The English that we speak is different from the English that people in England speak, so to differentiate, I call it American. It's still called English. Mexicans don't call their Spanish, "Mexican".

No, they don't, but they do differentiate a lot of things with different names. And my personal preference shouldn't be up for debate on here.

This thread should be reworded. I thought, at first, it meant that there was someone who was actually an illegal alien whom we can vote for. XD
("Should Illegal Aliens Vote?" is a much better option.)
Though I believe in the American Dream and all that jazz about opportunity, illegal aliens should be citizens if they want to vote for someone.

Your preference doesn't change the fact that it's called English. WyrmKing drop it and get on topic. What? I can't correct her? She wants the immigrants to learn English, she might as well start learning the name correctly.

Enough both of you get on topic or else. I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself.

NO. They are illegal for a reason. They aren't suppose to vote, they aren't suppose to be getting a driver's license, and they ain't even suppose to be here. I'm sorry if that sounded harsh. I just have a thing against people who come here illegally, can't speak a lick of English, and then take my summer job away. You know, it's people like you who make the world such a frakked up place. Those people have to run from their country. They can't live there anymore. And just because they don't speak English all of a sudden, you don't want them in your country. You say that they are illegal for a reason - if you would just think a SECOND of your life about what reason that would be, you might be able to understand the state these people are in. Ya know what? THEY GREW UP WITH IT! You're right about one thing: there shouldn't be illegal people. But you have to say it like this: people shouldn't be illegal. In a unified world, there wouldn't be such a thing. As it stands now... I think people who moved to another country should get the right to vote after a couple of years. Just to make sure they understand what the parties stand for. Say, 2-3 years. Off course, in modern politics, almost everyone is just the same - a guy who likes to earn money.

That's the humanitarian view of it. And that is a open minded view most anyone could side with. However, most of the illegal immigrants (from Mexico) have zero intention of actually coming here to establish a permanent life. The value of the peso compared to the dollar is crap and so they come here, find work illegally and then send money out of the US economy and back to Mexico. Not only does this overstate our GDP but it steals jobs from many Americans, increasing recorded American poverty. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm sure life in Mexico is very hard for its citizens. But the country as a whole needs to get it together instead of relying on such a massive amount of illegal immigrant workers for an economic boost. Voting rights should only be allowed to those who are generally serious about living here permanantly.

I know you and I agree on some things (Namely thinking D&D is cool) but the fact that immigrants from other countries want to come here without propely applying to become legal U.S. citizens marks them as being illegal aliens. Is it so wrong to state an opinion about as much? The fact that they don't speak English isn't their fault, in and of itself, but the fact that they ask for a handout and have us learn their language so they can communicate here is just not right. If they want to live here, they should apply for citizenship and learn English while they wait to fit in better. It may be overly harsh of me to say this, but if they're denied citizenship, then too bad. They can go to another country that will accept them. And as long as they live, they can keep trying til they do get citizenship or die of disease, old age, pursuers from their home country, whatever. I have no problem with people coming here from other nations as refugees and those wanting to legally become U.S. citizens, but those who think they don't have to follow our laws to get here just don't deserve to live here, no matter how bad their situation in their home country. I'm sorry, but it's just not right for illegal aliens to gain driver's licences or the right to vote in this nation.

People always have that wrong vision on immigrants. Okay, there are people who don't want to integrate, but they are rare. Most people just don't get the chance, they don't have enough money. The fault of capitalism, as it's one of the basic principles of this form of economy that the poor should be poor.

On the contrary meinen Fruend. I do think about how their lives. I'd rant about this here, but I think I gave a good enough rant about ths in the Rant/Pet Peeve Thread over in the General board. Give it a look, and comment if you want to. All I'm saying, that they're taking the easy way out of their troubles in a way. coming to America illegal, unprepared much of the time. There were many countries that were once in the state that Mexico is in. Mexico is not going to improve if te citizens keep escaping from their problems. You can't make changes for the people if you do not stick around and at least attempt to make a stand and try to make your life - as well as the entire nation - better. Immigrants from impoverished nations should take America's past into consideration: we weren't always like this. We had to struggle in order to become what we are today. And most of us show our appreciation for the people who most often gave up everything in order to ensure a better future the country and its people by followin the rules. And one of those rules just happens to be that we must be citizens and abide to the law in order to get a true taste of freedom.

they're illegal because A: They can't speak english(doesn't apply to all illegal immigrants, I'm pretty sure some countries other than America speak English) B: They take jobs away from legal Americans C: They might be terrorists.
They can't vote beause A: They might of came to spread the crazy morals of their countries and that's more then enough for me.
I guess I have no problem with them coming over here illegally if there is a genocide or, they're getting the DP in their country because of something insane, something crazy like that.

The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" Emma Lazarus, 1883
I'm not saying that illegal immigrants should be allowed to vote. However, it's not by any random circumstance that they're showing up on our doorstep.
