I realy don't know. I can remember that i watched the first OVA of kenshin on canal plus and some other anime movies. But i think that DBZ realy got me into anime togheter with Akira and Ghost in the Shell. The first manga i read was rurouni Kenshin. I thought i downloaded the anime but ended up with 9000 jpegs . The first manga i bought was "Apple Seed". After completing that series i moved to "Those who hunt elves" and bought all 7 english translated volumes (in japanese they got 23). I'm currently working on Bleach

Hmm first anime was a blurr, I think it might have been Robotech (remash of Macross) but i remember watching Ronin Warriors (Samurai Troopers in japan) and Technoman (Tekkaman Blade dub) around the same time too. First manga was Tenjo Tenge -> it's still on going but is confusing as all get out, but has very purddy art/fan service. I watched Magic Knight Rayearth in anime club on Friday!! It was kinda stupid. I expected more from CLAMP. Watch Code Geass, it's also by CLAMP but is amazing good! If you watch the 1st 5 eps and are not completely hook i'll be surprised as all get out.

I was really young, single digits young, when I started watching DBZ. My dad loved it so he kinda introduced me to it. As I got older I branched off on my own and got into Sailormoon in like, the 3rd grade(?) *scratches head*

The first Anime that I ever watch was Dragonball Z. That might explain why do I love fighting anime not the cute animes that much.

My first anime was Pokemon. Then I watched small excerpts of DBZ and watched Sailor Moon regularly until it stopped airing. Followed by that was me watching YuGiOh...but I definitely disliked it. XD It was more of a "just trying to watch it and irritate my brother." I was like...6 or something. XD
And I was one of the evil children who dragged her parents to Pokemon 2000. *headwall*

Waterfire, I'm right there with ya. Having 2 older brothers that always watched Dragonball Z, me and my sister both love it. After that, any anime I'd watch I instantly loved. Its funny too, b/c at first I would think it was stupid, but then it would grow on me, until I loved it. But I always preferred the fighting animes and stuff more than the "Magical Girl" genre. I liked Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew is ok, but it got really boring alot of the times b/c it was the same thing over and over.
Avatarspirit & Paraiba Ocean, I like Yu-Gi-Oh! It was pretty good to me. But Yugioh G/X was definetly a turn off. It was really annoying.

To resurrect a dead thread, my first anime was definitely Robotech! This series is surprisingly still just as good as it was then if not better. If you have not seen this anime classic, you are really doing your anime collection a disservice.
Speed Racer, Voltron, and Battle of the Planets also were some of the first I recall seeing before realizing they were even considered anime.
