Yea but isn't it strange that they haven't mentioned her at all or her death? I mean we've seen numerous flashbacks and scenes full of Iroh-deppression over Lu-Ten but none of her Mrs.Iroh whoever she is

Not really. M&B seem to like building things up. Tey like to keep us speculating until we find out we're dead wrong about what we're speculating about.

EDIT: i cant belive this site has evaded my intrest for so long. iroh.org/check it out. I also missed one of Iroh's better quotes, partially because it was in avatar day "You must never give in to despair. Allow yourself to slip down that road, and you surrender to your lowest instincts. In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength."

I knew it would be near impossible to keep this thread up, the charcter boards have never been too popular, and forums have been dead without new episodes to discuss. and even the old episodes weve all seen that have jucy Iroh things to discuss, we cant discuss it because the powers that be have deemed them to be spoilers. But now i have an excuse to bring this thread back from the depths of page 2. Please go vote for Iroh in the hottest avatar man thread. Iroh has always been mentally attractive. Wise, caring, loving, funny, empathetic, compassionate, passionate... a charmer and pimp in every sense of the word. but now, he is physically hunky as well. others in links because I dont want to take up too much space: booter-freak.deviantart.com/art/How-Iroh-Escaped-Prison-67279175screenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/304/238.jpgscreenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/304/237.jpgcursedgnomes.deviantart.com/art/You-Look-Cold-72463433screenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/304/192.jpgcallmepo.deviantart.com/art/Uncle-Iroh-representin-68238757elthegeneral.deviantart.com/art/Buff-Iroh-69861715common! lets give Ozi a run for his money. calling all Iroh fangirls! (and guys. any vote for Iroh is a vote well spent)

^ wonder how many iroh fangirls there are?
Iroh may be hunky now but he's still old and bald and grey and short..... I think he'll get some sympthy votes on the hottest man thread but He's never gonna be able to compete with the toned chizzeled adonis abs of Ozai and Hakoda

Iroh is definitely worth voting for on the other thread--fans of his should go and vote for him! ( Tho i must admit i personally found that i had to give my vote to the other son of Azulon, as far as "hotness" goes... *hides* I may be a bit strange in that I love both of the brothers...in different ways...) And i suppose i'm not doing a very good job of promoting Iroh on the voting thread... So i'll leave that to others, i guess. But anyway, come on, my fellow Iroh fans! Let's see if we can keep this thread alive for a bit.

Iroh will always be #1 on my adorable old man list! I just love him, he's so wise, caring, strong, patient, and calm. He's a big teddy bear! Really, I honestly believe that everyone needs an Uncle Iroh in their life!

I can definitely second that! It's rare to find someone as kind and wise and generally sweet as Iroh, and who has such a great sense of fun and humor as well! ^-^

Someone just PMed me a great question about Iroh. so, ill take this opportunity to bump this thread. for reference: screenshots.avatarspiritmedia.net/112/084.jpgwww.livevideo.com/video/krisshady3000/8EDC281FC582475A885D573A5182C149/avatar-book-1-water-episode-12.aspx4:30 No, I belive that that was not the first time he redirected lightening, that expression was mainly done for comedic reasons, as we see the static in his hair. and the dramatic music stopping. after the lightening was struck. That scene shows both a image of power and tranquility, and comedy. which is the direction M&B have been taking Iroh. both his mastery of the technique in "the storm" and his knowledge and confidence in how he explained the technique in " Bitter Work" suggest that he has had experence with lightening before. however, you do bring up an excellent point. how long agao did Iroh first master lightening redirection? and whom did he first use it against? we know that he learned the technique by studying the water benders, so it was likely after his self-imposed exile. however, as we saw in "the storm", Iroh seemed to either sense exactly where the lightening would strike before it appeared, or he acted as a human conductor and was able to direct the lightening towards himself without actually toughing it. this leads me to belive that Iroh has never actually had to use this ability against an actual person, that he learned lightening redirection through actual lightening. perhaps he once stood atop a cliff, midst a raging storm, exactly as zuko did. Only he was able to do it calmly, and call the lightening to him, so that he might become one with it. EDIT: I am watching "Jhon Adams" right now. and its struck me just how much I love that they modeled Iroh's hair after Benjamin Franklin's

Wow. Thanks for the answer, and links. *Karmas* I agree with your explanation. If Iroh had never redirected lightening before, it was a pretty dangerous time to attempt it just for kicks. His stance before his was hit seemed pretty confident; like he knew what he was doing, so it probably wasn't his first time.
If Iroh is able to draw the lightening towards him, that would make redirecting lightening more than a simple defensive manuever, and might even show a higher degree of control than simply creating it. After all, Ozai and Azula are shown shooting lightning like you would shoot a bullet from a gun. Once the lightning is created, they can only release it and hope it hits it's target. But if Iroh can both redirect and attract lightening, it may mean that he could also change the course of lightening he's created, making it easier to hit a moving target. That would pwn. But then, Iroh pwns anyway...

I dont belive so. in "Bitter Work" Iroh specifically said "remember, once you release the energy, you do not control it, you are simply its humble guide."
this means that Iroh can guide the energy inside his body or "ocean of chi". and it appears that he can even sync the energy in his own body so that he actually "guides" the lightening towards himself.
but he can not direct the lightening anywhere he wants, he can not control it independently, only how it reacts to his pressence.
... that is unless a sneaky little 8itch pulls a sneak attack against him. A POX ON AZULA! "She is crazy, and needs to go down"

Iroh is the ultimate sage. He balances out the Zhaos and Ozais of the Fire Nation world. He is all-knowing father, ultra-wise counselor while still retaining a measured degree of flawed humanity.

yes, true words deserving of karma... will have to wait for it though. (except i think you meant to say "humanity")
also, his badassery.
anyways, has anybody here read "Shogun"?
ToraNaga (clearly horrible spelling, it was an audio-book) really reminds me of Iroh...

Can we say 'bada$$ery' on this board? lol Sorry, I'm kind of used to the 'Stepford Wives' environment of another fan site forum. Yay, I'm worthy of Karma! But seriously I do feel emphatically that Iroh provides the perfect 'elder sage' balance in the Avatar world.
