Expecting some sort of reaction but surprised to be thrown, Fenny fell unceremoniously, though managed to roll as she hit the ground so she wouldn't land face first in the sand. She listened to Matsu's explanation of how it was done, then got up and dusted the sand off of herself, not the least bit humiliated. "I think I get you."

Matsu dusted himself lightly off with the sand. "If you're attacked with earthbending too, the most you can do is get out of the way, its hard to block. ANywa, back on track." He carefully got into position. "I'm going to punch at you, and I'll go slow, I want you to do the exact thing I did." With that Matsu aimed a punch at her and went with it, but very slow.

As Matsu came toward her, Fenny followed his directions move by move, grabbing his forearm and pressed her shoulder into his sternum. But when it came time to flip him... she didn't have enough momentum. When he had come at her slowly, she had responded slowly, and now she realized this was a mistake. He was much too big for her to lift by sheer force, she had needed the speed to be able to flip him. Frowning, Fenny was uncertain what to do next.

Matsu grinned as he planted his feet in the ground, now he was just leaning against her slightly, and she had a hold of his arm. He pulled his arm from her grasp. "Good try, but...not fast enough." He shook his arm and looked at the sun, it was almost completly dark. He dug a hole in the sand with his foot and then aimed at the hole. There was a burst of fire and then the hole was filled with it, like a small lamp.

"I noticed."Fenny scowled, more at her own failure than anything else. "You're much too big for me to lift by sheer force. Can we try again? At normal speed?"

Matsu nodded. "Okay, but the key to this is getting me off balance, you're to small to flip me otherwise." Matsu swung at her again, this time going at a normal pace.

This time, Fenny was better prepared for what to expect. Once she grabbed his forearm and hit him with her shoulder, she put her body weight into it, taking a stance that cut off his footing. Fenny frowned quickly: it wasn't going to be enough, she needed her momentum to outweigh his balance. She kicked out her footing a little farther in an attempt to take Matsu's foot out from beneath him. If she could manage that, she knew she could flip him easily.

And it worked, Matsu found himself falling over her and he landed roughly on his back in front of her. He let out a loud groan as pain ripped through his body. He winced and rolled to his side, gripping at his shoulder. "Enough...for tonight..please." He murmured, with another wince.

Suddenly the weight of Matsu was gone. Fenny only just remembered to let go as he fell, nearly falling with him in her surprise. She did it? She did it! But Fenny's rejoicing was cut short by Matsu's groan of pain. She turned around to watch him with some concern. "Are you alright?"

Saiki shifted a bit to make more room for Abeni, but the same question ran in her mind over and over again. What am I going to do? She had expected to find some sort of work in the city, and survive off of whatever small salary she earned. Now she had to worry about taking care of Abeni too. She's not even mine, her mind protested. Just some random kid who ended up on our sandsailor. Despite this, she still felt she had to take care of her, and she didn't have the faintest idea how.

"Not really." He screwed his eyes shut and slowly got up, extinguishing the fire in the sand as he did. "I think, we should probably go to bed. We're going to enter the city in full daylight...we need to get used to a normal sleep schedule again."
Abeni clenched onto Saiki's clothes tighter. Her seven year old mind was working over time, mostly at what terrifying things would happen to Geming. Then she realized she was alone with TWO firebenders now. Sure Saiki might be strong, but against the two firebenders? Abeni was afraid she hardly stood a chance. On top of it, Abeni couldn't even bend to help Saiki out. Now she couldn't sleep, and she stared out at the horizon glassy eyed. She could remember talk about Earth Kingdom soldiers randomly arresting sandbenders. She didn't know that the sandbenders were actually arrested for theft and a variety of other illegal actions, but she knew that they always came back differnt. They told horrible things, about how there was no sand or any earth of any kind around. Abeni shuttered. Poor Geming...

Fenny nodded. Sleep did make sense. She didn't really think she could get to sleep though; she still had too much adrenaline from all that had transpired that afternoon, and not knowing what she had done all that morning made her feel awkward and uncomfortable. Still, she had forced Matsu to teach her while he was injured, so the least she could do is be his guard until they got into the city. Separating did not seem like a good idea right now: anyone of other members of the caravan could be a sympathizer with Gemming's cause.

Noa was spread out on his stomach, his body loose as putty. But he tensed and with sleepy eyes lit up when he thought he heard “I love you.”
“What?” He lifted himself by his elbows and twisted back, looking at Hati. His face was struck between aspiration and skepticism. He wasn’t sure if she actually said it; he was actually daydreaming of her during the massage.

Matsu walked with her quietly until they got to the tent. "I'm sorry for what happend.....I really...don't remember a lot..just the fight." He sighed and practically collapsed when they got into the tent.
Hati froze, her hands positioned halfway over his shoulder. Did she really say I love you, OUTLOUD? Her eyes flickered around the tent, oh no, how could she get out of this? She didn't mean to tell him she loved him, it just sort of came out. How can you take back something like that? "I.." She stammered, but then ultimatly failed, she dropped her hands and just stared down at him.

Noa's eyes locked on Hati observing her every gesture. Her reaction was...unfamiliar? Was Hati actually left without giving a simple poky remark. "You did..." he didn't even finish his sentence. Turning over, he slid his arms around her and without wasting another breath, kissed her. The kiss, the moment wasn't like any moment before. To Noa it was a tremendous relief, he cradled her firmly in his embrace.
