Their are good basketball players now...but there is no one playing now that is even on Jordan's level...the rings, the titles, the way he makes it all look easy...

Tennis- Roger Federer hands down except on clay where Nadal has him beat Basketball- LeBron James at the moment. i don't think he has completly dominated the game, but single handedly bringing that team to the NBA finals was pretty impressive

Basketball is still Jordan. The recent trend is that a good team can beat a single awesome player (see the current NBA finals for a text book example). Eh, can't really call it a recent trend. The Bulls in the 90's, the Celtics in the 80's, and the Lakers in, uh... the last three decades were all-round good teams, rather than a single star and a supporting cast. For soccer/football, Mia Hamm has always amazed me ~ twice a World Cup winner (the whole team was amazing, but Mia's my favorite), twice Olympic gold, and chosen as one of the best players ever by Pelé himself. But my favorite stat is that she's scored more goals in international matches than any footballer ever, male or female. ;D But you know the great thing about both Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm? They still maintain ties to their alma mater - the University of North Carolina! ;D But yes, the Great One (#99) is also definitely one of the most influential athletes.

Dielis and Ceulemans were pure legends in the Carom world, and they had a big influence on modern Carom Billards.

David Beckham all the way. why beckham? Because he's going to play for LA galaxy? That guy is overrated. He has an accurate cross and shot, but there are so many things on which he fails. Technique, stamina, physics etc.

Wow, that's amazing athleticism there. To me, I think that there are so many great athletes out there, it's hard to choose one. I like Roger Federer, Michael Jordan, and Lance Armstrong. I also like the comeback James Blake made but I don't think he's that influential.
