WEll, Near calling L a loser is not cool, but he's kinda correct. L lost to kira. So technically he is a loser. Near and Mello look up to L, so don't think that Near is being disrespectful to him. But Light kind of cheated since he had Rem kill L for him instead of taking care of L by himself.

Light won fairly. L should never have let Light near the Death Note after catching Higuchi anyway.

Light won fairly. L should never have let Light near the Death Note after catching Higuchi anyway. But L never would expect Rem to kill him for Light because she cared about Misa. Besides, he didn't know there would end up being 3 death notes that Light had control of including Rem's. Basically, he could have never known that Light would cause Rem to kill herself. Since he used something that L could not have possibly known about, I consider it cheating.

He suspected Light may have given up the power to kill willingly. It was a major mistake to give the killing device back to him.

My point is that L could not have known about the deals that Light was making with Rem and how he would use her to kill him. Also, Light never used the death note to kill L so Light having it back wouldn't mean anything because Rem was going to end up killing him anyways. Besides, Light already had the piece of paper from the death note in his wrist-watch and had contorl over the other death note that Misa possessed.

But if Light had never got the Death Note back after Higuchi, he would never have regained his memories, so I don't know if the plan to get Rem to kill L would work the same way...? OFC, then he'd be the only one in the investigation team that hadn't touched it.

Okay, okay, FINE! I still hate Death Note, and it's still way boring, but, this weekend's episode was very interesting. And even I have to admit it's starting to get interesting after L died... I like Near. He's so much like L is almost scary... Good thing Sayu didn't have to die. But I hate Light, I really do. Treating poor Misa like that, that jerk...

Misa is one of the worst characters in the show.
Death Note isn't particularly boring, it just doesn't stoop low for quick and easy entertainment. It's actually quite fast paced and interesting compared to other shows/movies/etc on the upper end of the intelligence spectrum.

Please. Killing people with a BOOK?! Give me a break. At least the Western Grim Reaper harvests people's souls with a huge scythe. At least it's believable that he's killing them when he strikes them with said scythe, even if few people draw pictures of him actually cutting people up. But writing names in a book? You've got to be kidding. Where's the believability in that?
And I never said Misa added anything to the show. She's just pretty.

Well, how else would they have done this? The entire show is based around this secret method of killing and the shinigamis, so... the point isn't to have a lot of cutting people up action and believeability. If they wanted it to be realistic, they could've gave Light a gun and made him just go out and shoot all the criminals, call it Death Pistol or something. But where's the story in that?

Obviously, you can't see the genius of using a book instead of all those other cliched methods. Using a book with special rules, the guy was able to keep himself under raps and actually use strategy. If he had a scythe or a gun, it'd be boring and there'd be evidence left behind!!! It's not any fun reading a series where the guy gets thrown in jail so soon.

You should rarely criticize something's concept. The execution is what matters.

OFC, then he'd be the only one in the investigation team that hadn't touched it. Light would have touched the death note no matter what after Higuchi was caught. After his dad saw Rem, L demanded the death note and Light would inevitably get his hands on it. His plan was designed nearly perfectly at least to have L killed. @kaneda I agree completely with you. Misa is a horrible character. She is basically a useless tool that Light takes advantage of. She never thinks for herself either. All she does is what Light tells her to. How could Rem possibly like her? I just don't understand. @dr. Eggman Anime/entertainment is now really about making things believable. It is about creating something interesting and unique that appeals to the audience. Besides, guns, knifes, etc. get old after a while. The Death Note mixed things up.

The note isn't to be unique, the show revolves around there being a completely untraceable way of killing almost anyone.
