as a dedicated Saitou fan boy, I have to say Shishio ain't no thang. The only reason that SS didn't get spear in the head by the gotetsu freight train is because he was plot shield and the show is called Rurouni Kenshin It's been a long time so i wouldn't hold your breath for any more animated Kenshin.

Keep in mind that Saito did get both of his legs stabbed before the battle, hence his gatosu strength was decreased dramatically.

The dude busted through a freaking wall! I'd say his legs were fine . Since what kinda hippy wears a metal band to protect his head. You'd think Ss would be smarter and wear i dunno a whole suit of armor .

I know! Saito would just happen to aim at his head, and sishio would just happen to have a metal plate there! Somebody came prepared. (Not prepared enough obviously )

I'm glad this was bumped. I'm a big fan of the manga. I've only seen the Samurai X movie (with the Tomoe story) and I was slightly unimpressed. It left me not wanting to bother with the rest of the series. But I LOVE the manga. I bought all of them and it was absurd. I went to two different bookstores in one day because one didn't have the volume I was ready to read. I couldn't possibly buy all 28 at once, but my best day was when I bought six. Aaaaah. Satisfaction. The last volume came wrapped with a poster inside. I felt like a preteen again.
My favorite characters are Seta (I'd like to see more of him. He was very Kenshinish), Aoshi (sometimes a little too broody, but mostly cool/hot), and most of all Kenshin. I liked Kaoru when she stopped hitting Kenshin in the head. That got annoying after a while.
I loved how Megumi got her to stop abusing Kenshin too. That was very funny.
I did like Enishi as a villain. He was seriously messed up and I loved how his flaw arose. The very thing that made him stronger and faster made him vulnerable to loud noises and vibrations. Smart.
Whew. This was really my first manga and I haven't seen another one I like nearly enough to buy. Any suggestions?

@mahatista: Aww but Kaoru's "abuse" toward Kenshin was one of the lovable highlights of their relationship! Well, there is still Samurai X: Seshousen to watch. And.... Well.... I guess you could watch Samurai Champloo. It's a good series, and it take place during the Edo Period, a little earlier before the events of Rurouni Kenshin (which started in the late Edo Period).

^^ I didn't love the anime version of Rurouni Kenshin, just the manga. But if Samurai Champloo has a similar feel, I'll see about a manga for it. Thanks for the tip!
As for Kaoru's abusiveness, I'd have to say the one that was the most annoying was when she'd given him her ribbon when he went to fight and he got stabbed so it had blood on it when he gave it back to her. They'd just had this romantic eye-to-eye thing and she went nuts on him for ruining her favorite ribbon. It was very false and annoying.
I have a problem with abusiveness as a tool for humor though, so it's really just my taste. I don't go for things like the 3 Stooges, which is still a popular touchstone for physical comedy. Again, it's just my taste. A lot of people like that and I'm not ragging on it.
Besides, he did always make that cute face after she hit him in the head. With the twirly eyes. XD

^Lol. That's true about taste. I personally wished that they had more romantic scenes, but then, Kenshin WAS suppose to be targeting a male audience... Plus he always said his signature line: "Oro!" Yeah. I liked the anime through the Tokyo Arc to the Kyoto Arc. Then all of the fillers... Ugh. -_- I'm just made that the Jinchuu Arc didn't get animated. It would have if the fans kept watching the show through all of those dumb filler arcs. But then AGAIN, the fans probably would have been watching if the fillers were more tasteful. When I really think about this whole "filler episodes being crappy" deal with anime, I see that Bryan+Mike are doing us a favor by spacing out the release of each episode: They make more time for them to make more episode that are key to the plot line by waiting a few weeks (or months) for premieres so then they won't have to make filler eppies. Plus no episodes to watch means the fans will get more restless, instead of them getting mad and stop watching the show after going through countless filler eppies.

@soulknight: I recommend Kenshin it's a really good manga/anime series. Before Naruto and Bleach came along (no offense to all of the hardcore fans on here), Rurouni Kenshin was one of the most popular Shonen Jump mangas. It's still pretty popular around the world even today. But there aren't many fans on DH...

Forget the magna for me because I don't read magna. For some reason. I can't stand black and white pictures.

^^ I tried to watch a youtube epi but the subs were too fast. I am not a poor reader, but they flashed by in one second and I found it impossible to follow. The movie (Tomoe story) I watched was dubbed, but horribly. Kenshin and Tomoe sounded okay, but Enishi especially was just awful! And others too.
I wasn't sure I would like the manga, but I really did and I've found I like manga better than anime. Not sure why, just me.
