Any Beatles fans around? I used to hate them, but then I really started to get into their music about three years ago. I'm just blown away by the sheer creativity they managed to create in such a short amount of time. Most bands today can barely release three studio albums before they break up, and the Beatles released around ten. White Album's my favorite, and Lennon and Harrison tie for coolest Beatle. So...what do you guys think?

Yah, I'm a long time fan. I kind of liked them in High School (NO, it was years and years after they broke up, I'm not that old! ) then I took a music study class where we studied them, and it blew me away. The phases of music they went through, the creativity, and the whole saga. My favorite songs by them: Almost all of them. I even like the songs that make some "purists" shudder, like When I'm 64, Obla-di Obla-Dah, Rocky Racoon, etc.

LOL! I think we old people will be alone on this one.
What a treat it was when w actually got to sing in music class: Help and When I'm 64 were among the staples!
I think even we can't quiet fathom the evolution of music they brought us We just missed it by a few years!

I don't think this is just an old ppl's band. Anyone who has a real musical appreciation probably appreciates what The Beatles have done for rock and roll.

The good as the bad! I think They where the first group imprisoned by their fame, like no one before and not many after! But still, not having known music without Beatles....like imagining Rock 'n Roll with out the swinging hip! (Just listened to 'Walking in Memphis' with only the Elvis Slide show still up on Youtube...) We sounded very horrible I am sure, not only yelping Help, but with the rest as well. We just enjoyed it!

I don't know why "purists" would complain about Ob La Di, Ob La Da or Rocky Raccoon. The reason the Beatles were so great was because they kept experimenting with different styles, like the honky tonk of Rocky Raccoon or the reggae/honky tonk of Ob La Di.

I just had friends that owned every album (yes, album), who would laugh at me for playing those songs. I guess every fan base needs it's snobs. Just like me hating the new Star Wars movies.
I just remembered (and googled) "backmasking" for beatles songs. Have either of you listened to the LP's backwards? We listened to a bunch one night when we were really bored and heard some interesting stuff. =x

Nope, never tried. What'd you hear? More "Paul is Dead OMGZ!" stuff? And if your friends really do own every Beatles album, then I'm sorry to say that they own a significant amount of crap, because "Please Please Me" has about three good songs on it and "Beatles for Sale" has perhaps two. I own eight of the Beatles studio albums, the only ones I don't own are Help!, Let it Be, Beatles for Sale, and Magical Mystery Tour(which I'm currently looking for). Really, there best stuff was from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road, so I don't know why your friends bother to buy their early stuff. It's not worth it in my opinion.
Some fans really despise Paul McCartney(I'm not a big fan) and absolutely refuse to listen to anything besides Lennon's stuff, and sometimes Harrison's if they're feeling generous, despite the fact that "Let it Be" and Eleanor Rigby are incredible songs. Ask your friends why they don't like the songs, I'd be interested to hear. One of my friends is a huge Nirvana fan, but sometimes rants against "Nevermind" because the production was so slick and Cobain didn't like it, despite the fact that Cobain hired the producer himself.

Key word: had friends. This was awhile ago, in a different state. I don't talk to those guys very much anymore =/ The albums the one guy owned filled up an entire shelf. I don't know if he owned every single one, but it sure looked like it.
We heard some stuff about Paul, yah. But there were other things there like odd words, and general wierdness. Can't remember much, it's been years.
I happen to like Let it Be and Eleanor Rigby too.

I like songs like Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, When I'm 64, Nowhere Man, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, and Eleanor Rigby, myself. They had other songs that I like, but I can't very well think of them right now.

I used to like the Beatles alot more than i do now, but i still think theyre a great band and i love their music. Same here, I got kind of wore out on them. I don't listen regularly anymore, it's just a pleasant surprise when I hear one of their songs now. Although I am still a "fan", I guess. Yesterday must have been "Beatles day" on XM radio. Since they took my 80's and 90's alternative stations off XM/AOL radio (how I listen at work), I've been forced to listen to "Top Tracks" and for some reason, every third song or so was a Beatles song. PS: See grangran, I was right =)

<3 the Beatles. It's not a childhood without growing up on the Beatles.
Anyway, for the Cirque De Solei the producer of the Beatles albums (I think it was producer) remixed all the Beatles songs and added clips of other songs to some. They made a new album/CD from it and I was wondering if anyone got their hands on it.
