Oh, I know! It's definitely a PITA, if ya know what I mean. My husband *just* got that achievement, and I swear it took a week of him playing through it four times a night to do it. It's the time multiplier that really kicked our butts - we couldn't do any better than 1.5, and that was leaving him in the 13k to 14k range at the end of the level. One of these days we want to actually get through it with better than the 1.5 multiplier (since that looks like the only way I'll actually ever get that darn achievement!).

wow.
I don't feel so bad now, because you all are like the campaign experts!
We took a little break from Halo 3 to grill some steaks and hang out on the deck (because it's 70 degrees here, supposed to be 40 tomorrow!). I am currently sitting at 12K, and we are ready to head into that ending part with the dam, where you can really rack up some points. If you are wondering why I am saying "we", it's because I am dragging my daughter along, ROFL. Yah, I am a terrible father. =x
I will let you know how it goes from there.
Update:
I just finished with 18K and got it! =D
I guess the trick is to charge ahead and get every kill you can, with someone following you (not shooting much), then when you break 15K, have them charge in and fight the battles so you don't die.
We went ahead into the next one, "crow's nest" and I got 14,095. >_>

Congrats! Yep, I think the best strategy is just plowing on through it. And I think it's cool that you play Halo 3 with your daughter! Hey, I started playing video games at a young age and I turned out just fine! I... think.

For the campaign achievements I did them with 3-4 skulls (plus cowbell grunt b-day and iwhbyd) on normal and got them pretty easily.

Hmmm...
Maybe that's my problem, I should turn it down from Heroic, and turn on 1 more gold skull (I currently have 2 on). I'll try that for crow's nest.

Ok, since this poor thread hasn't had any love since last year , I figured I'd bump it up to say that the theory of getting achievements mentioned on the previous page worked! And worked beautifully for me. We put the difficulty setting on normal, then turned on all the skulls we could (including no enemy radar), and blew through the levels, and - I knocked out four achievements in one night! Awesome.

Well,I've just started Halo 3 campaign, and I need help with killing that Scarab. The easiest thing to do is: Go way up to the catwalk area in the direct opposite direction of where the Scarab ends up. There are some soldiers loitering around there. There are also two missile pod turrets. I believe these are the only ones in the game. They are missile.pod.turrets! You sort of have to position yourself to end up there right after you destroy the anti-aircraft wraith(s). When they start talking about something big coming in, just start firing like mad. There is a spot on the back of the Scarab that the pod can lock on to. Make sure you are hitting that spot and keep firing even if you see some armor come off of it. You can destroy the thing before it even has a chance to fire... at all.
