I wasn't a huge fan of fruit basket, granted I only watched the anime but still it just lacked something I couldn't quite put my finger on. . . . .

It was way too frickin long?....lol Nah, I like the series (particularly the backstory), but the romance part was lacking imo. I'll check out this new manga when I can....I hope it won't be too long this time around.

Fruits basket only has 21 volumes and 26 episodes for the anime. And Tungsten watch Furuba?

Looks cool.
Uh, Fruits Basket has 23 volumes, not 21. I hated the Anime, it left out so much.

*karma* for you, Waterfire. I already knew about this, but forgot to make a thread.
I've seen the first chapter (RAW) and read the translation. It's pretty good! I adore Takaya-sensei's artwork, so I will read this all the way through. The main character's friend looks like Hana-chan! XD

I liked Furuba until they dropped the humor and just had pure angst. (Around the 9th volume, anything past the 11th I refuse to read. Yes, the 15th one was funny, but.. still..) And you couldn't tell the characters apart. I actually liked the anime, but it went soooooooooooooo slowly.
This series looks... okay.... I might just get it for the art style, looks impressive in that category.

^ The first few volumes are a nice balance between drama and comedy. After the 11th, things get more angsty-dramatic. In my opinion, from the 12th volume on, the series sucked. Some people preferred it from the 12th on. I gave up on it after the 15th.
Some people might say it's awesome. It's just one of those you'll have to decide for yourself.

I loved Fruits Basket even when it got dark (not much comedy) around volume 12. It is what makes it different from other shojo. It's like it's not your typical comedy-romance. It's people opinion whether they like it or not, but to stop reading it altogether? That's a shame. It even ended wonderfully and some comedy did come back towards the end.
