Well, they can pitch it to a different channel. Maybe CN or WB. Nick is not the end of the world. Are you sure about that? Nick probably owns most of the rights to the franchise - couldn't they put the smack down on M&B if they tried to go elsewhere with this mysterious second arc?

We hope and pray that Nick gets its head out of its you-know-what, and if they don't, we all make really generic "Nick is sooooo dumb" comments until our rage subsides.

^^What's the difference between reincarnation and incarnation? Basically... Reincarnation = same soul, different body Incarnation = new/different soul, new body Inside the Avatar world sense, the Avatar would be the reincarnation of the Avatar spirit. Anyways, if M&B does start a new Avatar series with new characters, it could either be another hit or a miss. If M&B did an Iroh spin-off adventure, it sounds nice to know what happened with him for some people, but it just doesn't feel the same without the Aang gang. I guess I keep saying it but old attachments towards certain characters are hard to break for some.

I hear ya , I remember back when I was a kid and I used to like Lion King a lot, it wasn't the same when they Timon & Pumbaa aired on TV. It focused on Timon & Pumbaa, Hence the title, so therefore it didn't show the main characters like Simba. So after the first episode of it and a few after, I wasn't interested. I hope the New Avatar Series is good as the current series but it would be quite a bummer if the Aang Gaang is not there . As they say, the original is always the best.

I admint I didn't think about that. mmm... what now? Viacom owns a million channels, including the Sci Fi network. While Avatar can't really be classified as Sci Fi, often they do straight up fantasy sometimes too. When Comedy Central cancelled Mystery Science Theater 3000 Sci Fi Channel picked it up. Unfortunately they don't own the Cartoon Network where Avatar might be a happier fit. I'm trying to think of all the channels Viacom owns but many are escaping me. CBS and all it's affiliates of course. All the MTV networks as well as VH1. Possibly Bravo. Anyway, it's not hopeless just because Nick might not want to put it back on. There's precedent for a sister network picking something up if they think the fans will follow it. EDIT: Here's a list of Viacom's TV properties -- Comedy Central, Logo, BET, Spike, TV Land, Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon, Noggin, The N, Nick Jr., TEENick, MTV, VH1, MTV2, CMT, MHD It's from Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt. It doesn't list the Sci Fi channel and I was pretty sure that was Viacom owned, but now I'm thinking it's Time-Warner. Viacom actually split into two companies, one named CBS Corp. and that's where a good opportunity for Avatar might lie. CBS and CW (merged UPN and WB) are good options for a future Avatar series. Have I lifted any spirits? I didn't think so.

I was under the impression that Viacom held the franchising rights for Avatar, not the broadcasting rights. (Now that I think about it, I don't know why exactly I had that impression. Ah well.)

The shipping section of the interview seems carefully worded to go either way. Don't bother analyzing. take this interview alone, and you might have some sort of arguement... take it together with what they have said in the past though... M&Bs stance on Zutara: "we were aware of it, and were glad people get into the romance, but... people see what they want to see" M&Bs stance on Kataang: "aang-katara, that romance, it was planned from the beginning, in the DNA of the show from the start." anyways, that this new spin off was mentioned as an "incarnation" instead of a "reincarnation" increases the Idea that it will be a spin-off about Iroh. ;D

That was informative, mahatista, but yeah, not very spirit-lifting.

I'd rather it not be a spin off about Iroh. I think there should be kids/teens as the main focus. Maybe it could be a spin off about when Iroh and Ozai were kids and we could see some of the other older characters. IMO, any spin off should have some connection to this story line more than just being in the Avatar world. Like if it was the next Avatar, Aang would visit as Roku did and show about some of his life (probably from after the war is over so we'd even get to see what happens to everyone). So I think the characters we all know and love should all make brief cameos in the spin off, but not be central characters, unless it was a prequel from the Iroh/Ozai childhood days. @maha - I didn't even think of Avatar airing on a different channel. That'd be such a great opportunity.

^I agree. I just wouldn't be as interested in the new characters if they didn't interact with the old ones. I like bending, but I'm not watching the show for the Avatarverse, I'm watching it because I like the characters and think their interesting. Taking that away takes the interest away for me.
And I would love it if they played it on some network like Cartoon Network. They have a lot more action cartoons, so I honestly think they would know how to handle a show like it better, even if they only showed reruns.

Just FYI, but a lot of romances that are DNAs of certain shows don't end up being the final romance. My example of a series that is that way, Smallville. My example of a cartoons that is that way The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Digimon.

Most shows aren't planned out the way Avatar has been though.
