I know it may sound like we're being paranoid about the situation but the thing is DH isn't an underground community. Being one of the bigger Avatar communities, we are under the radar of the bigwigs ie Viacom. Greg Baldwin and Sifu Kisu visit this forum as well as this place being a popular visiting spot with alternatecoppa (which by the NYCC vids I've been seeing is in now sipping champaign with the big boys now XD) and other big Avatar fans like Avatar Mom, Pooldude, etc. It's not far fetch to assume that Viacom won't notice us and if we do something that Viacom doesn't approve of the hammer will fall on us hard. If we got in trouble with Viacom, I'm not going to lie proboards would drop us without a second of hesitation. Keep in mind this forum has had problems with proboards just for having under 13 year olds as forum members and have threatened to shut us down. I know it sucks to wait a week but it's better than having the forum being shut down among other things. Cliche as it may sound it's better to be safe than sorry. well if you put it that way

what I don't understand is what they have to do with us choosing to not allow BR discussion on this forum until the dvd is officially released next week. Especially since we've taken this action with previous illegally leaked episodes. Oh ok. Yeah I have no idea about that either.

Viacom can't do crap if you discuss material. Period. America kind of has a little thing in place called "Freedom of Speech" and if someone threatens you with legal action because you talk too much (as long as you're not under a legal contract; if you sign a legal document and blab then you're in trouble) you can just wave the Constitution in their face and tell them to get lost.
This forum is fine as long as you don't allow any links to illegal material. Yeah, yeah some people take the "high road" and like their morals or whatever but I look at a DVD release of new episodes for a syndicated television show to be a spit in the face to all the fans. I know my opinion means jack and forums are run on a benevolent dictatorship system but I personally think silencing everyone who even utters a word to be the highest form of censorship.
And I think censorship itself (especially against humans) is amoral. I'm not trying to start a flame war against the admins or troll the boards; just voicing my opinion.

And I think censorship itself (especially against humans) is amoral. That would be true if we owned this forums URL/ sever space and we didn't use pro boards. Pro boards could drop us without any warning and for pretty much any reason they see fit. Its that simply you know I don't like censorship either but at the same time I like keeping the forum up. And we all know Viaccom can be very assertive when they want to be. Also as was mentioned we have members of the Avatar staff who visit and I think its best that we fallow the rules so to speak as we want them to continue to feel welcome here. And you may not feel its a worth while. But by us taking the high road here and waiting we are doing the right thing. And maybe if this site wasn't one of the top avatar sites then maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal. But right now we simply have to wait. We I pretty much repeated what Tungsten said but then again it bears repeating.

I forgot about the proboards thing. They're pretty horrible and I could imagine a little bit of corporate squeeze from one of mass media's top companies is all it takes to shut down a forum.
I'm just venting a little steam. It's really frustrating to follow a series but for whatever reason the producers feel it's necessary to alienate the fans. I'm not a big wig so I can't honestly admit to knowing what it's like working at the top but it's really, really frustrating to be at the bottom and get nothing. Following Firefly and Jericho was hard. Avatar is the straw that broke my back.
But I probably don't need to be telling you guys this as most of you are just as frustrated!

Its cool Marcus we're all right there with you. The way avatar is being handled is well extremely disappointing and frustrating to see such a great show be marketed so badly. Its sad that nick hasn't realized what they have on there hands. But this would the same thing most of us have been saying for a very long time.

Yeah it's frustrating and people occassionally give you lip but it comes with the terriroty. I don't blame any of you guys for the current reaction. Honestly the scheduling on this whole thing is not making my job any easier. Do you think PE likes grinding up disobediant dolphins and drinking them? >_> Well actually she does . . . . but do you think I enjoy watching PE grind up disobediant dolphins? XD
The main thing we prevent is sharing the links but at the same time if we discuss illegal linked episodes it gives the impression that we are sharing and or endorsing the sharing of links. It sounds crazy but Viacom logic could potentially go that way. I don't want our forum to go down like an Avatar fan made music video on youtube. The stakes are bigger here and we just want to prevent harm in the greater scheme of things.

XD It's not that I *like* it, but somebody has to do it! Yes, I'm that selfless, I'm willing to take one for the team. Unlike you, Tungsten, who's perfectly happy to watch others toil away, grinding away disobedient dolphins, and then having to drink them. Seriously, they taste like a cross between fish and people. Sorta like what I imagine mermaids would taste like. Do. Not. Want! But no, you enjoy your mocha frappucino while I do all the hard work, Mr. Admin. ...hack...
