I actually don't have a problem with the Yue/Sokka situation, but having Kana leave the NWT becuase of her arranged marriage with Pakku was a bit much. With two negative examples of arranged marriage, there should have been at least one positive example to show that there are good sides to arranged marriage. Otherwise, it leaves viewers thinking that arranged marriage is just a 'stupid' custom (as Katara said), and that's pretty narrow thinking for such a unique & creative show.
Re: hippies - I just didn't think they fit very well in the Avatarverse. I think I would've liked gypsies better.

I would add an episode that would explore the possibility of the fire nation actually WINNING the war. It would give three perspectives,
1. The "good guys" view. Where tyranny and oppression would rule as the fire nation enslaves all he free countries in the world.
2. the "Bad guys" point of view. Where the Fire nation brings forth enlightenment to those they conquer, spreading their culture and technology.
3. Finally the point of view of a wise old spirit. He would show to the Gaang that the fire nation conquering the planet is not the "end of the world". He would point at how if the fire nation did eventually conquer the world, their reign would not last for long due to an over ambitious hierarchy, extreme distances encouraging rebellion without immediate repression, and various other boring political reasons.

Ehhhhh, I'd probably make Sokka less of an @$$ in the beginning episodes.

@ cougarwild claw: Karma for such an open minded concept! I would love it if they showed something like that. Seasons 1&2 showed things through Zuko's eyes, which helped us get some insight into the Fire Nation perspective, but we haven't seen as much of that in Season 3. I really liked seeing events from both sides, and I would love to see an episode like this. (It would also give kids a really mature view of upsets/injustices in thier own lives.)

Thank you for the compliment! Yeah I noticed the one sided perspective in season three as well... They really are lining the fire nation up as the baddies...
For every good guy like Iroh, Zuko, or Sokka's sensei, they show about a dozen baddies like oh say... Random fire nation guard 203? I understand the need for an antagonist but exploring the Grey area would be nice as well.
Also I just want someone to shake the Gaangs reslove... To reestablish what they are fighting for.
To restore balance? They are not needed for that, all empires fall eventually, and a planet wide one would fall rather quickly. Rather this cranky old spirit would constantly point out their hidden motives and bring them into light, examining and reexaming... It would be tough for the Gaang but they would be stronger for it.

I'd give Mai more humor with her dry sarcasm and broody presentation. Also some martial art hand 2 hand moves or acrobatic jumping skills to compensate her generic knife throwing pinning.
Also Toph, I'd make her drop the twinkle toes bit, it seriously got old after 4 episodes.

Good point Loverboy! I would want more character development for Toph and none of the "twinkle toes" "dunderhead" stuff.

In the Awakening I would have made Ty Lee come out. In the Headband the Kataang dance would have been longer. And in all the episodes Toph would actually have lines.

I'd make Toph be barefoot in season 3 without regards. odd, yes? but yeah. that's me for ya. I might be new, but you'll all learn soon enough that I'm partially deranged... I think... but yeah. barefoot Toph FTW. Chuck Norris, er, Toph, doesn't do anything for anyone but herself.. ~Sanaki~

I would also have changed Katara's reaction in DOBS but even though I support Kataang I just thought it could have been different.
I really hated The Great Divide and Imprisoned and I didn't love the Swamp, Serpent's Pass or Avatar day although they did have SOME good parts.
I would have taken out most of the Zuko/Mai stuff but I guess in the Boiling Rock their feelings became important.
In general it is such a great show there isn't much to complain about!

I agree; a lot of people I know have had their grandparents have arranged marriages (because most of these people's grandparents are from China, but I digress), and they still loved each other very much. I think there's a lot of pros and cons to it. It'd be cool if the show showed how the Fire Nation has suffered because of war, because even a country raging war is affected by it negatively. Oh and although I understand why Katara would blow up at Zuko since she "doesn't trust him", thinks he lied about his mom and stuff to relate to her and such, but for all times to be pig-headed and narrow-minded..>< My wanting for her to be more rational towards Zuko may be because of my Zutarian tendencies though..

I would certainly change Katara! I loved the hole bad Equus asinus blood bending scene, but why did they have to make her cry in that episode? Why do the make her cry in like every episode she is in? It gets old real fast! Also... sense I'm pretty sure this wont happen.... I want Zuko's mom and Sokka's dad to get married... I think that would be very awesome. Sorry Zutarians... but Zuko and Sokka must be brothers!!!! I would just love it! Also... Well, other then Zuko being kinda annoying before he returns home... I think it is an awesome show! I love it to peaces...
