I just watched this movie last night, and I really don't see what all the complaints are about. The climax was a bit of a let-down, but, overall, it was a good movie. Given the subject matter in all the other movies, "inter-dimensional beings" fit it just fine for me. I certainly wouldn't mind a fifth film if they get started on it quickly.
Anyway, my favorite bit of the movie had to be the car chase in the jungle. From the chase to the ants to the waterfalls, it was just a great, huge, action sequence.

o8jedi: Good point about the whole B-Movie thing, but you might be over thinking it a little. Not at all. It's set in the 50s, hence communist villains. What else was big in the 50s? Aliens and sci-fi (like in "The Iron Giant"). It's very clearly intentional. And as I said before, anything that can happen in Tintin can happen in Indiana Jones.

Yes but are aliens really the vibe that has already been set by Indiana Jones movies? I understand it was set in the 50's and they are due to have communist villains, but I cannot seem to agree with ACTUAL live aliens in the end, and I think it's very overreaching, even for a movie set in the 50's. I think that it would have gone from a good movie to a great movie if they had kept to the mayan legends a bit more. Other than the real aliens in the end, I think it was a decent movie.

I loved this show and the closure it simbolised. Some idiot professor of archeology tred to shoot down the show after watching the trailer but not the movie saying that Indy was stealing the cristal skull from the decendants of the peple who crafted it. In this show, Indy returns an artifact instead of taking it away and he marries Marion so alls well that ends well. Its pretty touching for me because Raiders of the Lost Ark was one of the first movies I watched in the cinema as a kid and part of that kid still wants to see some sort happily ever after.
