My very first anime was a series called "Unico". It was about a unicorn who could grant wishes to those that became his friend. It was cute.. a bit fruity, but I loved it. I was about 4 or 5 when I first saw it. Then when I was around 7 ( so figure the year to be about 1981) my older sister got a job working for a video store, where she was aloud to take home whatever movies she wanted over night. She brought home a movie called "The Fantastic Adventures of Unico" for me to watch. It floppe at the video store.. and so her boss allowed me to keep the copy he had along with another Unico movie called "Unico in The Island of Magic".
dang I'm old!

My Neighbor Totoro was my first. I didn't know it was an anime at the time since I was so little but I loved it. We had the chinese version so I don't know how it sounds with English VAs. My first series Anime was Gundam Wing and then DBZ and Rurouni Kenshin.

My first anime was Pokemon, and later I watched Hamtaro, but I didn't really get into anime until FMA. Avatar also helped to get me into anime a bit. My first manga is FMA, which I started not too long ago.

Heh.
"Battle of the Planets" It was a pretty faithful adaptation of "Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman"
I know purists would say it's not "anime", but I think it's pretty neat anyways, because it was one of the first animated series in the US to draw attention to the whole Japanese anime market.
