When I first saw this topic, I was like "Height discrimination? That's just silly." But now that I think about it, a lot of people discriminate against others for their height. I agree that people view smaller/shorter as weaker; but some of the shortest kids I know are also the toughest. Looks can deceive, eh? Height discrimination, IMO, isn't seen as such a huge deal because people view it as natural selection or something. An example of height discrimination: I've played volleyball for a few years now; and positions are almost always determined by height, not physical abilities. If you're the tallest on the team, you're a middle hitter. Shortest people are liberos and setters, and people in the middle are outside hitters. It has been this way on every team I've been on. Occasionally we'll see a team that has a tall setter; or a tall outside hitter, but the majority are chosen by height. I think it's the same way in basketball; with taller people playing post or center, but I haven't played in awhile, so I'm not too sure. Are other sports the same way? I think height discrimination is here, but it seems like people aren't aware that it is a bad thing. Kids at my school tease each other all the time about their height, or talk about how weird it is that a short guy is dating a taller girl... There's a lot of height discrimination going on.

LOL, people, discrimination is when you don't get to do stuff because of it, not being teased. Being considered for a certain position in a team does not quiet figure in...
Hight discrimination: you have to be x amount tall or you are not in the running for a job. Army used to be that way, and airline pilots.
Picking the shorter bouncer is a matter of experience, usually picking the players as well.
Cutting bad jokes.... rofl....can get old. But there is one thing that can get not only on your nerves, but hit you in the pocket book: Supermarkets and how they stock the shelves: brand names and large packages at the average eye level, other stuff way high or low - with the exception of colorful candy, that's kiddy hight...
Applied psychology is not really discrimination, is it?

I'm 5'7, and yes I do find height to be quite intimidating in some points, and just plain uncomfortable at times. And also, in our marching band, I'm the section leader, and it does feel a bit wierd giving intructions to a couple people a few inches taller than me.
But overall, this entire society is different. Back then, to the ancient times, size and strength mattered, and powerful war generals which lead many conquests were at the top of the ladder. However now, its not just physical size, but intelligence that really cuts it

well... i'm a VERY short person......and when i mean short!! i mean it! i'm 5'3"....and ppl call me shorty.. i don't really care though, cuz they're my friends and i know they're just jokin' around. but if someone is bullying someone else just b/c of their height....well then, that "bully" must be feeling pretty darn short (bad) about themselves to discriminate against other people's "heights"...
