Like the poll question says, which character (out of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph) do you think is the most underdeveloped?
My answer would have to be Sokka. I mean, Zuko got more background info in two episodes than Sokka did in two seasons. I'm not saying that Sokka doesn't have his moments, but he's mostly there just for comic relief.

Aang is the Avatar, so it is practically impossible for him to be underdeveloped. Katara is the female lead, so again she has been greatly developed. Toph has been developed well in her relatively little time with with Gaang. But Sokka...every time when it appears that he is getting developed so he has a niche apart from the rest of the gaang...lo and behold! it seems Katara can do it too. I do not think that writers have adequately developed Sokka as a character who can hold his own in a world of benders. He is just "that guy" used for both comic relief and serious moments that involve sticking to the plan.

Well Sokka is the only one other than Aang who has had flashbacks (Bato of the water tribe), and he has had a few deep romances. He has matured a lot.
Aang has been developed too much to describe here.
Katara has developed a lot; she has become a skilled bender and has become more confident. And, she's been falling in love with Aang.
Toph would probably be the most undeveloped; she's only been here one season and has always been the same tough girl. Not much has changed about her.

Call me crazy, but I think it's Zuko still.
We've seen a whole lot of stuff from his past that make it clear as to what he's doing right now, but that's the whole point-- we've seen and we've only heard from other people like Iroh and Azula. We've heard very little from him about himself and his motives.
Zuko is still the mystery and is still very underdeveloped-- too many shadows the boy has.

I think it has to be Toph, like previously stated she's only been there for one season and theres still so much we don't know about her yet.

I'd say Toph. We know very little about her other than she's rich, blind, and had overprotective parents.
I would love to see more backstory on Katara and Sokka though. And more about Iroh and Lu Ten. And yes there is still so much to be learned about Zuko, but I fear there is not enough time to touch on all of them.

I say either Sokka or Katara. I voted Sokka though.
Katara, she is cool and all, but we haven't really learned much about her except that she lost her mother.
Sokka, eh, he is still the goof off.

Aang. Just to spite all the Aang fans out there. No other reason. I'm in a mean mood tonight.

Aang. Just to spite all the Aang fans out there. No other reason. I'm in a mean mood tonight. I figured someone would pick on the poor little guy at some point. Hmm...yeah, I'd say Lady Bei Fong is in dire need of some more development. Sokka is NOT just comedy relief, and it's definately showed this season. He's brought direction to the group when they were lost (of course, not in the Desert seeing as he was...a little out-of-mind due to the effects of cactus juice). He definately had some great moments in Book 2.

I think tohp is underdevelpoed. I don't think they go to flashblacks on her past, at least I don't remember Also can someone tell me what is comic relief? So many people have been saying it and it annoys me....

A comic relief is a character who appears in serious setting to relieve tension and make it humorous

You know what? Character development is not necessarily directly proportional to the number of character flashbacks. And while I do think that Toph is not as developed as the other three characters, I do think that her character has grown more in one season than Sokka did in his first season.

Aang. Just to spite all the Aang fans out there. No other reason. I'm in a mean mood tonight. This comment is unnecessary. I don't care what your feelings are to a particular character, but in no way, shape, or form is such behavior appropriate. If you are annoyed or in a bad mood, there is no need to take it out on the board.
