to prove themselves, they run away." she said. "Not that I'm calling you a coward" she rushed to explain, "but some may be too cowardly to join you."

Sho pulled out a small loaf of bread and, with a little muscle-power, broke it into three dry pieces. She offered the other two parts to Fen and Horyo and took a bite of her own. She swallowed with difficulty and took a swig of water from her water-bag. She thought about what Horyo was saying.
"Well," she said, "If you need some help, I know some people in Ba Sing Se." She eyed Horyo and then Fen. "My cousin...he's part of a rebel group or something. They meet in the city, but they help out-laying towns that Fire Nation troops have taken over. I mean, I haven't seen him in while, but I'm sure he would help you out." She took another drink of water.
"And they've been working for a while so I guess they are pretty," she glanced at Fen and grinned, "fearless."

Horyo stared into the flickering fire for a few minutes. "If no one joins me, and I doubt that, I'll have to do what I can." A solemn shift in his voice echoed loudly near the trees. He took a small loaf of bread from Sho, rolled it around in his hands, and bit into it. The dry hard crust crunched in his mouth, and he chewed quite contently.
Weariness swept over him, and his eyes weighed down on his face. Horyo gathered a few leaves and set them in a pile, a small one at that. He lay his head down and shut his eyes, aftering yawning a breath.
"Well, I'm tired, and I'm gonna sleep now."

Sho looked down at Horyo and blinked.
"Well," she turned to Fen, "I'll stay awake for a little while, if you want. Strange people come down this road sometimes and it's always better if there's someone who keeps watch." She smiled slightly at the 'strange people' and looked at Fen's face to see how she would react.
"That is, of course, if you trust me."

Fen grinned back, feeling tiredness creep in. "You seem fine. I trust you not to kill us in our sleep." she said.
She pulled a thin blanket from her bag and then arranged her pack so it acted as her pillow. "But I don't think we should worry too much. These walls seem pretty strong." Fen said, her hazel eyes twinkling from the firelight.
Fen began to lay down, but one more thought came to her. "But don't stay up too late. I don't want you to be tired tomorrow morning. It's several miles walk either way to the nearest village-not a trip one wants to make if tired."
With a final smile at Sho, Fen lay down and drifted off to sleep.

Small twitters sounded outisde; however, the patter of rain drowned out even the slightest melody. Horyo opened his eyes and felt a numbness come over his leg; he had slept on it. Trying to sit up, he looked outside the rock slates and saw grim clouds shading away a rising sun.
He yawned, and stretched out his arms, then (painfully) attempted to raise himself from his deadened leg. Soon blood rushed in and he felt the numbness departing, in small prickling sensations.
Morning Time and he lacked food, in his sack and his stomach. Horyo pondered whehter to leave the and search for food without telling the other two (hopefully not waking them up, because it was too dark to tell who was awake) or to wake someone up.

Sho had fallen asleep, her head falling on her chest as she leaned against one of the rock walls she had created. Her dreamless sleep was interrupted by Horyo's awakening disturbance. She eyes snapped open and immediately found the young man's face. She sat, unmoving for a moment, then rolled her sore shoulders.
"Morning," she mumbled, even though the sky was barely lit. She stood and grabbed her bag where it was still hanging on the tree branch. She rummaged in it for a moment and then pulled out an apple. She glanced over at Horyo and raised her eyebrows.
"Want one? I have five more, though they are a little wrinkly."

Fen awoke to a very sore left side where she had slept on the hard rock. Sitting up with a grimace, she rubbed her arm where it had been lying on the cold stone all night.
Noticing Sho had brought out an apple, Fen thought it would only be polite if she offered some of her own food to the other two. She grabbed her bag and rooted through, eventually successful when she found a bit of dried jerky and a few carrots. She broke off a bit of the jerky for herself and took one carrot.
Spreading out a handkerchief on the ground, Fen lay down the rest of the food she had and said "I also have some to share" She then repacked her bag and said "If we get going early, we can make it to the village Wei Wao by noon. It's a very prosperous town and we can get more supplies there."

His stomach grumbled at the sight of food, and his mouth began to salivate as the smell of Jerky filled the air. Mmmm, the deliciousness of dried.... But he couldn't finish his thought as he had to uphold his "reputation" as a male. Gather and hunt, gather and hunt. He assured himself that he would accept the food afterwards and stepped outside.
"I'll be going out to fetch some food!" He exclaimed and made a motion to flex his arm. Really however, his stomach grumbled and deep down he scolded himself for giving up the opporutunity of enjoying a nice breakfast.
However, Fen had spoken of a nearby village and instantaneously Horyo changed his mind. He retreated inside and clapped his hands: "Actually! Breakfast sounds nice, we should save our strength and be on our way soon. I know how easily women get tired." He grinned and spread out his palms as if to beg for food.

Sho shook her head slightly at Horyo and grinned.
"Of course," she said, handing Horyo two of the apples. She gave the other two to Fen, then took a big bite out of the last one. She chewed thoughtfully and stared at Horyo and his silly begger stance. "We really should save our strength." She glanced over at Fen and pointed to a strip of the jerky.
"Do you mind if I have a piece?" She questioned.

"Of course not!" Fen said eagerly, giving them all an equal share. She giggled a bit at Horyo's behavior, but dismissed it. He was just being a guy.
However, she did agree with one thing he said-they should conserve their strength. "I know that the village of YuLen is several miles south, and they have a fair amount of stalls in the marketplace to replenish any supplies." She turned to Horyo, not able to resist a little dig "I know how easily men get lost, but it's not too far away. We women should only be a little tired." She cocked an eyebrow and grinned at him.
Turning back to the group, she said, "If that's okay with everyone of course. I don't want to force anyone to go anywhere."

Horyo took both of their offerings and returned them with a wide-grinned "thank you." He then began to eat, munching loudly and a bit ravenously. His chews made the apple pieces crunch and the jerky bits squeak and rub. Fen's comment about men getting lost brought Horyo to summon his map.
"Men don't get lost if they have a map!" He said, forgetting that he would have wandered around all day, yesterday, had he not taken her suggestion to take cover from the rain.
After finishing his meal, the growling of his stomach having ceased, he looked out at the scenery, rain still poured down and blue clouds began to brighten into gray ones.
"Well we should try to hurry, the rain is a bit lighter, but it might get worse." His tone became serious and his mind focused.

Sho glanced over at Fen and nodded.
"Sure," she said. "I haven't stopped in a village in a few days; it'll be nice to get some real food."
She rummaged through her bag for a few moments and pulled out a round straw hat. She glanced apologetically at the others as she put it on. "Sorry, I only have one." Her eyes swept from one face to the other and she asked, "Whenever you are ready to leave...."
