I have definitely fallen behind. I just kind of stopped reading some point a little after Envy was (temporarily?) defeated.
I guess I'll try and catch up again. Has the quality gone up recently? I thought it was getting pretty dull later in the northern chapters.

August's chapter was really awesome. Pride is one nasty and powerful homunculus. =X What's interesting is the series now has sort of an allegorical tourettes syndrom since just about every chapter is spitting out these really awkward and random plot/subplot moments that leads you to wonder how Arakawa's crew will ever follow up on everything.

Gaaaah. I still have not seen 17. Im having withdraws! Good news is I actually looked through 16 again and actually realized the homunculus tunneling under the snow-tower-place is sloth ^,^; I was slow when I read it the 1st time, I guess.

For those of you who have fallen behind, it's worth catching up now. Chapter 88 = win. There is a pretty epic battle and Hoenheim actually shows off some of his skills against ........ pride .......

This month's installment (#91) was epic except for one predictable moment. Envy is back! Big surprise! *rolls eyes* They also don't seem to be doing justice for Mustang's story line, ATM. Or maybe it's fine but I just want it covered more? =/

How many volumes of FMA have been released, in both the US and Japan? I'm trying to order the rest of the anime but now with news of an anime adaptation of the manga plotline, I'm really getting intrigued by the manga story now....

I don't know. The scanlations I've read are mostly from Shounen Jump, so I think Ch. 91 has yet to be released. I think there's 17 volumes so far? I've recently become obsessed with this manga. the anime has NOTHING on it, and it's good.

The anime is much better paced than the manga, and doesn't stoop to nearly the same level of shounen tropery and Lost style never-endingness.
The manga's definitely had some highpoints (Gluttony's stomach arc remains a favorite of mine) but lately it's been feeling very drawn out and without nearly the same level of emotion as the anime. The Lost formula of drawitoutdrawitoutCLIMAXdrawitoutdrawitoutCLIMAXdrawitoutdrawitoutCLIMAX... gets to be repetitive and unfulfilling.

Yeah, but what I fail to understand it the path the anime took in some cases - like the Homonculi. I was like "waiiit....." and now I'm fairly sure it's coming to a close. Maybe it doesn't feel drawn out to me because I read all of it in three days. Maybe it doesn't because I watched InuYasha. (Which could very well be the case. Now THAT is drawn out.)

Yeah, but what I fail to understand it the path the anime took in some cases - like the Homonculi. No, that was an awesome path. There were plenty of questionable choices though, mainly the parallel worlds and like, 90% of Conqueror of Shamballa. The homunculi both made sense and worked as a good tweest, more so than Philosopher's Stone = Soylent Green. The manga has some awesome characters, but it doesn't share the time amongst the characters as well as the anime did.

That's true. I agree with you on that. I love the Homonculi in both the anime and the manga, but I still don't get why they changed Pride and Sloth and Wrath. Cuz let's face it, Pride in the manga is awesome. XD

Oooooh... life in this thread! :3
While you have some very agreeable and strong points Kaneda, there are some story arcs in the manga that trump the value of the anime. I agree that the anime had some better perspectives so far (like the origin of the homunculi), but the manga is not over.

I envy you guys so much. I feel so left out. Y__Y I am going to B&N this Friday. I don't like reading manga online. =P I did that with MARS and my eyes hurt for a while.
