well, soem characters got better, and others got the gimp. and yeah, there is a 3rd tier. all normal (Beorc) units have it, and they get (a) more skill capabilities (I Think 60 instead of 30) (b)a special ability, and (c) higher stats. The Laguz can go to level 40, and they get a special ability at level 30 with a Satori Sign (and there's a bazillion of those). the only Beorc characters that do not follow the 3-tier system are Elencia, Sanaki, Volke, and I think a few others that are of their own class. anyways, here's the list of the classes, and their special abilities. Myrmidon-->Swordmaster-->Trueblade [Astra] (allows 5 consecutive attacks) Fighter-->Warrior-->Reaver [Colossus] (multiplies damage by 3 times unit's strength) Soldier-->Halberdier-->Sentinel [Impale] (multiplies damage by 4) Mage-->Sage-->Arch Sage [Flare] (nullifys resistance and recovers damage given) Priest-->Bishop-->Saint [Corona] (nullifies resistance and mutiplies damage by 2*) Knight-->Paladin-->Gold/Silver Knight [Sol] (multiplies damage by 3 and recovers damage given] Armored-->General-->Marshall [Luna] (nullifies defense and multiplies damage by I think 4 or 5) Thief-->Rouge-->Whisper [Bane] (incapacitates with a single stroke [drops HP to 1]) Wyrmrider-->Dragonmaster-->Dragonlord [Stun] (disables enemy after doing 3x the damage**] I forgot what the Laguz abilities were since you don't see them too often. *This one might not be right **I forgot the ranks for the Pegasus knights, but their special ability is the same as the dragon riders' one. so yeah, that's how it stands for the most part. ~Iroh~ Oh. Sweet. But these Satori Signs. Are they just for the Laguz to get special abilities? Or do they allow second tier characters to go third tier? Or is it just like Path of Radiance and you can upgrade classes by using an item or gaining another 100 XP at 20th level?

well, the Satori signs are only for the laguz, and isnce they don't promote, they're just for special abilities. Master Seals and MAster Crowns are for tier 1 and tier 2 beorc respectively, and they do promote you ~Iroh~

This is the third time I've asked, so is it like Path of Radiance and you can just gain another 100 XP at level 20, or do you absolutely need those items?

(sorry bout that) it's like Path of Radiance. promotoing is just like going from level 19 to level 20. jsut get 100 EXP at level 20 and you'll promote.
I always end up with thousands of those bloody master crowns 'coz I usually don't use them ~Katara~

Do you get enough of them to promote almost all of your beorc units? And is the game long enough to train everybody to 20/20/20 and 40 for your laguz? Or is the Bonus Exp necessary again?

well, I believe it might be possible... but you get some really powerful characters sometimes that are best off not being used if you want to train people up that high...
me, I never bothered trying to max everyone out... I just made it so everyone could fight decently, trained certain units especially hard and took them with me on the endgame.
there are plenty of Master crowns/Satori signs though... and any characters that might not be able to get one due to limits of numbers get promoted easily manually anyways... =P
the notorious problem with the game is the group called the Dawn Brigade... they are all underleveled, (and also where you get a lot of your overpowered units that have virtually maxed out anyways) so you have to work especially ahrd with them...
other than them though, your other characters should do fine. ~Iroh~

Well, I'm going to be coming into some money sometime in the next few months, I can feel it, and I've decided that the first game I'm going to buy is going to be Radiant Dawn, so I just wonderend what I'm in for when I do get it, you know?

yeah... perfectly understandable... oh, and don't listen to the reviews of the game...
they say it sucks because of a "laughable plot, not too graphically improved, and mercilessly difficult"
I didn't see anything wrong with the plot I don't give jack squat about graphics as loing as the game I play is fun and doesn't have glitches I like a good challenge... it's not THAT difficult.
but yeah, I totally loved that game. if you have any more questions about it feel free to ask.

I still want to play it, though. Which reminds me, I need to get hopping on my legit file of Path of Radiance so I'm done with it in time.

yeah... I heard about it, but I thought the game looked fun anyways (and I haven't played path of Radiance yet, so if you want to shoot me, you can. =3 )so I bought it. I was new to the Fire Emblem experience, but caught on quickly and then I thoroughly enjoyed the game. ~Katara~

I could go into the rant that instantaneously formed, but I'm not going to. All I'm going to say is that Path of Radiance is the first game and Radiant Dawn will likely make A LOT more sense when you do play Path of Radiance, being that Radiant Dawn is a direct sequel and all.

I knew it was/know it is, and I understand that it has a lot of info that would make RD make more sense... which was why I read the storyline as I was out of money by then.
but yeah... it's on my wish list, so don't worry.
oh, and on a side note, all playable characters from Path of Radiance except Largo make a return. (and of course, there are a bunch of new ones too) ~Toph~

I just had a rant about why you should have tried to get Path of Radiance first, but it's not my place to tell people which games they should play and when. I can suggest such a thing, though. And I usually do suggest things be done in a certain order if asked.

ah... alright then. well, I'm notorious for doing things out of order, so this was nothing new. and since I didn't own a gamecube, I had only vaguely heard of path of radiance. I didn't know they were connected until after I had bought Radiant Dawn, so I was like "oh. crud. =P"
but yeah, of course you can suggest things. I'm always open for a suggestion about something if it interests me. ~Iroh~
