So as the title states, how do you find about new anime? Personally, I have 2 methods. 1) If i'm looking for brand spanking new series out of Japan I consult the www.anidb.net 's anime calender (link below to last month). It shows what all new shows that are coming out. anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=latestanimes&last.anime.month=4&last.anime.year=2007As a general rule of thumb if the anime has a tmp rating at or above 8 it's generally a sure fire above standard anime (example Romeo x Juliet is rated at 8.24). If an anime is ranked in the 7's it's a gamble, typically these are animes that are a decent watch if you like the genre being portrayed. Don't watch anything below a 7 as these tend to be a waste of time which are filled with anime cliches, already been done stories, and poor animations and/or audio. Just a note, www.anidb.net does have a large archive of older animes if you want to do research on a series before downloading it. Also, the entires typically have information on what groups are fansubbing it and the status of the series' translation. 2) I often use torrents sites such as www.baka-updates.com/releases.php to get my anime. Now if you sign up for a free account you can log in and see how many people are trying to download a series. I often use this count to find popular series and the most popular fansub group for that series. So what methods do you guys use?

I just found out about one that sounds interesting. The character design looks quite similar to Eureka 7. The guy with the red hair resembles Renten from Eureka 7. It is called Kiss Dum: Engage PlanetKiss Dum: Engage Planet

@kaneda: LOLZ @ SYSTEM.
Ahem. I usually poke around here or I talk to people who watch a lot of anime. If the suggest it, I watch. I give it 4 episodes before I pass judgment and quit.

You can never go wrong with anime mags!! I personally read and recommend Anime Insider and Newtype USA. You can find them in Bookstores, or go online and subscribe to them.

I'm extreeeemely picky about anime. Most of it now is so run-of-the-mill and unoriginal. So I don't even look in magazines or books because they only promote the anime/manga titles that sponsor them the best. I ask other people who I know have the same nitpicky tastes as me.
Basically, people who know me personally know what I like and are the best sources for any anime/manga I might be interested in.

DHers tricked me into thinking Bleach might be deep! It is because you are way too picky Kaneda. You watch a few episodes of an anime and then say it sucks Equus asinus. You are not going to like too many animes if you give up on them so fast. I know you say they have not plot or not deep but that is just your opinion. And your opinion is only 1 opinion. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

Well the friends I have now, don't watch anime. In fact they hate it, and if I didn't like them so much I wouldn't be friends with them. So I have to rely on my instincts and two trusted websites. But anime is on a downhill right now, the industry isn't doing good, and there really is nothing I'm interested in seeing. And my tastes are changing I'm more in comdey and much more light hearted anime. All that bad***** stuff with the PVC leather and strapped guns on the side is starting to get real repetitive and annoying.

Kaneda, you seem too opinionated for anything. Are you a picky eater, too? XD

To you, everything sucks. Some things might start out bad, but a lot of the time, it gets better as it goes on. You just don't give anything much of a chance.

To you, everything sucks. Bleach, Eragon, Naruto, and Inuyasha arent everything. Some things might start out bad, but a lot of the time, it gets better as it goes on. If they did, i'd watch it. But the shows i dont like are the ones that dont change and stick to the same old formula. In fact, i can recognise the formula now and stop watching the anime sooner.
