I didn't see Kiprusoff's name on any of the agent lists on NHL.com... Did I miss it somewhere?

Kipper? Do you mean Kiprusoff or someone else? Yea I meant Kiprusoff, his contract ends after this year. I think it would be best for the flames to sign him now. I mean look at all the ridicules new contracts that were handed out today. Mathieu Schneider two years 10 million dollars at 38 years of age. Gomez signs a 7 year contract; while Briere gets an 8 year paying 10 mil in the first. I think Joe's new contract is a steal... good job DW (Doug Wilson ). More news: * Hannan signs with Avs. - linkGood luck Scott... thanks for mentoring Pickles. * Scott Niedermayer retiring - linkAs an NHL fan this stinks as a Shark fan

Ah, okay. Yeah, it would be best. We don't want a repeat of the Briere/Drury thing. We had a chance to resign both earlier this season, but DR [Darcy Regier] chose not to, the stupid jerk [<- for lack of a better word.]

I don't know what the Buffalo GM is doing. Last year was the same too, apparently Briere wanted a multi-year deal at 5 million a year. Instead the Buffalo GM took Briere to arbitration and lost. They should have just sign Briere last year then none of this would have happen. Also they lost Mckee, who is only making 4 million . Not to make Sabre fans feeling any worse but I just read a horrible rumor... Yashin to Buffalo , hopefully that won't happen. More news: Smyth signs with Avs - sourcePoor Islanders and Oiler fans . Kariya signs with Blues for 3 years - sourcePens sign Petr Sykora - waiting for link Terrible.... they need a defenseman Oilers sign Nylander - sourceWell so far I think the Biggest winners today are the Rangers (though they could use a d-man) and the Avs. Biggest losers the Sabres, Islanders, and Devils all three lost two key players to free acency.

But for some reason, it seems that the NY Rangers have always had problems with getting all their talent to actually work well together.

What about the Flyers as being a loser? I seriously think the Briere deal is rather ridiculous. TOTAL overpayment along with a no movement clause? Are they nuts? Briere is NOT better than J. Thornton and he isn't even worth the contract that he just signed with the Flyers. The Flyers also lost Pitkanen, one of their most promising young defenseman. Joffery Lupul? uh... seriously... Well, it seems like some cup contending teams have not done very much on the first day of FA. Teams like Buffalo and NJ have lost so much that I think it might be pretty darn lucky if they are able to make it to the playoffs. I was pretty sure that LA might be signing someone on the first day, but it seems like their waiting. Hmm... Teams like Nashville doesn't seem to want to pursue signing FA, at least the really sought after ones. Perhaps they are trying to relieve cap space because they aren't making that much money? I'm incredibly happy with the sharks. They gave J. Thornton an extension for $7+ million. Wow. Talk about signing an elite player for a bargain. ^^ Joe Thornton rocks!

They can both find a way to make the playoffs, I guarantee it. I mean, yeah, we lost our co-captains and Jersey took some major hits, but there will be better players to come along. I can think of anywhere from three to five Rochester Amreican (AHL) that would be more than willing to play for the Sabres. *Cough*DrewStafford*Cough* But seriously, one or two guys don't make a team, I would be surprised if the Flyers make the playoffs, even with Briere. Capitals sign free agent center Nylander to 4-year dealCanadiens sign Hamrlik to 4-year dealBlackhawks sign free agent center Robert LangAtlanta signs free agent D Ken KleeLos Angeles Kings sign Handzus, Nagy, Calder and PreissingNew Jersey Devils sign winger Dainius Zubrus to six-year contractEdmonton Oilers sign free-agent goalie Mathieu Garon to a two-year contractDucks sign Brad May to 2-year contractPredators sign goaltender Mason to 2-year, $6M extension

I don't know if some kids from the AHL can step in right away and make a difference. Kids like Crosby, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stall, Stastny, Vlasic, and I can't think of any other young d-men are a dime in a dozen. That why when they do appear everyone makes a giant fuss over them. I think the Flyers are a guarantee lock to make the playoffs unless Biron becomes a bust. On paper the Flyers have the best defense in the Atlantic and defense wins championships, go ask the Ducks. No only that this past year they loaded up on young defensive prospect head line by Ryan Parent. They re-tool themselves into a playoff team and also restock that cupboards with great prospects. This trades bothers me, Pitkanen a stud and reminds me of Sergei Zubov. Lupal is a floating no back checking loser . I was never a fan of this kid, I remember being completely shock that the Oilers got Smid and Lupal for Pronger. I mean come on... why didn't they get GetsLOL or The Ferry? Lowe should have just told the Ducks to keep their picks and give him Perry or Getslaf .

i'm in chicago so our hockey hasn't been great in awhile, especially since our owner doesn't televize home games, but we got some good young talent this year that did well in first preseason practice so i hope the blackhawks ccan win 20 games next season
