Cool spider! I love spiders, I always go out in my backyard to see them. I used to have a spider almost that size in my yard with different coloring. It was a golden silk spider (also known as the banana spider) and it had a huge web (over 1 meter long!). But then it died. . . The other spiders in my yard are crab spiders. I love playing with their webs, but they find it bothersome! ;D And GranGran, don't touch the spider. IT MIGHT BE VENOMOUS!!! But if you really want to touch it for some odd reason, Google spiders with those colors native to your area.

I am so not touching any spiders! We have Black Widows, Brown Recluse and they are bad news! I am definitly not touching something that is that big and so obvious... It just screams at you "LOOK AT ME!!!" (I wouldn't keep Tarantulas as pets either...)

Well the huge spider in my yard wasn't poisonous. Unless your allergic to spider bites. . . rofl. I have never met anyone allergic to spiders.

Brown Recluse spiders? *shiver*
Something interesting I never thought about: I took a wilderness EMT course a couple of years ago and the instructor said, "ALL spiders have a poisonous bite" He went on to say that yes, most spiders we've come across cannot physically bite us, but it still makes you think about what we haven't "tried" yet. That spider's colors are definitely screaming "I'm not tasty or pleasant, so stay away from me".

I guess spider bites are not as prevalent as bee stings... I got bit by a spider once and it left a silver dollar size itchy spot on my arm. A dose of effervecent calcium surprisingly enough made it go away quickly, but looking back I'd venture a guess it was similar to an allergic reaction...
