The only shojo-ai I totally and completely adore beyond all reason is Saya/Kaori from the anime Blood+, which is pretty sad because it's not even the canon pairing of the show. But I love it to bits and seriously wish it had been canon.
Other than that, I'm also a fan of Azuki on Avatar.

Reviving this thread ftw. If anyone is looking for a good yuri series, you should check out Erica Friedman's blog for reviews on yuri manga and anime. My favorite yuri mangaka is definitely Yamaji Ebine. Love My Life and Free Soul were terrific. Although I've heard the live action movie adaptation of Love My Life wasn't terribly great. Right now my favorite shoujo-ai/yuri series are Maria-sama ga Miteru and Strawberry Shake Sweet. I can't wait for the release of the first season of MariMite this July! I only wish that it was being dubbed, but I'll settle for subs. As for Strawberry Shake Sweet, I've read the spoilers for the new chapter; can't wait 'til Lililicious posts it on their site. I'm just sad it's ending in two chapters.

I like Kasimashi. Funny story about the title. Apparently, the author called the city it takes place in Kashima City, which, in the original Japanese version, is Kashima Shi. Get it? Okay, now that you know about that, let's take it a step further and make it known that 'kashimashi' apparently is part of a proverb that goes something like 'when middle-aged women gather, it gets kashimashii (noisy).' Humor.
Anyway, another shoujo-ai manga I like, though the pairing isn't obvious right away, it's implied by the thoughts of a character close to the main character as the first volume goes on, is Venus Versus Virus, I call it V3 for short, but the author abbreviates it V.V.V.
Let me tell you what the back of the book says:
"Welcome to Venus Vangard... We've been expecting you.
Sumire Takahana was a seemingly normal school girl cursed with the ability to see malevolent ghosts known as "Viruses." But her life comes to a dramatic crossroads after a run-in with a Gothic Lolita-clad monster killer named Lucia Nahashia. Not content to stay on the side-lines while these Viruses prey on the weak, Sumire decides to join forces with the mysterious eyepatch-wearing Lucia to hunt down the Viruses before they can hurt anyone else."
Doesn't sound like a shoujo-ai title, but as the story continues, a friend of Sumire's, Nene Mikumo, begins to that Sumire and Lucia have a relationship. Despite the seriousness and demi-horror (It's not really scary at all. Not to me, anyway) Nene's reaction to her own suspicions of Sumire and Lucia are quite humorous. It takes a while for the 'shoujo-ai-ness', as I call it, to become canon, but the story is riveting, with or without it. Character driven stories, which V3 is, are some of the best, IMO.

I'm not sure why people automatically assume guys have to fanboy over yuri the way the girls tend to fangirl over yaoi.
That said, a well-written yaoi relationship is fine with me. It's just that the majority of them aren't >.>
